I have the book but struggle to comprehend the words whenever reading, it helps to have someone read it and it also feels like I’m watching my own personalized movie of animal farm. Thanks for the upload
This is one of my favorite audiobooks I think I've ever listened to. I decided to reread this since we read it in school earlier, andI adored this. You did this novel justice. Thank you so much for doing all this for free. Love it.
Old Major: Represents Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin, whose ideas inspired the revolution. Napoleon: Represents Joseph Stalin, a dictator who consolidates power and rules with an iron fist. Snowball: Represents Leon Trotsky, an intellectual and a rival to Stalin, who is eventually exiled. Squealer: The propaganda machine, akin to the Soviet newspaper Pravda, which manipulates information to control the populace. Boxer: A hardworking but naive cart-horse, representing the proletariat who are exploited by the ruling class. Mr. Jones: Represents the overthrown Tsar Nicholas II and the old regime. I wonder what George Orwell would have written about surveillance and privacy, disinformation and media manipulation, LGBT propaganda, climate change and societal degradation, technological control and human agency, and globalization and nationalism if he were alive today.
It's interesting though, listening to this again. I always remember snowball as being a heroic character, and napoleon the corrupted one. But listening again, the corruption starts day 1 of the revolution with the sequestering of the milk and apples. And Snowball does nothing to stop this.
In today’s Russia, “Boxers” are being sent to war to slaughter Ukrainians, while “Snowballs” are absent, as even those labeled as liberal are trapped in an imperialistic mindset.
Thanks so much for uploading Animal Farm!! It's really appreciated, especially since it's clear how much effort went into making this available. Please keep sharing classic books like this! Meanwhile, I'll enjoy the other great content on your channel
“It seemed as though the farm had grown richer without making the animals richer themselves. Except of course, for the pigs and the dogs” This is literally the US now
The standout comparison to the human race is the way the sheep incessantly blurt out their blind decree in song whenever an important point or question can be raised, in order to avoid conflict and thus keeping the tyranny going. It's exactly how the masses are!
This and brave new world n Fahrenheit 451 etc have become extremely prescient in today’s world. It feels like we’re sliding into some extremely perverted type of autocracy. (Commenting from US, sorta obviously lol)
Considering this was supposed to be a commentary on communism, the parallels with Capitalism are too stark to be ignored. So in truth this is about the abuse of power, ideology is irrelevant.
Corruption takes place in ANY system of hierarchical power that is able to escape accountability and transparency. Both Capitalistic and Totalitarian modes of government have proven to be capable of politically overreaching and developing into systems that are malignant and threatening to life itself. It is man that must learn to let go of this "need" for political or national security. A new form of self sufficiency and interdependency must learn to develop that takes into account the rights of the earth, all life forms, and of our neighbors. We've come a long way since the days of old where man was directionless and primal. We can develop in time. But it must be earned. The foreplay of societal transition, understanding and reeducating must happen first. And the idea of "political power" must be surrendered to the dusty pages of history under "failed forms of human existance." We ourselves ARE power, as John Trudell always said. And we only need the earth to exist, survive, thrive, and live. Our children will thank us for the change in our perspective.
I think what they were saying is the system of communism that was pursued at the start was abused by the pigs, and resulted in profiteering, cronyism, oppression of the working class etc, essentially creating a new capitalist system

There is no such possibility. Lord of the Flies is still under copyright protection worldwide. Without purchasing a license (and even if it were available, it probably wouldn't pay off with a UA-cam recording), this would be illegal and a straightforward way to get this channel taken down from UA-cam.
@@gatesofimagination Thank you very much for your reply. I understand the situation. Thank you very much for uploading the audio. I hope your channel will get better and better. The audio quality you made is very good.
First i listened to 1984 and now Animal Farm... ok i get it... i get it now. Took me maybe 2 months to mulch through 1984 but this one i 1 shotted in a single day. But yea, now i know why those two books are put on the marble pedestal, lets see what else you got.
Eight minutes in and the animals are complaining about the farmer, but I know the life expectancy of an animal outside of farms is greatly reduced.... The Farmer is probably saying "be grateful free loader, what you provide is barely enough to keep this land that we rent 😢. Because nobody owns anything really. It's all taxed and temporary." IDK I'm just talking smack. Ok back to the book 🎉
Sure is Cyrillic! It drives me nuts when stuff is stylized that way because it makes it really hard to read the text for me personally haha. By the way, in Russian at the very least, you're right that "я" means "I", but as in the personal pronoun (word), not the letter. The sound of the letter is more like "ya". However, I am no linguist so maybe the letter sounds different in other languages.
Wow the ending was such a downer, no wonder the two film adaptations altered the ending to inject a little more positivity. I wonder if Andy Serkis' version will have a true to book ending or will be positive like the other film adaptations.
