To summarize, rather than a proper review of Rise, this is moreso another "World vs Rise" from someone that clearly doesn't understand the nature of Monster Hunter games and likes World cuz it has fancy graphics. The usual copypaste "review" nowadays.

    • @CrimsonKaiserx8
      @CrimsonKaiserx8 Рік тому +4

Or maybe it’s the knee jerk reaction of someone who wants to be a rise apologist. Cause maybe what was said in said copy paste review struck a nerve or some fact that one can’t take criticism from someone who disagrees with things about what rise did compared to world.
It’s not just a simple as you lay it out to be. Not everyone is going to make excuses for rises lack of shortcomings and flaws. World was the game that layed the ground work for rise and even then rise was rebuilt with world mechanics put into it through development and its in record.
So maybe just maybe it’s not as black and white as you make it out to be. There is depth and nuance to this. A little more concerted effort to realize that might do you some good mate.

I understand that you may PREFER the graphical style of World but it seems that your judging a game based on its "tutorial". A lot of this is just flat out wrong bro, and it's such a massive self report that I never see you actually get past green sharpness. Did you just finish the village campaign? The tutorial and decided to start hating?
    >No substancial difficulty: alright, tell that to the apexes and scorned magna and the anomalies and the risen elders and primordial and the hazard fight.
    >It looks worse than world: it's a switch game and it's art direction hard carries it, kamura village is objectively beautiful to look at, the citadel is beautiful, the shrine ruins have a beautiful giant waterfall... Saying it has no scenery is stupid.
    >No improvement over world: it's not a world sequel, the faster pace is the point, giving a different experience than world is the point.
The switch skills are an improvement, the deco crafting system is an improvement, NPC followers, original weapon designs, not overly bloated look to male armor... This is just biased man.

Tell us World was your first (and only) MonHun game without actually telling us😒 This is the most redundant and exhausting video on Rise that exists. If you knew anything about this series you would understand that Rise is fundamentally more “Monster Hunter” than World in every way. You may have liked the features that were added in World, but it’s pretty bold to say that Rise is less Monster Hunter because it walked back features that were ONLY in the title you played and liked. It’s like saying “MH6 sucks because it doesn’t have Wirebugs”.
First of all: you go on and on about the immersion and the tracking, but the fact is, this series has ALWAYS been about killing monsters. I swear I’ve heard the “it’s called Monster Hunter, not Monster Killer…” a thousand times and it is such a tired argument. In World, do YOU actually track the monster? Or do you run around until you find the tracks, then let the Scoutflies lead you right to it? I’m not defending the monster just appearing on the map by default in Rise, but the novelty of tracking a monster really wears off after the first time you hunt it.
Second: “the game is so easy that I could hunt every monster with starting gear.” Hooo boy. I like difficult games, but the fact is, Monster Hunter is only historically difficult because of hitbox jank and clunkiness. Overcoming that does provide a certain catharsis, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that all weapons in MH care equally about positioning and strategic timing. Dual Blades, the Bowguns, Gunlance… in World, these weapons are just as easy to use as anything in Rise. Monster Hunter’s identity is not tied to its difficulty in the way Dark Souls or SMT are. People in this community (mostly the western, post-World audience) seem to think difficulty is like a badge of honor. My first Barioth hunt in IB took 45 minutes, and I gotta be honest, it wasn’t fun or satisfying at all. If you still feel this way after finishing Sunbreak then maybe you don’t like Monster Hunter, you just like Monster Hunter World😐
Finally, the graphics: people really need to stop with this point. It makes it impossible to take your review seriously. Hardware limitations aside, if you’re only here for shiny Graphics then you are, once again, in the wrong series. These games have thrived for 10+ years on exclusively 240p handheld screens. No die hard fan of these games would ever say that Rise is the massive step down in quality that you’re claiming just on graphics alone.
All in all, you probably ought to do your research before jumping on the Rise-hate bandwagon, because you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.

World was good precisely because it was different than other MH games. In no way did he say that Rise was less "MH" than World, just that it's a worse game, no one cares about the game being closer to the series except nostalgic fans. Rise is just a regression to a GU style of game, which is just sad compared to the masterpiece that was world.

