Favorite car I ever owned. Love the stock motor. Super reliable
Yes they are super reliable i have 2 of them and they all ways start and run and never give out general maintenance dose help though lol
Dude I think I'm 99% sure you figured out my issue with this car thanks dude
93 Accord - STOCK 100k miles
Engine light, and I gotta code 43. That was last month, no performance loss until a few days ago.
Start it cold, and when it gets at idle it starts to BOG to the point of almost stalling, but then it picks back up again to normal. It then 'loops' as it gets warmer.
Regardless, I still took it for a spin, and the BOG makes it lose power, immensely.
This is a pattern, and it tells me that it has something to do with HEAT, therefore, it's mechanical. . . I think(?)
I have a new fuel filter I'm getting ready to install while using the video you also provided, but I don't think that's the problem. Reason being, again, the symptoms are a pattern and a filter has no moving parts.
I await your reply.
Btw, great video on the filter replacement. Best one on the net!
Thanx😎
A code 43 is normally a bad 02 sensor or a bad cat possibly. as far As the loping is concerned whenever it gets too temperature is probably your idle air control valve you can block off the secondary one on the side it's not needed. but the main fast idle valve Needs to be adjusted I am sure. All so make sure your coolant level is okay and there's no air in the system. If none of those things work then start checking your vacuum lines for something being disconnected or dry rooted hope this helps thanks for watching and being a subscriber please check out my cb7 media page on Facebook
@@CB7Media Yeah, I already adjusted the Idle diaphragm, and I got about a 1.5 turn out of it. Quite a bit!
That wasn't the prob though.
Am I correct when I say that if there's air in the coolant it could be hindering a mechanical part that works off of HEAT?
The gasket for the EGR was cracked on one side when I removed the part. No resistance at all. Mof, I didn't even know that the cracked corner was left behind until I looked at it. Could be a leak -- it was located by one of the studs.
There's a hissing I noticed before I started this. I'm hoping that's what it was. This is a very CLEAN car, like NEW. Kept in a garage for 9ber 15 years.
Btw, those nuts are going to be quite difficult to start on the studs of the EGR. How did you do it? I'm going to try the 'leaf' trick on the socket, and pray.
outstanding video, thanks for making it
My Dogg! Great vid!
I have the exact same year and color of your Honda. Mine is idling rough and slow choking. I think it's time to clean that egr valve. Thanks for the info.
I'm about to do this and use some seafoam in the gas tank+marvel mystery oil in the intake(its good for intakes and cheaper than seafoam). You can buy those little jugs with a pump and a hose that people use to spray weeds in the garden and fill it with marvel mystery oil and spray the intake while it's running. hopefully it works for me.
Sea foam is okay. i run marvel in my gas tank and it works better i think then the sea foam.and yes you can use the sprayers and clean out your intake just don't run it down the intake hose like you would sea foam its hard on it that way but spraying it in on the throttle body is perfect
Hello,
my accord just failed smog for high HO and CO emissions. Do you think the EGR has anything to do with this?
the accord had trouble picking up speed from stop signs and red lights. I would have to really step on gas for it to really pick up speed.
I would recommend cleaning the EGR the throttle body run some sea foam in your intake check your spark plugs check your air filter replace your fuel filter and check your Catalytic converter there's a good chance it could be clogged up but I would start with every thing first and go down the line and see what Improves power for you and not passing inspection could be your Catalytic converter i but i would start with cleaning everything else up first
Good video man
93 Honda Accord ex 2.2 spark plugs gets very black after a short drive and check engine light comes on after start up in about 30 seconds
Very helpful Thank you for sharing
Thanks bro u got good vids 👍🏽
Wear rubber gloves when using strong petroleum cleaners. Just a tip. Your skin is a sponge and soaks up everything..
So I replaced my pcv valve recently on mines and now its doing this thing where it bogs and makes a pop noise when I try to accelerate. Any idea wht it could be??
Is it ok to use an air compressor to blow out the bottom piece of the EGR valve that is attached to the car?
My 93 EX is getting horrible gas mileage about 15mpg city. It has NGK spark plug wires and new air filter. I'm trying to figure out what is causing it to be so bad. I read it could be multiple things. What do you think would be my best option?
