QBert Levels 1-3

- Another 80's retro flashback, of the original arcade QBert.
It took about 5 tries to remember how to play this game again. I used to tag-play with another person racking up a huge score. He'd play for a few hours, then me for a few hours while he did something else...Until we both had had enough and left it with a few hundred lives racked up. They really should have made this game continue to get more difficult. After level 5, it's basically the same thing over and over. See other levels in seperately posted vid.
we would think that these arcade games wouldv sucked but honestly qbert pacman and centipede and all of those games are still more fun than SOME games these days
EHONASLAY And Donkey Kong
HighWayStudios Along with Mario Bros. and Dragon's Lair. By the way, you should help donate on the Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the movie Dragon's Lair Returns, it would be a good chance to see hand-drawn animation in theaters once again.
*cough* Drive The Desert Bus *cough*
hello it's 2020 now
@the yelorist Ok person with no life
The thing I loved most about this game at the arcade was how, if you jumped off the edge, there was a little hammer inside the bottom of the cabinet that would smack the inside somewhere a split second later, so you could hear and feel this clunk like Qbert was splatting down by your feet somewhere.
That's so awesome!
Wreck-It Ralph is bringin' Qbert back!
When he jumps off the edge you’d hear an actual knocking sound inside the game cabinet
Whenever Qbert dies, he goes "@#$!%", and I remember reading Mad Magazine as a kid, and whenever a character would swear, it would be written like that. So I'm assuming whenever Qbert dies, he yells "FUCK!"
oh lol
Really? It takes you so many logical steps to arrive at the conclusion?
This was my first video game addiction, playing it at Godfather's Pizza in Fairfax, VA by Fairfax Square. I spent a lot of my paper route money playing this one over and over till I conquered the last round and it just repeated it over and over. This brings me right back to that period (late 82 through early 83).
My favourite arcade game. I could literally play for hours. There is a pattern that the AI follows.
QBert's noises still crack me up.
Q'bert watching a violent video game.
"So much blood"
lol
it's funny because that's on tv
he might be watching the kid play GTA 5
The kid's name was Matty and i think he was playing HALO.
Arrr Qbert. I played this back in the arcades in the 80s and on the Atari 2600. Loved seeing him back in Wreck-it-Ralph. Shame old video game references in that film will be lost on the kids today.
A Velvet Rollo you rock at this GAME😉 I love this game in the eighties but I can never get past first level it was nice to see what it looks like in the second & third level LOL
Brought back memories of my youth. Couldn't get enough of this game and it still remains my favourite to this day. You're very good at it!
Nice video. I'm glad to see that you enjoy some of these older arcade games. To this day, they are still some of my favorite games ever.
As for Q*Bert, the farthest I ever went was level 8-4 on the Colecovision. That far in the game, Q*Bert and the creatures move MUCH faster. Sometimes the game can begin to be a problem on level 5-1 unless you're lucky enough to not have your blocks being changed by the little green blob that jumps on them. Level 5 is not too hard, but can be sometimes.
I Like Qbert Voice In Pixels
This blows my mind. I have never say anyone get this fair before. I remember clearing one double changing platform when I was 10ish. Loved the Saturday morning cartoons for this and Pac-Man
Woooaaaaa.. I love this game. Remember my childhood
I'm nuts about this game; I loved it in the arcades. The ColecoVision port was such a poor substitute, and I wish this was available as a retail arcade compilation for the PC. Great gameplay and video!
Q Bert nearly made me cry in Wreck-It Ralph. Seeing abandoned game characters as hobos. WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Q BERT WAS ADORABLE
Thats kinda the reason why I'm here xD
A good "Aussiefied" version of this game would be "Roobert" and you'd control a rock wallaby over rocks, eating all the grass that grew on them and avoiding dingoes, Tasmanian devils and a human trapper. If anyone who designs games reads this and thinks "Okay, I'll have a go" and ends up making a decent game of it, he should make it available on Ipad
God! It's all night with this guy!
This may have been the generation before mine as I wasn't born until 7 years later, but I have played Q*bert, and other classic arcade games, and they are much more fun than the games of today.
For all the Washingtonians here, me and my friends went to Dorky's arcade in Tacoma and played this! It was amazing.
Where at? I just moved to federal way
@@Brokenrocktail it's in tacoma
Just came out on Mobile! This video is legendary. 2007!
Never played this game. I just saw QBert from the Wreak it Ralph trailers. This game looks cool!
