Hearing about your type 4 friend gardening has brought such a deep understanding of why I feel so much more whole than I did years ago. I can see and love the magic of nature and study herbalism. I find instead of subduing my uniqueness - I just combine it with the ordinary.
For example, when I study the Latin names of herbs, I pretend I'm a wizard learning spells loll. It gives normal life the magic I desire. The ordinary doesn't have to be boring.
You are life changing. Truly grasp the four so much. It helps me tremendously

I think as a type 4, the desire to be unique that separates us and the need for connection that requires us to fit in can be balanced. For example, I can quite happily skip down a street with my five-year-old niece and receive smiles from strangers, but I would not skip down the same street by myself as a middle-aged man because that might frighten the more sober members of society. Equally, I have taken a bubble wand and blew bubbles to a room full of 40 people when I was the Wordmaster at a Toastmasters meeting to help members to understand how to use the word effervescent in their speeches. Still, I wouldn't start blowing bubbles at a funeral. I suppose what I'm saying is you can let out the whimsy and wonder inside you to make the world more magical for yourself and those around you and still get the mundane practical aspects of life done, too. Basically, we can tweak the nose of reality and connect with others by showing them how malleable their reality truly is, by showing them that there is a little magic to be found everywhere we go because we bring the magic with us.

I also started gardening and yes the maintenance can be hard, yet I have started to tend more to it so that is such a lovely idea.
