- Decision-making. Everyone wants to know how to make better decisions. Who do you want to be? What do you want to do? What are you going to do? It’s a lot of pressure. Ramin talks through his trials and tribulations on his path to becoming addicted to striving for success. In this talk, you’ll learn a trick to build your own path and guide your own journey through this game called life. Ramin holds an undergraduate degree in Business and Marketing, and a Master’s degree in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London. In addition to working as a Specialist at Tesla, Ramin has also developed many side-projects, which include a Hemp start-up, a socially-aware-AI company, and a lifestyle brand. Ramin is obsessed with Space and believes we can learn from Astronauts and their experiences to make better decisions in our personal lives and careers.
His talk will focus on decision making and how to make better decisions. “Who do you want to be? What do you want to do? What are you going to do? Decide now, you’re not getting any younger!” they say. It’s a lot of pressure. Ramin talks through his trials and tribulations on his path to becoming addicted to striving for success and making better decisions. Hey everyone, thank you for your comments. Public speaking and structuring points are skills I want to get good at, so I find your feedback really useful. Looking back a few years on, I agree with your points that the video title is quite misleading. It's something I came up with and thought sounded cool, but in hindsight, it takes away from the talk's point.
I wanted to share a way of clarifying an awakening that we are all going through, whilst using this as a tool we can use to make career decisions based on this new perspective. Of course, not everyone will get that big "Aha" moment on the first try, but I do believe this is a practical step in the right direction.
However, I don't agree with a few comments regarding existential crises. There is nothing wrong with going through one. They are not a bad thing; in fact, I hope that people have more of them. This is a natural phase in personal development that we all have to go through. You have to stick through it because, in the darkness, there is wisdom and the shedding of old belief systems that do not serve you anymore.
Be patient, because on the other side of your temporary recalibration is a new life, full of new meaningful experiences to be found. Living life with the knowledge of its mystery and of your own mystery gives life a new zest, a new meaning - not the other way around. This is the adventure of being alive.
If you're going through something and want to talk about anything, find me on Instagram. I'd be happy to chat with you @raminvision
9:30 "what makes you happy?" An existential crisis is where you can't think of anything that makes you happy because nothing matters; nothing makes sense, and nothing in this confusing existence can make you feel differently because it's contained in the unknown.
It might not feel like it at first, but your thoughts are valid and show that you’ve overcome a lot of life’s illusory trappings. I take it you’re quite young? Keep going in life as if you’re reading a mysterious and gripping book, you never know what’s going to be on the next page. This process of self-discovery alone is a noble-enough existence. The best part is that with this awareness you will help many along the way.
@@raminvision stop saying the "you will help others" ....it doesn't matter
Yes
If nothing truly matters to you, would you even bother to make this UA-cam comment.Clearly something has propelled you to make this decision to do something to impact the world. Regardless of how big or small the impact you might present. As long as you make a move, you have an impact. And if something has an impact, would you say it doesn't matter at all? How are you so sure that something small that happens in this present, this moment and time, does not create the butterfly effect that change the future, what authority do you have to change the past or govern the future as you imagined it would become? Every small little thing matters, every atom in this universe propels something else to go a certain direction. Therefore, you matter, in a way that your actions affects the atoms around you, the air, the furniture, the plants, the people around you. Your "little" impact creates is a chain reaction, linking every single atom on this planet earth to the entire universe. When you see everything as one, you look at your own problems, and they appear so trivial, then you start to not focus solely on your own happiness anymore. You would begin to see others, in pain and despair, you would want to help them. At least with what little impact you have on this earth, you have the ability to make others happy. And that is what I aspire to do, forget about my own menial issues whenever I can, help the world become a little better, bring peace and happiness to the world, even if it is just to a few people, it's worth more than absolutely nothing, better than staying afraid, so much so that one would freeze, fixated on ground zero, only thinking about himself.
I also suffer existential crisis and have tried to find happiness helping fellow humans and also volunteering with wildlife rehabilitation and relocation practices. Still I understand that every organism I have come into contact with will eventually die no matter what I do is the most heart-breaking thing. Especially having to euthanize animals that I wish I could have saved... Life is too short to begin with but in the big picture none of our lives are very long at all. Be it 3 years or 300 years... We will all end our existence and after some time be forgotten.
I enjoyed this talk and I understand the title, I think the guided meditation absolutely relates to it.
Here I am, in my bed, in my room, having a mini existential crisis. "What's my purpose? What's the point of anything? Does any of this matter?"
Then I zoom out into outer space. I watch my tiny self on this vast Earth, worrying so much about what my "purpose" is. It seems meaningless, to spend so much time worrying about it. I think, "does it matter what my purpose is? I know what I value. I know what I love doing. I know what I'm good at. Why is my tiny Earth self making it so complicated? I want to go back down to Earth and just do what makes me happy."
Essentially, I am existentially viewing my existential crisis.
I think everybody has considered what their purpose is at least once in their lifetime. Nobody is immune to it. But the treatment will depend on the person, and for me, the perspective shift helps dramatically.
Kind of reminds me of the Disney movie Soul. :)
The point in existence is that we are not given any meaning to live at all. We create our own path and thus, are free to do anything within our grasp. This freedom comes up with the weight of bearing with the uncountable ways we can choose from and the consequences of our own decisions, since we live in a society. We get anxious because of it. That's why ignorance is a bliss - living by a pre-existing motto, given to you by someone, without questioning is much easier than having to create your own path, follow through it and dealing with the consequences, whichever they are. Bearing the weight of someone else's decision for you is waaaaay easier than dealing with your own mistakes on the way you paved yourself. Life is indeed meaningless. You are the only one responsible for creating your meaning of life, your raison d'être, your motto, etc., and it sucks.