    • @CrimsonKaiserx8
      @CrimsonKaiserx8 Рік тому +2

Honestly it feels like you kinda missed the whole point of what he was trying to make all the way through the video. It’s not about rise hate bandwagoning looking at it through a certian perspective.
Saying it’s hate bandwagoning kinda handwaves aside criticism all together. World has its flaws and shortcoming but rise was never going to be world. It’s so much more than thst to simplify it to hate without looking at all the angles.
It’s not just about doing research but actually playing both games for extended periods of time to see the depth and inner workings of both u come to see what separates them but also that rise took a lot of what world was but could never be it. A lot of things are subjective but factually rise was supposed to be an old school mh game but tried to implement world mechanics but lacks the soul of sorts that world had minus all the other finer details.
Not disagreeing with some points made that have merit but think the point in the end was missed. Calling it blind hate only shows a little lack of foresight imo.

    • @CrimsonKaiserx8
      @CrimsonKaiserx8 Рік тому +1

Also I can tell u taking 45 minutes to kill a barioth in iceborne is rather telling. That’s not a game issue that’s a skill issue.
Played through iceborne from base world and killed it in 15 minutes with hr gear so that’s more an omission on your part. And if that’s a case a lot of what ur arguing feels like a direct response to someone’s opinion you disagree with.
Key worlds being hate and bandwagoning at the end of it. Kinda defeats the point of some of your earlier arguments if this was the end goal all along. Just sayin 🫡

From someone who has 1300 hours on each game and go back and forth between these two game recently, saying Rise has no improvement over world is totally wrong.
I agree that world has better graphic and more immersive experience. But Rise has such a huge improvement over world. I do t think sunbreak is that easier in end game. Late game Sunbreak is beating my ass just like world once did. And world late game is literally arenas fight just like rise is.
I would say they are different game with different pacing so it depends on people preference. I wouldn’t say one is worse or better than another. But saying Rise has no improvement is so wrong.
Rise UI is way better whether its menu, crafting, armor and weapon box, armor preview, sorting items and accessing to quests. Ability to explore vertically is great but maps in rise are kinda under utilized in my opinion. Regardless of Wirebug skills, base weapon’s combos are more fluid and less awkward movement. (Believe me I just went back to world) for example, gunlance in world has this stupid move that does full reload when you just want to shell a monster and you have to awkwardly work around it. Even simple weapon like sword and shield is more fluid in rise! Bow in rise with gyro control is a game changer!! Switch axe is more than just spamming ZSD now. And many more. Weapons and armors’ choices are more diverse than Fatalis. End game actually has more things to do than world apparently.
People in the village in rise actually feel more relatable than world with their stories and personalities. I honestly don’t care about anyone in world that much.
Is world a good game? Yes totally but compared to rise it feels outdated to me. It is sure more beautiful and epic. But fighting monster in world now feel lackluster to play. I wish the next game is a combination of good things from both game and cross play / cross save!!

I love how you can mount the monsters. I do struggle with the jumps but I'm getting used to it. I wish mhr had a store option on materials when your gathering like world had. This is probably the stupidest "review" I've seen of this game, and I've seen a lot of stupid reviews. It's literally just another "World vs Rise" copy-paste review. Basically all your points are that it's a "dumbed down version of World." Dude, it's not another World, it's a different game in the same franchise.
Graphics don't make a game better. Even though World has arguably the best graphics in any MH game, it's my least favorite MH game that I've played. Gameplay prevails above all, and what kept me so hooked on Rise was the gameplay. Of course Rise isn't gonna look as pretty as World, as it is a game designed for the Switch, but does it make it any worse? Absolutely not.

Main team doesn't work on the portable games, portable team doesn't work on main games and they take turns making games, it's always been a main - portable - main - portable cycle of release up until recently (mobile game coming up next...ugh). As for the reason why less people play Rise than World is the same reason why less people play ANY other MonHun game than World: World was made with western audiences in mind, it's very easy to get into with all of the hand-holding/tutorials and the graphics are pretty to look at.
Now what's annoying is people got into the franchise with World and now just demand more World-type games when the almost two decade old franchise has had a very different direction and feel up until World. Then add to that all the metaslaves and tryhards writing excel spreadsheets on optimal dps builds min-maxing the fun out of the game and the paid DLC and microtransactions that will just get more predatory as times goes on because most normies just shrug, press buy and say "it's just the way it is".
MHW killed the franchise, you'll see in a few years, when Capcom gets so comfortable with this new braindead mainstream audience they start releasing even more half-finished games with even more DLCs for content that should've been basegame in the first place (like Iceborne and Sunbreak) and P2W/QoL bullshit. First they started with the DLC and room decor, then layered armor (every piece sold separately btw), now layered weapons... say goodbye to a good franchise.

