The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

bullseye bullseye !!
Wonderful Shani Wallis. She'll always be Nancy to me.
Panicked for a sec thinking she’d passed…. I had to check online real quick! Still alive! Love her
Beautiful voice, the emotion.on her face is incredible! Powerful ending!
Happy Wednesday... thank you for sharing! 💖
A great singer with a distinctive style.
God what a beautiful voice! My favorite song from Oliver. Even though I would replace he with she . Love you Shannni/ Nancy ❤❤
I was born in the late fall of 1978. I Love the Beautiful, Extremely Talented, Very Intelligent, Artist, Actress, Singer and Dancer Shani Wallis! Shani Wallis is Perfect in all of her performances! It should be Dame Shani Wallis! Shani Wallis should have received the New York Critics Award, the BAFTA Award, the Golden Globe Award, the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Academy Award for best actress in a motion picture for her Beautiful, Brilliant, Classic, Delightful, Excellent, Fantastic, Iconic, Legendary, Outstanding, Perfect portrayal of Nancy in the 1968 Classic Musical Movie Oliver! The 1968 Classic Musical Movie Oliver! is one of my favorite movies of all time! Shani Wallis is one my favorite performers ever!
Beautiful song...beautifully done in the best of times.
Beautiful, even without the Cockney accent, lol. ❤
The best do not understand she did not reach the fame of JULIE ANDREWS..SHE IS JUST AS GOOD different
SHANI WALLIS IS A TRILLION TIMES MORE KIND and TALETED than the arrogant, belligerent, egotistical, foul mouthed, immoral, impertinent, obnoxious, overrated, wooden Julie Andrews who is so limited in talent and stiff that she stooped to doing nude scenes in two movies in the 1980s to lose her Mary Poppin's image! Julie Andrews was miscast in the1965 movie The Sound of Music as Maria! Julie Andrews putdown both the movies Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music all the time! Julie Andrews bombed at the box office after 1965. The1964 film The Americanization of Emily is a highly overrated film!
Thanks for sharing this video,Shani Willis really gave an impassioned rendition of this song.
Have a wonderful day!
Beautiful Song ❤️Wonderful Singer 🌹😌
OOM-PAH-PAH!!!!!!!!!!!
Helloooooooo ed Sullivan show
As it saw the movies OLIVER and WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.
Very beautiful but Judy Garland knocks it out of the park!
Lional Bart wrote this song with all of his heart while thinking only about Judy Garland.
@@CharlieChilders-wm9gb That is not accurate! That is not a fact!
Judy Garland's Version from 1964 is very good but not as good as this! I Love Judy Garland but her voice after 1962 was not as great as it was from 1934 to 1961!
I Love Judy Garland! Judy alters the original lyrics and it as not as powerful as this!
Outstanding Performance! Shani Wallis is always Brilliant! Outstanding Video!
The Beautiful Shani Wallis is Awesome!
Better then Clooney
Excellent!
Cutting her hair is tragic but when i was eight i had a major crush on her and i wanted to do away with bill in a serious way.
Agree, but she had very obvious extensions in Oliver! so I suspect she was no stranger to unflattering haircuts lol.
Georgia Brown is better.
No way! Shani IS Nancy!
decent version but nowhere near the emotional performances of say Eydie Gormé....or Judy or even Shirley Bassey
Love Judy singing this.
I think it was perfectly emotional, but the emotions were not tormented. I saw the sweet and kind character of Nancy singing the song, rather than a cabaret version.
@@Twisterjoe i think this is fair....music is after all subjective and who would deny its impact on a listener
@@jadezee6316 Thank you. I find it easy to picture her rendition bringing the house down as the character, which she was famous for, while the singers you mention were famous for being themselves instead of their characters when they did this type of song. The individualized cabaret version is a different beast from the true broadway interpretations circumscribed by the character and the scene.
This was nowhere near the emotional performance of her own recording of the song which blows everyone else away.
More Rosie Clooney !
Wikipedia states that she turned down an offer to star in The Brady Bunch.
