21:52 Actually, he got all of the orders correct. Kronk was speaking diner lingo. For example, the woman said "A steak cut in a shape of a trout". Kronk said, "Change bull into a gill."
I really like this film! Probably the funniest Disney film ever made, next to Aladdin and Hercules in my opinion. Both Kronk and Yzma are the best part to me, honestly. Their dynamic is just too good!
The movie originally was supposed to be a musical. A serious sweeping epic like Lion King was. But it got stuck in development hell, went through a ton of rewrites, and eventually it just sort of devolved into the very sarcastic wacky comedy that we know and love today.
And Sting made most of the songs. But when the tone drastically changed, only 2 songs stayed in the film. The end credits one. And the one sung by Tom Jones at the beginning.
I think I like it more that way. The way the characters are presented is so well-thought out, especially Kronk and Izma.
"Pull the level Kronk" is one of the most iconic Disney lines up there with "Hakuna Matata - it means no worries" and "Magic Mirror on the wall who is the fairest one of all?".
It's the first thing my little sister mentionned when she talked to me about this movie.
Even if, as a french, I grew up with Yzma shouting " Not this oooone !!! "
Although I think that last one is misquoted more often than not, you do have a point.
We quoted this movie non stop in my household. As an adult now when I see my siblings we still quote it as our inside jokes.
Especially “boom baby!” “Wrong lever!!!” “A llama? He’s supposed to be dead!” “No touchy” and of course “beware the groooove”
We still say the whole put this box in another box bit whenever we talk about an overly complicated plan 😅
Yall must have had a blast when llamas became the new owls for the collective 😂🦙
Kuzco is best disney princess. Okay but seriously though I adore how they didn't make him directly apologize or say something like he was wrong. He learned his lesson, retained most of his personality but gained a level of empathy he was missing and rather than directly admit his mistakes he fixed them with a different justification for changing his mind. Made peace with that poor old man that he had thrown out the window earlier and then telling Pacha he wasn't going to build over his home because he "didn't hear any singing." rather than finally feeling some form of empathy and care for the people living there, which we and Pacha know is the real reason.
‘Uh ho’
‘Don’t tell me, we’re about to go over a huge waterfall?’
‘Yep’
‘Sharp rocks at the bottom?’
‘Most likely’
‘Bring it on’
7:12 What's also a small but extra funny detail is... when Yzma sneakily throws her drink behind her, the plant behind her turns into a llama plant. ;)
And in reference to your comment about celebrity voice actors, you make a good point. The obsession with having celebrities as your voice actors only really started with Robin Williams as the Genie in Aladdin. That was a huge selling point for the movie. From there it just became a popular thing to make celebrities into voice actors. It’s still around quite a bit today, but with the representation of cultures Disney has been trying to accomplish within the past few years, I think their concern has more been to get authentic actors that fit the culture than A-list actors that every American would know. I applaud them for that. 👍🏻
It started before well before that. Disney cast Eva Gabor in Aristocats and Rescuers. The Fox and the Hound was almost ALL celebrity cast, from Mickey Rooney to Pearl Bailey. The Great Mouse Detective had Vincent Price voice the villain (awesomely). No, they weren't "a-list" actors, but they were names everyone knew, and they were draws to the movie (at least, for the parents buying the tickets).
@@liljenborg2517 It obviously wasn’t the first time, but weren’t most of those people you mentioned more stars of stage and radio? 🤔 That was more their casting realm for a long time, I feel. And Robin was the one to really get the ball rolling. Or maybe his was just noticed much more than the ones before since Disney was so financially troubled in the 70s and 80s.
There really is an A List voice performer in the cast, but like Yzma, she hit her stride 50 years ago. Eartha Kitt was one of the preeminent jazz singers of the 1960s.
The movie ‘Klaus’ was released at the end of 2019. It’s an incredible hand drawn 2D animated movie that looks 3D. From my understanding, there are a few 3D rendered elements, but the vast majority of it is beautiful 2D animation with a newly incorporated lighting technique!
Funniest Disney movie! I have no idea why they never made more with this humor. Like this movie is universally loved! Take a hint, Disney. This is what we want!