Tbh I feel like it's about preference the graphics and feeling of life is no contest, but personally I prefer the fast pace combat. Not to mention in sunbreak they expanded on the switch skill system immensely making the possibilities for combat be diverse even while comparing it to others using the same weapon. Also having added features like Qurious Crafting which allows for extreme build diversity and creativity between players. I think that we have to also keep in mind that rise like world experimented with changing the monster hunter formula adding voices for the characters, (they can be turned off if you really don't like them) and the wirebug system of movement and combat. Lastly the team was using a brand new engine, different from the one used in every game including world, and yet they were able to make a game similar enough to world with no loading screens between areas run smoothly on a Nintendo switch. In the end I think the Sunbreak expansion did a lot more for rise than Iceborne did for world, however I'll still give it to world as it's feeling of being a living "world" makes a huge difference. Though all of this just makes me more excited for the next game in development as it will once again most likely come out for new gen consoles and might even be better than we could ever hope for. Let's wait and see what they have in store for us.

I am going to interpret this video as “don’t get Rise unless you are playing on Switch or Steam Deck”.
Because there is validity to what you said. I have 300 hours in World and about half that in Rise. But then again all my friends jumped off Rise because they have significantly more time than I do. With the Switch having the ability to be a home console and a portable console, developers design the game around that.
Go back and play MH4U or GenU. I finished the fights much quicker than World. Why? Because they are portable games. Now, did Rise make the monster weaker? Sure. I would say yes. I didn’t faint till I got to Magnamalo and never fainted when I played in a party. Yes it was easier. Too far? Possibly. That doesn’t mean you should compare it to World. World was designed for significantly more powerful consoles.
Also, none of the previous other MonHun games had immersion like World. Thats what makes World different. Rise plays like an HD version of what MH was before.
Some people will want that and some won’t. I don’t think saying “don’t buy this” is valid though. I think just say your piece and make a recommendation is probably a more accurate response. Especially because you said the game is good. Switch owners can’t buy World. This is probably the best option for Monster Hunting. Although GenU exists…

This Rise "review" is legitimately terrible and has barely anything to do with the actual game in favor of Glazing a different MH game. This review is pointless for literally anyone who didn't already share the "world good, Rise bad" view as its nothing but yapping about Worlds graphics and immersion. This isn't a review it's a low effort comparison that doesn't even get that right.
You explain how the story is pointless and you just hunt to hunt unlike World where every hunt mattered, but thats cuz you literally failed to read the text or didn't bother. The reason you hunt outside of keeping the village safe is because you're apart of the guild, something everybody should understand at this point since outside of World every hunt is handed out from either the Village or Guild.
It's also insane how you dedicated actual time to yap about how the switch limited the game when its been said multiple times that Rise was originally planned for the 3ds and to be more in line with the older titles filled with loading screens and no semi open maps. So not only is this not a review, one of the segments is just wrong.
For anyone actually unsure if they want to buy this game I'll break it down into a review that's actually meaningful.
    Rise/SB pros
    Game respects your time
    Monster variety
    Fun movement
    Challenging endgame
    Decos are craftable
    Fun characters
    SB story is goated
    Event quests aren't time sensitive
    Switch skills/swap
    High switch player count
    Palimute/palico build customization
    armor/weapon designs not sucking
    Follower mechanics
Wyvern riding can be turned off
    Voiced hunters (specifically jp VAs)
    Cons
Switch graphics (for those that care)
Might be too fast paced for some
Early game is easy (if you care)
Endgame can be way too hard
    Not World levels of immersion
No tracking just run and hunt
    Endgame grind is insane
    Monster AI is nuts
    Less weighted combat
    Low pc player count
Pc port has its own can of worms
    Wyvern riding instead of mounting
    Spiribirds
At the end of the day Rise set out to be a fast paced oldstyle MH while proudly wearing it's inspiration from Frontier. Its not World and its not trying to be World, if you want a different approach to hunting check it out, if you just want World and don't want to experience something different it ain't for you.

