I'm glad the rotaries are proper rotaries now. And I'm glad Fanatec managed to fix the shifter without getting rid of the push/pull function. I already have a McLaren GT3 rim, but I'll be putting in my order for the new one.
@@neelnag627 Well, I really wanted a GT3 Style wheel and the Formula one was close in shape. Some advantages are the quick release and the vibration motors but the McLaren GT3 looks sick !
Important to note is that it's also completely compatible with Playstation! As long as you have a PS compatible wheel base. That means you can use it on any platform, which is awesome.
I have the original version of this wheel for my CSW base and I like it a lot. Even though I have had the infamous shifter issue and it has a little bit of flex, but based on what I’ve seen this new version means to rectify those issues. Aside from that it is a lovely rim, the grip and feel is great and it has great utility. I just hope this new version fixes the problems of the previous one, because doing surgery on a month old rim shouldn’t be necessary. And finally great video as always, I find that this channel brings a unique perspective and that is greatly appreciated 😊
I have the V1 version as well which I bought when they offered the rim with the metal QR bundle. It has been my daily driver and I am one of the lucky ones that has never experienced the shifter problem. I also have ordered the V2 version while it is available just in case it goes away again. I will probably use the new V2 since it does have some upgrades and put my original V1 up as a spare. I am glad they make these again and for the price there is no better rim with these features on the market period.
I had 3 of the original McLaren rims, replaced and repaired by Fanatec and finally refunded. I will be getting this as soon as its released. But price isn't all that cheap if you include the quick release into the cost, it adds another $170 AUD !!!!!!!!
Interesting; I might have to consider this at some point in the future. I just finished getting my clubsport set in the door that I picked up in the Black Friday sale to replace my knackered G27. I ended up with the BMW GT2 rim as I wanted a round wheel to start with, and its sale price was too good to turn down. Work has meant that I haven’t been able to do much other than unbox everything, but the feel alone already puts it on a completely different level from my old Logitech. I do want a formula-style wheel at some point down the road, and until this arrived that was going to be the formula v2 I don’t see the point of the clubsport formula at only US$70 less - the v2 adds so many controls that I’m surprised the two are priced so closely. This new McLaren wheel easily makes a far stronger case, and makes the decision that bit harder.
Logitech and thrustmaster are junk ass toys. Go look up real sim gear and fanatec is budget you idiot's. Only cheap ass people buy thrustmaster or logitech
3:35 As the original had these and was released before the Formula V2, are these a better quality than the original, or did you want to say "just like the Formula V2" ? 3:58 I think it displays the speed too, but it depends on the game. [EDIT] (with french accent) Ah few secoonds laiteur... speed shows during the in use footage. I got the original McLaren wheel on release and as it was delayed was given the QR adapter. The clutch pedals do get some ghosting once in a while, or how you call them not going to 0 or suddenly going up to 30-ish? As a package, it's one of the lightest and cheapest aaand has the clutch pedals, so it's very good bang-for-buck value. With a BMW, original Formula and the very light CSL P1 rim, this is still the one I drive with. Good review!
I'm incredibly doubting this one. Add the metal quick release for another €100 and you're €50 over the ClubSport F1 wheel and just €70 under the Formula V2. They should've included the quick release with this one instead.
So on the Fanatec site when purchasing the McLaren V2 wheel, it says it’s compatible for Xbox, PS4 and PC. Then you’re sent it branded for Xbox? So does the wheel work for all consoles despite this? Thanks

I feel like whatever they charge it will be in the range of wheels that have not only backlit buttons but large displays built into the wheel. At that price level with those wheels your paying for a screen you can run dash apps on. With Fanatec your paying for an FIA approval stamp and compatibility with a real car 99% of us will never drive or own it even see in real life? What?

I believe Playstation compatibility is determined by the wheel base rather than the wheel rim. So long as the CSL Elite is compatible with the Playstation ecosystem, it should be fine.