Thanks for reacting to it! And all laughter to mix it up :)
Simply because, without being a bomb (Atlantis, TreasurePlanet, Home Of The Brave...), it wasn't successful enough to justify anything else than some DTV.
The Brazilian dub of this film is a national treasure
One of the biggest highlights is "scary beyond all reason" being translated as "feia que nem briga de foice" (ugly as a scythe fight)
When he was repeating the order; he heard what she said but changed it to cook's shorthand. You missed the adult joke of Kronk "pitching a tent" when they were sleeping😂
Cut to me performing a one woman show of the entire movie😂 LOVE this movie.
If I'm totally honest, I didn't understand the hype around this movie when it first came out. However, as I got older I grew to love it more and more. The comedy in it was SO far ahead of its time! I quote this movie constantly.
This movie is always so nostalgic! Glad you finally got to see it!
If you liked Coraline, the company made several other films.
- Kubo and the Two Strings is a roller coaster.
- Corpse Bride is a film that fans believe is part of the same universe as Nightmare Before Christmas.
Fun fact: Emperor's New Groove is the first animated Disney movies to show a pregnant woman.
22 YEARS AGOOO!!!!!??????? OH MY GOD I NEVER THINK IT WAS THAT OLD. IM SO OLD 🤧🤧🤧
They actually still make 2d films as well as other animated film styles that aren't 3D. They're just not used very often. Klaus is actually a 2D. :)
i think he means Disney specifically. i don’t think Klaus is a Disney movie.
The Princess and The Frog is, I believe, the latest hand drawn animation from Disney.
This movie was considered a flop when it released but I honestly think is one of the best movies Disney ever made, it’s been like 20 years and it’s still in my top 5.
26:58 You were in sync with Kronk! I absolutely love it. XD
Yeah no, celebrities getting cast on animated films is unfortunately still happening, and won't stop happening because celebrities became a huge selling point after Disney marketed the shit out of Robin William playing Genie in Aladdin (even though he explicitly requested them not to.)
Nowadays it depends on the studio. Dreamworks and Illumination films have an all-star cast most of the time, while other studios use a few. I'm pretty sure Hollywood investors don't even consider green lighting an animated film if the cast doesn't have at least ONE popular celebrity.
9:44 theres actually a recent movie made in traditional animation, its called Klaus, its a Netflix original christmas film
While I would love to see another hand drawn animated film again, somebody pointed something out that I think is an unfortunate truth. CGI animation nowadays seems to be more family oriented in the public eye, while traditional animation has somehow cemented into peoples’ brains as “kids’ stuff”. Seems like the last couple of traditionally animated movies put out by Disney or otherwise have been badly received compared to the computer animated ones and I fear that might be part of it.
Hm that's a weird thought 🤔 In terms of disney at least traditional and CGI have the same vibes... arent all disney movies family oriented?! 😂
@@artsysabs Yes, they are! 😆 but for people who are not regular Disney viewers, I think that’s where more of the doubt comes in. Traditional/2D animation seems more evident in kids cartoons more than big budget animated family films nowadays so I think people have made that association.
Do yourself a favor and look up the legendary Eartha Kitt!! She is one of the FIRST A-list stars. She was a gift to this franchise.
Check out my new video that just dropped on UA-cam! Ice Age: Continental Drift ua-cam.com/video/7bHn8JZhMfk/v-deo.html
One of my favorite Disney movies ever! And definitely the funniest.
I like this movie and I seen it when I was little and it's my favorite movie from my childhood and it's a good movie but not funny about this movie and it's still a good movie but not funny about this movie and do you agree with me about what I say right
This movie is my favorite so underrated
Only animals that were turned into animals from humans can talk and be understood by us. Kind of makes that scene with the fly a bit darker lol
The thing that I think really helps this movie rise to the top is that the "good" guy Kuzco is bad, and that the "bad" guy Kronk is so good. That different dynamic plays out so well because you almost end up rooting for and against both sides at times.
Kronk was in the sequel called Kronks new groove, there was also a tv show about kuzco when he was a teen I believe
He should definitely react to Kronk's New Groove! I saw it for the first time last year, and I enjoyed it. :)
Decided to subscribe 2 ur patreon,
my first time paying for someone’s patreon😊
I appreciate u, JV!