Hope you have a good day random person that commented 11 years ago :)
Wow this was made before i was born dec 26 2007
Poor Qbert has his game unplugged in Wreck it Ralph, I wonder why it happened because I remember this game being a classic.
That's why I'm here xD
@@koona1992 I used to play this game when I was a kid. Don't think I was any good at it, but I do remember the speech bubbles when the enemies touch Qbert and the purple snake that hops around.
@@JReed1985 Indeed, this is such a nostalgia trip, also quite the legend you are for replying after 7 years of silence until I showed up.
@@koona1992 thank you, I just hope the new generation consoles will rerelease retro games like Qbert so we can relive our childhood 😀
This looks so fun! I saw a mini arcade at Target and I regret not choosing to get it
One of my favorite games just because of how chaotic it can get
LMAO I swear that snake at 0:22 sounds like it's FARTING!! Thanks for posting this early eighties memory - makes me feel 13 all over again.
God it’s all night with this guy Hey if you’re gonna leave all these lights on I’m not gonna split the electric bill
damn !! i remember this game when i was schoolboy ... so many pocket money i spend for tokens to play and did not buy a breakfast
born in 96 still grew up playing this game... dem pleasant sound effects
The Memories!
qbert is so cute that he makes me wanna cry.
i love Q-bert it never gets old to me
Here's a game that needs the arcade archives treatment.
You make this game look so easy! Kuddos to you sir!!
For the 1st 4 levels (16 boards), I just wing it. Level 2-4 is probably the hardest.. Once you get to level 5, it's essentially the same thing forever, but the objects bouncing from the top to the bottom are random, and the sideways creatures are random, so you can't have a fixed pattern. Most importantly, I know when Slick is about to come out, and I'll get into position to jump on him, to prevent him from messing everything up.

This brings back memories of when i was a kid. :D
Wreck-It-Ralph was right. When did video games get so violent and scary? How did we go from here to stuff like Call of Duty, Resident Evil, and Hatred?
Alot of people do favorite the violent games, however there are many games w/o violence (mostly children's games). There were also many games in the 80s/90s w violent themes such as wreck-it-ralph and many w/o, so i guess its even
ceiling fan What are you talking about?
Because the military-industrial complex couldn't psychologically condition people to fight in wars by playing Q*bert.
Pretty much.
+IgnemFeram01 TBH, video games were always violent. we just have more power to portray the violence accurately.
Never could get the hang of this one.
I had just discovered MAME at the time I made this video (6 yrs ago), and was unaware you had to manually add sound samples (or that they even existed).
Ty. I was wondering. I was like: Ok, this guy can play QBert better than me, shouldn't there be a sound when QBert curses?
Awesome QBert game!!
I played this game as a flash on the internet around 9 years ago, then Wreck-it Ralph re-introduced it to me.
This is really relaxing to watch.
some one put QBert in super smash bros nx
That's mad skills. I always sucked at Qbert. I'd have loved to watch more levels.... never saw what happened that far into the game.
i watch this video every Saturday night
Level 1 on the spectrum is like level 50 on any games console today!
Happy 40th, Q*Bert!
I remember when this game came out in 1982 and how popular it was.
Wreck it Ralph never brought me here I'm 27 so I already knew Qbert and the rest of those game characters in the movie I just wish Mario Luigi & Donkey Kong was in the movie hopefully they will be in part 2 if they make one, and I liked how Ralph gave Qbert and his crew a place to stay in his game
My Q*bernesse is a little rusty. Lol
oh you youngsters! I played this back in 1982 all the time at the movie theater I worked at!
50% of the comments are talking about nostalgia.
25% are about how hard it is
20% are about those annoying green things.
5% is just @#$%!
yeah the green guys are freaking dumb
They make the game harder
List of enemy's that appear in the Q*Bert game:
1. Coily, A purple snake that Begins as an egg and then hatches and chases Q*Bert
2. Ugg and wrongway, two purple creatures that appear on the bottom left or right of the pyramid trying to chase Q*bert as well
3. Slick and Sam, 2 green creatures that change the cubes color it originally was
I first was curious about this game when I was the Nintendo poster on the wall at the video store. One day I give a whirl and I never regret it since.
I loved this game when I was little :)
That green dude pissed me off.
Oh, now I wish I was born in 80's. And Wreck-It Ralph brought me here.
this is giving me me nostalgia
I could be watching one of the greatest QBert players ever.
I am just sad that these arcade games aren't played often like before.
