Oh, YES!!!!!!!!!! So glad to see you reacting to this... One of my all time fave by The Band... maybe the most beautiful song about
unrequited love that's ever been written or sung... An absolute gem!! Those harmonies... and Rick Danko's passion!!

Fabulous memory. Such a shame 3 men gone way too early. RIP Richard, Levon and Rick.

This song touches everyone who have loved and lost. Robbie Robertson wrote the song, and Rick Danko is singing it. Just perfect.

Beautiful song and Garth Hudson's sax parts are absolutely ethereal.

The reason you didn't see the saxophone player earlier is that he was playing the organ throughout the song. The saxophone is the gift that jazz gave to rock and roll.

Rick Danko blows the doors off with his vocals!

The Band were all multi-instrumentalists. Garth also play organ, piano, and accordion. The fathers of Americana music.

Robbie wrote it with Rick in mind. Felt he would sing it without it coming off as self pity, he was right.

They have so many more great songs, Check out the version from The Last Waltz.

The version in the film is longer, but a little more elusive on here. I'd say there are at least 24 more measures, maybe more.

Garth Hudson was incredible. He could play anything. A producer once said he saw Garth playing two different melodies at the same time; one with each hand. Amazing musician.

If you are wanting more saxophone check out "I don't want to be a soldier" live at the Moore by Mad Season. It's a John Lennon cover...it won't disappoint.

Check this girl out. Angelina Jordan today at 16 yrs old is already the best Jazz singer on the Planet! Soon to be one of the Best Vocalists of All Time. ♥👣👸🏻
Angelina won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8 yrs old after starting the competition at 7 yrs old. The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. Her next performance was a beautiful rendition of 'Bang, Bang' by Sonny & Cher and performed most famously by Nancy Sinatra. She won the competition with what I consider her first Masterpiece performance of 'Summertime' by George Gershwin. Shortly after winning she was designated a National Treasure by the Norwegian people. ♥👣👸🏻
My list. Some of her best. IMO
Her first song was Whitney Houston 'I Will Always Love You'? at 18 months. Angelina is the Grand Master of Jazz! She could teach a Master Class at 8 years old.