Good summary of it. Kierkegaard writes on similar ideas.
And others control that free will because they never had it so if we don't do what others tells us, we get screwed over. Plus the added issue of humanity monetizing everything is enough to break a person. Even love costs everything and kindness can be manipulated
The message I've got is appreciate what you have and be responsible for our actions and take care of our beautiful planet Earth
In the end of everything, I feel like ultimately we are fighting for nothing.
Right we are just part of an on going energy but WHERE did this energy come from
@@krinodagamer6313 God
@@lq6424 ok
@@krinodagamer6313 You could rabbit whole the “because” or question everything for eternity but what I have (briefly) observed is that this“because” of everything will always circle back to/be whatever YOU choose to take in at any moment. The human brain only has capacity to comprehend/get positive effects out of zooming out to an extent so why would we push that when it is WAY more fufilling to try to understand our day to days. - Might be talking to myself here byt looking at it like this isnt lame at all, who even decided that it was best to live a life that is “meaningfull” to anyone else but you?
Why do ppl hate this dude for being optimistic? These little kids, man.
The title itself just gave me an existential crisis
This indeed was a precious meditation technique. I think i even watched this in one of the Indian TV shows. After i did this meditation with this video, i just teared up, not because it wasn't good, it indeed was a very different wholesome experience but because I don't know what makes me happy. When he asked the question about what makes you happy, i felt clueless and cried. I'm at a point where I don't have a career with me and I'm clueless about what i even want to choose and go after. I've caught this existentialism since a lot of days. It just keeps coming back when I'm alone and even when I'm with people prevents me to connect. Maybe it's the ego that hurts or maybe it's the dissatisfaction, idk. But it's there, somewhere and it's uncomfortable but addictive. Phew.
I got a perspectiveless perspective after your talk sir.
Nothing matters. Be happy that you exist and you are self aware of your existence and most importantly your mortality.mody of other living beings just exist.whats more compelling is your mind can question about existence and purpose of all the objective realities thay you perceive with your subjective experiences. Most of humans are just breathing eating excreting sleeping reproducing being oblivious to cosmic perspective. In the end nothing matters. Enjoy, be happy, contemplate how rare it's to be alive in the first place. Don't harm others, don't expect from others. And if possible avoid Suicide(that's easy way out) live till nature takes you down. Try to find answers to your curiosity.ocean of knowledge is vast and can fulfill your thirst for human lifetime.peace.
He's never had an existencial crisis.
EXACTLY ! - ' only human ' ..... ;-) ;-)
clearly
This video gave me a worse existential crisis
The way I see it, an existential crisis is when you realize how insignificant you are and how meaningless it is to "exist". But what he's trying to do is giving you another perspective through the exact same thoughts. This perspective might spark a different feeling in you which would change how you feel about life having no meaning!
@@SLR_96 no, it's just really mumbo jumbo. It feels like he read on Wikipedia about existencial crises before doing the talk
I try to not think so much think so hard but I'm in the way of my own progress.
Thank for these immensely helpful resources. I'm home rehabbing my problems and youtube plays a wonderful role of healing. I'm perplexed by some issues I'm asking case mgmt for help on.
what if up there in the perspective, Nothing matters to me?
Then just try to have as much fun as possible, in every single thing you do, try to see its beauty. They don't matter anyway, so why not just have fun while dealing with them?
@@SLR_96 sounds like Camus 🙂good choice
And that is the pure definition of being selfish. You would see the world, a lot of beings in pain and suffering, does not trigger something in your heart?
I know the meaning of life
Great talk, thank you Ramin
Using this for my spoken language GCSEs
What a load of substanceless mumbo jumbo. A talk filled with platitudes and some guy who sounds like he's never experienced an existential crisis or even heard of it until last week.
^^^
I’m experiencing one right now and his advice was helpful
I wish we could all be wise instead of our naiveness that we've been stuck into for centuries, that will go on for another thousand years or more because we are stuck in what I call a circle of life we keep going around and around and can't get out and change everything. Especially the politicians stuck in a circle. You have to study the word wisdom to understand what I'm saying.
Gives more of existential crisis
Seriously, I couldn't get through the first minute. lol
This helped me a ton!!
it was a good talk n your voice us extremely calming but the video doesnt correlate wit the title, thats it, maybe it should be called how to be mindful instead? idk
send all the politicians up there. nice one bruh!
I was olny thinking of food the whole time
Hahahahah I'm crying so hard until I saw your comment. I hope you're still alive is been 9 months
@@marcoconutty7167 lol ur comment 😅😂

Too many depressed people here. Lol. What's wrong if this guy teach about optimism
lmao if you cater a video to people having an existential crisis, you better expect depressed people to be in the comments?? like depression and existentialism go hand in hand lmao... if you dont agree, you've never had one.
this guy looks like he couldnt reach for the top of his head if he tried
well he's there and you're here so i doubt he'll care what you say.
@@cerebralchaos93 neither will you
Wasted 13mins of my life. The guy just makes you do Meditation and makes you think what makes you happy?
Like really dude? Drugs make people Happy. More than Happy.
Sounds more like optimistic nonsense. I doubt this guy actually knows what he's talking about.
What is the harm of being adequately optimistic? If you think about it in a totally utilitarian way, being a proper optimist does not have any harm. It makes someone accept and reality, be grateful, happy, content, and such attitude make others happy too. Debate me, or debate yourself, what harm, what actual harm, would adequate optimism bring? To yourself, to others?