"Wrong Leveeeeeeeeer!" Classic! This Film Has An Underrated Sequel And TV Series, All Three Of Which Eartha Kitt (RIP) Voices Yzma In!
This is the most underrated Disney film of all time. It's so HILARIOUS but criminally unknown and unwatched by so many and critics didn't help by saying "it wasn't a good movie cause it didn't feel like Disney." Like WHAT???
This, mulan, and Oliver & company are my favorite movies!!
Brought to you by Disney starring David Spade as Emperor Kuzko with John Goodman as Pacha
It’s been years since I seen the movie in full, but yeah I think he has no parents, like they possibly died maybe; Yzma said once in the beginning after she was fired “I practically raised him”
Which also explains why Kuzco isn’t the greatest person in the beginning 😂
There is a "sequel". Kronk's New Groove.
The pinata's scene always kills me LOL ... La escena de la piñata siempre me mata de risa JAJAJAJA
I love this one! People keep talking about Frozen, when this is a thousand times better!
i’m pretty sure pacha’s wife was the first ever on screen animated pregnant woman??? or something like that??? so that’s neat. (i mean there are scenes in lady & the tramp where darling is present and we know she’s pregnant but we don’t really SEE her)
The intro is back!!!
😂😂😂😂 this movie came out my senior year of high school, and I saw it in theaters at least 8 times!
One of my favorite Disney movies, so many great quotes!! My daughter loves it, too. We always quote, "A LLAMA?!?!? He's supposed to be dead!!!"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
For my little sister, it was the level scene even if as french we grew up with Yzma shouting " Not this oooone " when she fells
@@emmanuelharris6445 no no in the movie. Like I said before, I'm french and in the french version Yzma shouts " Not this oooone !!!! " during her fall
The old man that accidently threw Kuzco's groove and tossed out the window, his name is Rudy and is voiced by late John Fiedler who for decades voiced Piglet from Winnie the Pooh and The Blustery Day way up to Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie (released after his death in 2005). He also voiced Deacon Owl in The Rescuers and Father Sexton in Robin Hood.
It made me happy to see you finally watch this movie.
26:53 they fell into a plot hole. That's how they got to the castle first
Still to this day this and the sequel reign supreme in my mind...Peak Disney comedy
This movie is so much funny, we laugh a lot with it at home!
Please, react to RIO! It's a perfect animation about Brazil, I love it so much!
I love this movie so much! It's a hidden gem. 💕
Thank u for doing this movie. I love it.. Mitchell's vs the Machines for artistry drawing plus a great movie. Oh as far as popular actors concern it was hard to get anyone to do them back then. Other actors jumped at them.😕
the last 2D disney movie was the princess and the frog from 2009 and I hope they make another one someday
Loooove this movie! An underrated gem for sure. 🤗❤️
I love this movie too and I seen it when I was little and it's my favorite movie from my childhood and it's a really good movie but not funny about this movie and it's still a good movie but not funny about this movie and do you agree with me about what I say right
The singer is Tom Jones!
You should react to Klaus, it's beautiful and I think it's partly handdraw, it's definately 2D. It's on netflix. Would highly recommend
During Kuzco’s funeral speech Yzma mentions how Kuzco had died on his 16th birthday. His parents i think died in a ship wreck or something.
This movie was hilarious and the lines are memorable 20years later.
There is a sequel called kronks new groove
There is a lot of celebrity names in the cast of this movie, but I always thought of that as the "new trend". You see, back in the days, most voice over work was made by actual voice actors.
Disney was among the first with casting the genie from Alladin with famous Robin Williams, but I feel like the celebrity craze really peaked somewhere around Shrek 😆
I think it works either way, since voice acting and regular acting really isn't too different. But sometimes it feels like they put big names in a movie just to draw a croud, and it feels a bit cheap.
10:00 _"Back in the Day,"_ from your perspective, yes I guess they did use celebrities. But the *true* _back in the day,¹_ that wasn't the case. It was less common to have celebrities doing voices in an animated film. You might have *one,* _maaayybe._ But then it became all the rage. And now, virtually everyone who's in an animated film is voiced by someone famous. Which is why many modern animated films are being sold based on the voice talent involved.
*Re:* _The Tick,_ I was more a fan of the 1994 cartoon.