I would try cleaning your egr vale and your throttle body new fule filter and clean your intake start there if none of that helps. you could have a bad catalytic converter. You should run some marvel mystery oil in your gas and in your oil for a about 2 weeks I recommend using seafoam intake and throttle body cleaner as well what type of oil are you using and oil filter
@@CB7Media I got the oil changed at some random shop. Not sure on what they used. I think it needs a new cat for sure though.
I have rounded the back bolt. Im one who likes to do things myself but i got arrogant and thought i could do it with the tools i have but i ended uprounding the back bolt. Any advice? I was thinking of using those grip sockets.
Using something like a bolt extractor would be your best option you can also get 12 point sockets that sometimes will help take out rounded bolts and in some cases you can go down one size smaller and hammer it down on top of the bolt and it will help take out the bolt 🔩 I hope this helps
Will this allow my 91 integra to pass smog? I need an EGR for it to pass and i cant seem to find any to replace so if this works i’ll die happy lol
Hell yeah dude i was wanting to know this
Ill be hopefully posting more videos tomorrow or the next day my next video will be valve cover gasket and spark plug well gaskets
I have a 1990 Honda Accord lx and when it gets to 45 mph it cuts out big time and looses power. It won’t go over 50 mpg. It gave me code 43 and 12 and I tapped on the lift valve and changed the fuel filter and now it’s at code 43 only. The previous owner did the head gasket and timing belt. Do u have any suggestions? Maybe catalytic converter?
Code 43 is for the fuel system. if you have a way to check the fule pressure I would do that it sounds like the pump its getting week or your fule pump relay is going bad I don't believe the catalytic converter would be the problem in this situation unless you have a code for the 02 sensor but it sounds like you don't so I would not worry about it unless you want to upgrade your Exhaust if you have a code 41 then that would be your 02 sensor.
When u spray the break cleaner on to the openings of the EGR valve and scrape it with the wire do you leave the gunk in there or did u use something to get it out?
@@CB7Media you said to run a dose of seafoam through the intake ? Do i have to do this step.
I’ve got a 93 accord with 275.000 miles it does ghost reving at idle as well as over heating issues. I’ve started with thermostat and fan switch. Next bleed the coolant through, with heat on high, no blower motor. I’m new to the Honda’s, I only know Chevy 305’s and so on…
Check out the video I just uploaded yesterday on how to fix the idle control valve if that doesn't work look for vacuum leaks in the air control box
Any advice on flashing D gear fix? My 93 is stuck in D and won't pick up speed. Put in new shift solenoids (upper and lower) too. Thanks.
@@CB7Media The D light is on when the car starts, then I put it in D to drive from stopping is difficult, can't get up speed, usually I put it in 2 to get it moving, get up the speed from standing still, then put it in D then the car moves normal.
I just ordered the upper and lower shift solenoids, will see if they will help fix the problem. I want to get this car back running since the gas price is so outrageous with our 2001 toyota sequoia.
Thanks for responding.
I have a 93 accord when I drive to go from any gear to the next (manual) at about 3-4K rpm it stops and it acts like when u redline a car. Where tons bounce up down fast. What could cause that. You know?
It could be your egr is clogged up or a bad tps sensor sounds like a tps sensor to me
Was the car originally an automatic and then converted to manual? The automatic ecu does that when theres no transmission computer. U may need a manual ecu
@@tainted939 no it’s manual. But now if I turn it on and it doesn’t rev uno es 3k I turn it off and back on and it works fine again🤷🏽♂️
Any chance you can do a close up
I have a 93 honda accord and it failed smog, my dad gave me the car and idk anything about engines but im willing to learn, how do i pass emissions at the smog place. Any ideas what could be giving me trouble passing emissions
I would clean your EGR valve to start with. Then clean up your intake and throttle body. Then run something like sea foam in your gas tank I would put in the whole bottle and fill up with premium gas and that should do it if it doesn't Then you definitely need to replace the Catalytic converter hope this helps you out if you have other questions feel free to message me here or on my Facebook page CB7 media thanks
Just got myself a Honda Accord 92 it doesn’t start the guy I bought it from said it was the ignition coil I bought a new one still didn’t start it cranks tho also the starter don’t make a good noise but what do you thing
If your Honda doesn’t start the three main things are ignition coil or igniter (ignition control module). Both are under the distributor cap. Or the fuel pump relay located under the dash near your left knee. I carry all three as spares in my car.