I have never played and i was born in the GameCubes life but I love retros there so fun and classic although I still play the newer zelda games
if qbert came to life would qbert turn into lady lisa?
Mona Katherine Every guy's dream.
Mona Katherine You saw the movie! SPOILER ALERT: that happens. BTW, did you like it? The movie, I mean.
MTVlogs and lots of girls as well
Dogstarsful i did yes! i loved it, what about you?
Mona Katherine LOVED IT!!!!!!! Awesome-ly EPIC!!!!
Wow, I'm not worthy...played this as a kid...All I can say...u got skillz
This looks strangely entertaining...
Left right up down square Albert dang you!
Surely one of the surrealist games ever.
Retro Gamer (Issue 119) brought me to this video!
I just watched Pixels, and it was so stupid that they turned Q-Bert into Lady Lisa!!!
I actually don't like potty humor and I'm very mature, but that snake sounds like a high pitched fart. Made me chuckle. :D
It would be great for me to see the Q VAL deviantart for the first time ever. I've read from the TV Guide article segment regarding what it said about Wilma Flintstone; saying that this time, Wilma is more foxier than Betty Rubble. Q VAL has a strong reference to Wilma Flintstone; Q VAL is more foxier than Q Tee. Since Q VAL has sure grabbed my attention the most. There are some deviantarts that deal with Q'Bert, COILY, and Viper however still.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Ha, ha! Q-BERT! I haven't seen this video game since 1984!
Anybody remember the feel of a metal ball hitting the ground whenever the snake was clobbered. If you weren't around for the Arcade Game you missed out on this.
I LOVED PAC MAN,AND SPACE INVADER👾👾👾i have played them when i was about 5(and now I am 10)but have never played Qbert
I love Qbert he's so adorable
Had this bad boy on my Sony Ericsson t630
you are really good. Much better than I was...
Dunno why this is in my recommended but im really not complaining tbh
You just ruined my childhood. I could never get past level 3-2.
thanks to the 2015 film that must not be named I now consider these kind of games evil.........
One of my fav games
indeed
At my school it was career day and we got to meet the creator of Qbert
Aww the nostalgia!
Oh wow, this game looks so difficult!
Yeah, it's pretty hard.
Here is the Quote: "Following a suggestion from technician Rick Tighe, a pinball machine component was included to make a loud sound when a character falls off the pyramid. The sound is generated by an internal coil that hits the interior of a cabinet wall." Too bad this can't be reproduced.
I used to have the tiny little home arcade one.
i think everyone here just looked up qbert just because wreck-it-ralph well not me i just love all these OLD arcade games
THIS GAME MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE!!!!!
MY BRAIN!!! -:9
As a kid I could only get so far because we had a black-and-white TV. On some levels I could not tell the difference of color. LOL
Such a peculiar great game
This game was very tough for me
Same
Q*bert: Goddammit, I just wanna jump on some blocks why are you blobs and snakes all hassling me?!
Gah, its all night with this guy! lol
I jump squares like this when avoiding neighbors at my apartment complex, it's like oh that crazy guy in apt 3 jump right now jump left...the cranky old woman in apt 12 jump right now left and another left
By the way you will get more points if you let Coily drop into the chasm by using the discs. For dropping Coily you get 500 points. If you leave the discs you get only 50 points each.
SO GOOOD
I could never do well on this game. I was too single minded about changing all colours as quickly as possible, often getting killed before the end of the first screen. It's fun to watch a good player, but I wasn't one of them.
I used to LOVE this game when i was a kid for nes. I just got the snes rom version its good too. But this old nintendo one has the feeling of more raw intensity i think. The sound is not the same as when i played it though hm.
same here I also wanted to see gameplay of it so I can play this at the arcade
500 more views and we're at 1 million, let's go!!!
i had qbert on intellivision 1978 --- ah the good ol' days
TheGreatWent1,, i was introduced to this game in 1981
at a symposium for severe weather spotters in Waukesha wis, at the collage there. i loved it then and was lucky enough to obtain a copy for m playstation system, which I still have when we went from games like this one, to games that glorify murder ,auto theft and gore in general, is beyond me,I'll stay home and play games such as qbert frogger defender joust and the likes of those any day thank you very much if you have a home game system such as ps2 ,seaga, xbox ect. you can obtain a copy of qbert, on line at amazon
get a copy and enjoy qbert until the cows come home
and add your imagination,, each time you start a new game,,, imagine putting a "quarter" into the machine .
have fun!!! laugh at poor ole qbert! that's what he's there for. and SCREW grand theft auto.
