That fan is gonna be in a bar in a few years telling everyone he has 3 saves for the savanah bananas by himself not even on the payroll but in the stat book forever!
It is a show. Not necessarily scripted, but a lot of uniquely talented ball players and some imaginative rules that add some zest to the game. A fun approach to bring non-fans or casual fans to the game of baseball. Very similar to what the Harlem Globetrotters did for basketball.
It’s kind of impossible to script a baseball game, which partially makes them even more impressive performers. You have no idea if a pitch is going to be wrong, if someone drops a catch, someone accidentally hits a home run, etc. If you’re doing this type of baseball show, you need to be prepared to react to *anything* that could happen
Banana Ball is significantly different from baseball though, and many of the trick plays require significant skill. Not that the Globetrotters weren't skilled, they definitely were, but Banana Ball is a legitimate competition, not just exhibition games. Globetrotters were like 90% show, Banana Ball is more like 50/50.
I saw a Bananas game for the 1st time lady year & I expected something like a Harlem Globe Trotters exhibition. I found this FAR more worthwhile! For just one difference , the Bananas don’t always win, making for a more involving competition! 2. The rules are sometimes ridiculous (“Rock, paper, scissors” for instance), but some are legitimately good ideas (a foul ball caught by a fan counts as an out)! An altogether FUN experience. I received a special Bananas gift pack - a shirt, a sticker, & a coozie - for Christmas because of my avid support for what the Bananas are promoting. Great job, Savannah & if y’all haven’t witnessed a game of theirs, don’t hesitate to go. It’s FUN! 👍
No it's validated I grew up at Grayson stadium, when it was the cardinals. This is a different thing and yes a show but I would encourage even a baseball fan to attend. The history in that stadium is unreal. Babe Ruth played in it, it was a professional park in old times and is a museum for the great pasttime
I would love very much to be on the Bananas. They are having the time of their lives and playing baseball!!! But for now I am waiting for them to come to Las Vegas.

Many things are practiced, planned for, but the results are in good fun, I’m not sure how scoring and winning works, but these games still are random as far as who’s going to win.
Of course they are athletes; they demonstrate a much higher level of athleticism than seen in standard baseball, or maybe it’s just that we don’t fall asleep being bored to death.
I get it that you don’t like it. And that’s fine, you don’t have to like it. But in your prejudice, don’t make the mistake of discrediting these players athleticism. A little logic will tell you that these guys need to have a high level of athleticism in order to pull off their hijinks. Yea, there’s some dancing and “yukking it up” going on, but throw someone in the mix with a low level of athleticism in there and I guarantee you they wouldn’t be able to pull it off.
