Have you tried learning your language through reading? What's your favorite book (or another reading material)?

No I haven't tried learning by reading a book. But I am going to attempt to read my first Russian book starting at the end of this July.

Cool! It's nice to hear you speaking Russian, Lydia. You pronounce sounds exactly as Russian people do :) I have a question. Are the stories in the books the same, just translated into different languages?Or they differ depending on the language? Or just the names of the characters differ?

Hey Katyarom, the stories are different so you can't use them as bilingual texts if that's what you meant. Thabks for the compliment :)

The plots are basically the same, but the stories differ in some details. So you couldn't use two books and put them phrase by phrase into Anki, but you can use a book in a language you know to understand what's going on in the story.

Reading short stories works. I've been learning my target language for 3 1/2 years now, and I'm currently at a B2 level. I've done a lot of reading for about 2 years now, and I noticed immediately how quickly I learnt new words and internalized grammar patterns naturally.

If you need the Russian language for life you should improve your Russian pronunciation.
