The mixer will mix the rf input with the local oscillator to give you the sum of both waves and the difference of both waves. The signal between the sum and difference is ur outputs I believe. I know its a good way to get gain. Don’t know where the heck I learned it. Seems like the internet still needs a be all end all radio tutorial. Im wondering what happens when we tune the local oscillator. We need a 3d animation of the workings of fm. That would be fun
