I really enjoyed this video and your honesty, Sai! Thank you for sharing what you've been going through with self-doubt. I also deal with it all the time. Even though I've been working on my writing for nearly 18 years, have written 200+ blog posts, and published five books, I still encounter fear and self-doubt on a regular basis. I used to think it was bad and tried to drum it out of myself but that didn't work and just made me miserable. Then I realized after reading more blogs and interviews with writers and artists that most of them (especially the ones that are trying to continuously improve and not just rest on their laurels) struggle with fear and doubt on a regular basis. Creativity and fear go hand in hand. So, always remember that you're not alone; in fact, you're in good company. 🌸

I really relate to your past struggles of trying to follow what I'm passionate about when everyone around me is a bit against it... On one side I want my parents to be proud and what I want is not aligned with what they think I will become if it makes sense... Art is always a touchy subject I feel like, especially where I live, art is still not considered as a "worthy job" but I have a whole long list of people to prove me wrong (including you) and I always get inspired watching other people following their artistic paths and such 😅 sorry for the long ramble, moral of the story, this is your life and yours only don't compare with others and do what makes you content 🖤
I've been working 10pm and 4am this whole week and there really is a quiet and calm that is unmatched around that time. I love how vulnerable and real you are with us. Your art is everything and I hope you continue to grow in self-acceptance and your definition of success. There will always be people who relate to you and your art so chin up 😌 Can't wait to see your work!

Thank you so much for this video! It helped me. I have a similar story with regards to art. My art teacher really did not like me or my work and I felt very discouraged to study art (also it is expensive to study art and my family is quite poor). To have some financial security in the end i decided to study something more substantial i guess and never liked it. Now I am in a job i don't like very much but it pays well so in these unsure times of course I stick to it. However, especially in recent times I started picking up art again and youtubers like you and friends helped me get a better perspective on things. Now i started learning digital art and slowly want to pick up own projects. It feels good. Also I live in a country were this kind of art was seen as childish and not taken serious (maybe still is..) and my family also does not approve of art so that always kept me back. I am happy to finally have gotten this back for myself...and it helps hearing stories from other peoples around the world who had similar struggles. Wishing you all the best!

I can relate to loving anime and having it as an art style, but being one of the few who knew what it was. Even if now people say they loved Sailor Moon etc., back then only a handful of people really watched anime so it was difficult. Please put yourself first, always! I love your videos and really enjoy when you post, but please don't feel bad if you can't. We'll be here.

Hi and thank you for your video.. I relate to self-doubt + dispelling all the preconceived notions of what art is, and what is to be taken seriously or not. I am in my 30s and I have finally taken the plunge. Though I am proud of myself that I finally put myself out there, the remaining bits of tension are just the layers and layers of opinions/-mis-truths that have been ingrained in me. It takes a while... but taking the time for yourself (ie not feeling pressured to constantly create content, being patient with oneself..and simply listening to our own sensibilities) is what will help us all prevail (haha)! Again, thank you... and might I add: the world you have created/are creating is absolutely amazing! :) Cheers!

My art teacher and some relatives thought the same thing about my anime-style drawings. Its good you persevered through other people’s opinions about what is art. You can’t satisfy everyone’s taste and expectations. Wish you the best of luck on your artistic journey💛 love from Kuwait

I think sometimes self doubt gives us a sense of reality and learning to cope with things are okay. I enjoy your work and know that you are helping someone with your work. Btw, curious cat here: where are you from? I get some Australia in your accent, but now you mentioned moving to Australia, and you take Japanese lessons, sooo. Sorry, I'm really really curious. Ignore me if you don't feel comfortable sharing that info. 😉
Btw, why do we do that? I spend half my time procrastinating, the othwr half finding arguments for not drawing or painting because it just won'tbe perfect. Stupid!