Man. Be bold. Take the whole intake manifold off, disassemble it, clean it, put it back together. Pressure washer(carwash), super clean purple bottle @ walmart. I had nasty stuff come out of egr area. You can get gasket rebuild kit on amazon. My intake is spotless.
Thak you somust guy👍👍
I can't get it to disconnect from the wiring harness for the life of me please help
Hey maybe you can help me !
I have a 92 Honda Accord exr, I love the thing so I really don’t want to sell it. But it’s having acceleration problems and no one can figure out why, I even took it to a mechanic and he didn’t know. It does it the worst right after I fill up with gas. The mechanic told me my fuel filter and fuel pump is fine. Could it be the EGR valve?
It could be your maf senser or a cloged Injector or maybe fouled out plugs. I would start with cleaning your egr and throttle body very well then run some marvel mystery oil in your tank I would recommend putting in more then the recommend amount then put the highest octane fuel you can in it preferably ethanol free but not a must if that does not work let me know and I will try to give you more advice. Dose your car have the plugs on the on the intake that you can remove?
@@CB7Media first off thank you so much for replying. He also said my injectors were fine as well. I’ve used about three bottles of sea foam in the gas tank and when I do that the acceleration is way better but only temporarily, I’m gonna do what you said then get back to u , thanku .
@@CB7Media also got the flex pipe replaced yesterday, cleaned egr valve and still doing it. Also Spark plugs were replaced a little while ago
@@CB7Media so even tho it was still doing it after I got the flex pipe fixed I put some marvel mystery oil in it and it completely stopped doing it. Gonna keep adding it every time I get gas now. Does that mean it has a clogged tank or something?
You make this look so easy but it really is complicated
How the hell do u get to the back bolt what extension do I need is it just a skinnier extension
I used a very skinny side wall socket and extension to get it out. it can be a tricky one to get at times
Still not find it. I need help
Thanks

Omg! I thought he shot that guy!
1991 Honda Accord EX, 4 Dr Sedan, FWD, ... Idle surging, even aft chng IAC 2x..!
I have recently refurbished most parts in Engine area, @ Professional Mechanical Shop, included below:
However, aft changing these, Idle speed was surging, 1k-2K in Neutral, and surging forward at stop signs in Drive, (so had to put in Neutral at Traffic lights, annoying ..).. then changed IAC twice, AND 3 mechanics can't figure out what is wrong even after adj idle via distributor,... they have cleaned IAC also,..
Disabling IAC w Solenoid has bypassed this problem,,, I have videos, of idle speed with IAC plugged in (Surging ), and w/o plugging it in (no Surging,..),...
The following were changed bef I had this problem
Spark Plugs, Wires,
Alternator, Starter, Belts,...
Fuel Tank, Fuel Pump, some Fuel & oil Lines,..
Radiator, Condenser, Hoses, Rad Cap,..
Timing Belt & Water Pump, Tensioners
Oil Pan & Gasket,
Car was parked for few yrs during Covid, but before that, the Car used to drive really well, high speed was smooth, 100-120-140++ kph easy,.. smooth, quiet, normal Idle,... altho Fuel Tank & Rad had started to leak, rusting, so had bought another car, and parked this one,..
Three (3) diff experienced Mechanics have played with IAC, and have changed both IAC valves (one w Solenoid was changed 2x!), and Fast idle Control Valve, but no luck.
Currently, and even before these repairs, with IAC UNPLUGGED, car feels it has enough power, and has v good acceleration for a 23 yr old car, No sputtering ! (==> so NO vacuum leak?) & (NO defective Airflow sensor?),...
I have seen videos of surging problems on UA-cam,.. and if anyone has any more suggestions,..
Thnx

My 94 accord dont have egr.. seem weird. Cant find it. Some accord may dont have??
Delete the EGR it's garbage anyway 🤣
Great. I just failed the stupid California smog test. The technician said, "It's very likely the EGR valve needs cleaning. Your video was very helpful. Thanks. [June 16, 2023]