*EDIT:* 13:00 The fly crying _"Help me!!!"_ is a take off of the original 1958 horror film _The Fly._
··•✺•··
¹ ─ Technically, _further back in the day._ 😏
I really wish Disney would make more movies like this
YAAAY THE INTROS BACK!!! :D
Not Disney but a studio called Cartoon Saloon still makes hand drawn animated movies that are gorgeous to behold. I recommend the Secret of Kells and The Bread Winner, both are by that studio.
I'm not sure if I've already commented this on one of your past videos or not, but I can't recommend enough that you watch the Disney movie Dinosaur from the year 2000. It's on Disney+. In my opinion; Dinosaur's a criminally underrated masterpiece, and one of the two greatest Disney movies of all time alongside The Lion King (1994). But that's just my opinion. Please don't get angry at me and please respect my opinion
One ICONIC role David Spade did is, Joe Dirt. If you ever get the time please watch it!
I don't know if it's actually any good because I haven't seen it in years but my friends and I had a good time with "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star"
One of my favorite Disney movies 😅😭
Along the likes of Lilo & Stich, ENG is one of those "smaller" Disney films that become a fan favourite in no time (like some of their bombs, as Atlantis, Dark Cauldron or Treasure Planet).
Thanks for the great reaction!
Great reaction! This was a really good movie!
Cannot wait to see this one JV!
This movie is like so hilarious to me!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When this movie came out, me and my friends were quoting it every 5 minutes. Sooooo many good memes!
Princess and the Frog was the last hand drawn Disney movie if I'm remembering correctly.
You should check out Treasure Planet at some point! It was the last hand drawn Disney movie before Disney came back to do Princess and the Frog.
Disney did try going back to their 2D formula with The Princess and the Frog in 2009 and the movie didn't perform as well as they wanted it to. Before that, their last theatrical 2D releases were Bambi II in 2006, also underperformed, and Home in the Range on 2004, which underperformed a lot. CGI brought the big bucks and when Tangled in 2010 outperformed The Princess and the Frog Disney didn't look back.
Edit: Oh, I forgot about Winnie the Pooh in 2011. I think that was the real last attempt cause that one underperformed too. 😅
Tiny tent keeping his... wang safe from the weather, if there's any weather.
Eartha Kitt played a purrfect catwoman in the batman series
I will be so happy to see your brother bear reaction. Just a fact in my native Cree language we say chee-chee for brother and muskwa means bear
Eartha Kitt NOT A-list??? thems fightn' words!
This is my favorite movie. Hands down.
The singer in the beginning always reminds me of Elton John. Really like this movie. I have seen it many time already
Yess! This movie is so funny. I watched it so many times growing up it’s always been my dad’s favorite movie
grew up watching this movie
The great classics Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Bebe's Kids 🎉!!
So excited about the next movies 🤩🤩 I've been requesting for Brother Bear in a while
The tick was great. It was before its time and aimed at adults back when they thought superheroes were just for kids so the marketing was weird. It never had a big following and was expensive to produce so it got canceled.
The Tick. I watched that series. It was definitely very funny. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it yet.
9:31 There's a hand-drawn animated movie coming to theaters this May. It's called _The Bob's Burgers Movie,_ and I can tell you with almost complete certainty, it's going to be a big success.
Classic movie lol ..
In Japan, their studio only do motion pictures, no CGI... If only it were still like that in our territory
Kronk works for Ysma because he gets paid for working for her.
One of the best movies based in latam
I can’t believe it was released in 2000. It’s still funny and my childhood memory
A movie I want to mention is "Titan A.E.". I think you would love it, but it is probably not a good fit for your daughters yet.
It is not from disney and gets often overlooked, but for me as a Star Trek fan it is one of the best kids movies ever made.
Cool :D The intro is back. Naruto is my favourite anime of all time, so I'm glad it's back.
also! if you want to watch a more recent 2D animated movie, you could watch Klaus! (if you haven't already lol) it's about Christmas :D
You should definitely react to the Disney movie Holes if you haven’t seen it yet! Another underrated but very loved movie!
I recomend you to watch Hercules, such a great movie with great soundtrack and characters
Nice reaction! Loved this one :)
I am personally fine with voice actors being picked because they fit the roles instead of them being popular.
