- Welcome back to “Sequential Synth Tips,” where some of our favorite artists share their tips, tricks, and techniques on Sequential synths.
In this episode, pianist Julian Pollack aka J3PO demonstrates three uses for the Poly-Mod section on the Prophet-5 and Prophet-10.

Excellent tips! I would love to own the Sequential Prophet-10! A real DREAM SYNTH for sure! So powerful!
Have an envelope / Jar and slowly put extra money in it. In an few month you’ll be a happy man.
I clicked on one of the links and saw Hubert Eeves III. He created most of all of the music for James D Train using this synth. The King IMO.
Julian is so good at these deep dive explanations. Thanks for the lesson!!!
My favorite trick is similar to your first description where the Osc B is used as an LFO with keyboard tracking ON. Using a triangle wave I Poly Mod the PW A with the LFO of B. Each note has it's own individual Pulse width modulation speed. I set the highest note to taste for the speed of Osc B frequency and the result is a one oscillator patch with pulse width that is different on each note of a chord. It's even more animated than simple two oscillator detuning. Take the same patch and add filter envelope mod with a slow attack and/or slow decay and the PW is super animated.
Loving that 808 sound! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I just got my P10 desk module. Now I have to start to learn how this fantastic synth works. I am a “preset” type of musician, so I have to get some knowledge about this instrument!🎹🌟🎶❤️
You’re a great teacher my man!
Thanks, like your relaxed way of explaining.
these are great videos series. Would love to see more videos covering sound designing of bread and butter sounds !
Like the sound of those button clicks. Solid
Keep em coming! I just got my p-5 and would love more tips like this! Are there other Easter eggs to this synth? Thanks for the vid 👍
Who heard George Krantz Din Daa Daa? I did, love it.
Wow. Really cool, man.
great vid, thank you
MOAR!!!
Helpful demo
4:39 I guess that's how they made a lot of the early video game sounds I remember
pro tip: watch movies at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
@Dario Idris Definitely, been watching on flixzone for since november myself =)
I used to get the first example with my Casio FZ-1 when only using one poor sample over the entire keyboard. Memory was precious.
You can also make some dark 1980s Halloween 2stuff with the Polymod - :)
Ultra basic matrix modulation + beautiful oscillators & filters = magic
Super it s possible to have an tuto for osc sync thank you ✌️
Should I be hearing a little bit of noise coming through while playing low bass notes with the cutoff set really low? I don't have the noise generator or resonance turned up at all.
how did you just pull out a blank patch?
This is awesome. I just ordered a p10 and I'm horny for tips like this!!
Killer
I wish this synth was stereo and had a few more LFO's and a better modulation matrix. They could have easily done it as it's pretty empty inside. Seems like a missed opportunity. I tried to patch in an outboard LFO but there is nowhere to connect it unless it can be done by midi somehow