Why can’t Rise be a different game then the mainline games without everyone bashing on it. You mfs need to look at this more as a spin-off

This review was awful, how can u complain about the point of hunting in rise? World told me to go slay a moving volcano to defend the village too. Dont all monster hunter games do that?? Monster hunter hunter has never been abiut the story. I think u should just stick to world cause GU and 3U didnt have much point of hunting either if we go by your perspective

I love both World and Rise. But I enjoy Rise more for one reason, It’s more fun. World is immersive and visually impressive, and that’s amusing for the first few hours. But the visual clutter is too much at times and all those immersive elements become an annoyance when I’m just trying to grind the game and have a good time. At the end of the day it’s a video game and it should be fun. I hope wilds can find that perfect middle ground of immersion and fun.

"Rise doesnt feel like a sequel" probably because Rise isnt a sequel. It isnt a part of the main MH game series, isnt the same dev team, alongside was actually in development BEFORE world.
It was originally designed for the 3DS but even going to switch, much less powerful of a platform than PC or Xbox/Ps so that limits the game heavily.
But the most important part being why it doesnt feel like they took world and made it better is because that wasnt the initial intention.
A lot of your complaints seem arbitrary as well.
I dont plan on getting rise as it mostly seems like world but worse and i dont want to waste money on that.
But your issue with wirebugs is kinda dumb.
    Its a really cool addition.
The main issue i have with it is apparently the best way to play is spamming wirebug attacks for damage which is dumb. But the added mobility is really cool

"Fear" of the monsters is a terrible reasoning, way too subjective. The last time anything in MH scared me was when Lagi showed up while i was collecting monster guts.
Plenty of people i knew watching the original World trailer would joke that the most unrealistic part of it was that we would run in fear from Anjanath rather than draw our weapon and yell "Bring it ON!"

All this video did is lower my opinion of World. Having played both I did in the end prefer World, but I didn't _hate_ Rise, in fact some things like the aesthetics and combat I preferred in Rise. However if World is gonna just make MH fans dicks for every future release it is going to make me be Devil's Advocate for Rise or future games.

Hmm, i think they just decided to take a different route with this entry. Some ppl like you and I love our old school hunts, but you have those who I am sure would have loved a more fast-paced fight with new kool things to do. Dont get it wrong I LOVE my old school Monster Hunter, but I can appreciate what Rise is trying to do, I know a few ppl who prefer how Rise is to how old-school hunter games were and that is just their personal preference which I can respect. REally nice review btw, but can hear you really wished they had the old school feel in Rise lol.

  • @genxfusion
    @genxfusion 10 місяців тому

I think it's unwise to compare these 2 games like that. Rise is NOT a step back. World was specifically developed for Westernization. That's why it's immersive. Rise is closer to what the Monster Hunter Franchise has ALWAYS been. Hunt the monster, slay the monster, get materials for better equipment and weapons and upgrades and then repeat.
Both games set out to do what they were trying to accomplish. I hope that the new Monster Hunter game will incorporate elements from World, Rise and have more content like Generations Ultimate did because Generations Ultimate out does both of them when it comes to pure content.
If people don't like Rise, that's fine. Stick to World. And vise versa. Both games are extremely popular and successful. World has sold 19 million units over multiple platforms. Rise has sold 13.6 million units and most of that has been carried by the Switch.
In my opinion it's ridiculous to even make a statement that Rise is a step back. World was a step in a different direction. It was a good step. But for it to be the "know all say all" it is not. Rise is not World and World is not Rise either. Leave them both alone so that they can stand on their own.

i’m going to be honest, the differences between world and rise can be summarized to: “world is a slower paced console game that is made to immerse you, while rise is a fast paced less serious portable game that you can always boot up and have easy fun with”, this is a perfectly reasonable point. My problem with rise is that what i just said made sense back in the psp ps2 era, when there was actually a difference between handheld and actual consoles, even on switch rise could still be a game as “grand” as world (which is a mainline game). Does that mean that capcom should disband the portable team and just focus on making only mainline games? honestly idk, but to be fair the gaming scene has to change from its old ways at some point

That's assuming your commute is long enough for a slow paced hunt and you get enough time to immerse before having to turn it off.
The point of portable games that divide their content in repeatable quests is to play on the go
