  • ► King Henry VIII's Painter, Hans Holbein The Younger, Brought To Life (AI) plus paintings gallery
► Hello everyone and welcome back to Mystery Scoop.
Hans Holbein the Younger (c. 1497 - between 7 October and 29 November 1543, aged 45 or 46) was a German artist who is regarded as one of the greatest portrait painters of the 16th century. By 1535, he was the King's Painter to Henry VIII of England.
He is called "the Younger" to distinguish him from his father Hans Holbein the Elder, an accomplished Late Gothic painter.
Holbein spent two periods of his life in England. With a referral from Erasmus, a Dutch humanist scholar, he travelled to England in the quest for work in 1526, and was accepted into Thomas More's humanist circle, where he immediately established a high reputation. He spent two years in England at this time.
Holbein resumed his career in England in 1532 under the patronage of Anne Boleyn, 2nd wife of Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell. He remained in England until his death in 1543 and during this time he completed many of his famous works portraying nobility of the Tudor court. Interestingly, there is no finished painting of Anne Boleyn that is attributed to Holbein, except from two possible sketches. All of Anne's portrait paintings are thought to have been destroyed after her beheading.
We've put together a collection of paintings by Hans Holbein for today's video, which includes some of his most notable works. But, before we go any further, let's see if we can revive his self-portraits using modern AI techniques.
I hope you enjoy the gallery with Hans Holbein's paintings!

Holbein was a truly gifted artist. I would really like to know what King Henry VIII really looked like…you know Harry wouldn’t like a portrait of how he really looked! I am sure Holbein and other artists didn’t dare paint him as he really was. Thank you for the work you do in bringing us these historical figures.

6:45 Two famous paintings of Henry VIII aimed at presenting an impression of health and virility at a time he was bedridden with terrible leg sores his physicians had no idea how to treat... Medieval Propaganda at its very best...and the work of this equally famous painter, at the top of his profession...Great work, as is this presentation, on this most interesting of subjects.

@@alexanderkarayannis6425 You can, of course, call it what you please, but scholars of British history and English literature call 1537 'early modern'.

Good video! Is there a self- portrait of Holbein with shoulder length hair & a fuller beard? Is it possible to do a similar treatment of his drawings such as "praying hands?" Good job & thanks, Holbein is one of my favorites...I believe he really recorded the essence of his subjects...an artistic as well as a historical record...

After reading my comment, I realized that the portrait I was thinking of is the self-portrait of Holbein the Elder..."Praying hands" is by Durer, whose body of work might be of interest to you to weave your "magic" upon...thanks & subbed...

Venus is almost identical to Lais of Corinth. Holbein was looking to cut costs by reusing the dress and removing the sleeves. The background cloth is also the same. Good move. The clients probably did not see the two paintings side by side.

the ambassadors 5:08 is a real special painting. The obscure object in the middle, on the floor is an anamorphic contorted skull. It can only be correctly seen from a specific angle (from which you usually wouldn't look at a painting).

The portrait of Anne of Cleves, I believe, was the one that , when, shown to Henry, convinced him to marry her. But when he met her in person, he was not impressed. Holbein made her look more attractive than she actually WAS. Lucky the painting still exists and that Henry didn't smash it to pieces.

If we can bring drawings, paintings and bust of ancient romans and old english royalty back to life.
Then can you bring back some drawings, paintings and bust of true American heroes and maybe even some bad guys? Like Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Buffalo Bill, Jesse James, Kit Carson, Jim Bowie, Billy The Kid, U.S. Grant, Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, Gen. Sherman etc.. The list of Americans go on and on! Just Saying??
