I love how every OP fan/commentator needs to slag off LN to get their point across. It seems that the other way around, people at least acknowledge that OP is very good. Personally I am a fan of both and love that MCL is back at the front, but hate the way everyone tries to create drive to survive levels of drama between the two 😂
Oscar did A levels in math. He can count the points. So he's realistic. As for Lando: He should have let Oscar through right away in Hungary and then passed him. He had the tires, and could have avoided all the drama. Ignoring team orders to take away Oscar's win, when the only reason Lando was ahead was because of a pit strategy? Not exactly a championship look.
McLaren fan firstly here and i like Lando, im an oscar fan (as a brit) and i will tell you firstly anyone attacking Oscar for Monza are barking up the wrong tree. Its mcLarens fault! They didnt make things clear, Thats on them.
The McLaren rear wing (which was totally legal before the FIA issued their clarification this week) allowed them to run a higher downforce setup than the rest of the grid because the mini-drs mitigated the drag. That allowed Piastri to pull away from Leclerc in the middle sector and hold him back at the end of the straight
I'm always surprised it's not way more 😮 he provides measured analysis and has been the most accurate when other channels who shall not be named have a driver being fired every weekend and except for Sargent has not been right once 😂
You do sounds like a huge Oscar homer tbh….the only reason he has scored more points than Lando is cause Max took Lando out that one race. There is no evidence that Oscar will be better than Lando in 2025
17 is about the gap that I have between Max and landonat the end of the season. I have Max at 389 and Lando at 376. Although that could change because the red bull looked shockingly slow in practise 2 today.
who knows how they can develop until qualifying... at least last year, everytime they werent exactly the fastest in practice, they still somehow got p1 by quite a bit we didnt see that as much this year, but with red bull you never know until quali
I'm fully expecting Max to not be at the front again this weekend, his track record at Singapore is horrible. But would be surprising if he'd start in the top 5!
I get that Oscar is your favorite driver but I feel like you're criticizing Lando way too much. Like saying Lando is being a showman and that he isn't ruthless enough and bla bla bla, i´m tired of these kind of comments, it's getting boring and ridiculous
Or the endless comparisons between Oscar and some Legends of the sport simply because he's not that talkative in general. Like what does that have to do with driving. Also Piastri fans just like this channel in general have been criticizing Lando since last year, yet Oscar is behind him in every metric.
I disagree with you about Oscar not wanting to be a brand. This year you could easily see how he gradually changed his social media approach and this will continue from now on. He's extremely calculated and I'm actually not surprised that people are falling for this whole thing. He is a good driver and he is smart, but I can totally see him throwing his grandmother under the bus if he can benefit from it.
I think that max will make the most of mexico, which will get him the title. If lando gains more than 8 points on max in mexico, lando will probably win it
assuming next year redbull arnt the dominate car again the championship will be very interesting bc mclaren have 2 drivers somewhat close to each other every week while when redbull had the best car they had 1 drive miles ahead of the other
I'm thinking/hoping that he has no intention of helping Lando... him winning the championship is literally the worst thing that can happen to Oscar. I think he's gonna start dropping Verstappen some points when he's able to make sure he's not the teammate of a world champion next year. Maybe he already has... I find it hard to believe that he couldn't have fought Max in Singapore. We need to see the ruthlessness taken to 11. He needs to take advantage and destroy Lando's psyche. Just break him entirely. He's already a rambling jibbering wreck - Oscar is the one talking like a competitor and a champion in press conferences, talking about "damage limitation" when he can't beat Lando just says "you can try to run, sunshine, but you're mine, and you're gonna like it". I doubt Webber is gonna let his guy give up on beating the nepobaby without a fight.
Haven't people been saying the same thing about Ricciardo? He'll be here for a long time running in the front... How did that turn out after he left Red Bull?
Daniel Ricciardo was good. Oscar is a much better driver. People shouldn’t underestimate him. He’s been a race winner and champion in every category he’s ever been in. It’s only a matter of time until he’s consistently challenging for titles each year. He knows how to be a champion as he’s done it many times before.
If Lando is the QB and Piastri is the receiver, Lando tends to fumble more than Oscar makes a great catch. If that happened n football, it wouldn’t be good for the QB. Same goes for these two.
It is not necessarily good being 4th as a sophomore, if your teammate is 1st , ppl will not really rate you, age was not a excuse for alonso, ham and vers
I'm curious to see how Doohan does. He might not have the greatest CV, but Alpine have done lots of testing, and Colapinto doesn't have a great CV either. If genetics are anything to go by, lookout Gasly
Oscar preaching on this channel is wild. In both wins Lando held his Papaya Bargain and if Leclerc would have shown little common sense in Baku he would have been winner their as well. Oscar is good driver so is Lando but Lando has done more for him than other way round.
Yeah its kind of insane at the start of the season law wasnt that bad but as soon as oscar got his first win he firmly shoved his nose up Oscar ass and is yet to take it out
Lando also only has 2 wins, one due to a safety car mistake and one actually on merit. Claiming Lando helped Piastri at Baku is crazy, of course he'd help Piastri there, he was out in Q1, it's his job to help the lead driver fight for the win in that situation. Obviously if Lando didn't bottle qualifying and was up at the front, the team wouldn't ask him to pull a strategy to delay Perez. Lando also always gets priority on pitstops, regardless of position when both drivers are in similar positions. Said undercut got Lando the lead in Hungary, and then he got a 6 lap undercut on Piastri in Monza and still bottled P2 to him despite that. The team consistently favours Lando, and he isn't outscoring Piastri lately to justify it.
This is a bit of a ridiculous take. The team should never have issued a team order to let Oscar through so Lando shouldn’t have even been put in the position in Hungary. They do, he follows it and then gets criticized for doing so. Monza, Oscar has nothing to lose and Lando does. You don’t think if all things were equal, Lando wouldn’t have pushed him wide? Think about it, they crash because Lando does that and everyone is then questioning Lando, not Oscar, for not understanding the situation. I personally like both drivers but saying one is better than the other when they are in two completely different situations in the season is silly. Lando has everything to lose and Oscar doesn’t, it’s as simple as that. No need to make more of it than it is.
In Hungary Oscar got a clean pass and was faster in the first stint. Oscar was faster in the second stint. Even with a 4 second error he was 2 seconds in front. The decision to pit Lando first repeatedly eventually gave Lando the unintended undercut. This track is hard to make a pass. It was called Monaco without walls by some commentators. In this situation track position is the most important thing - more important than pace. After the undercut gave Lando the unearned lead the immediate instructions were to give back track position to the driver who had earned it. Lando ignored that order for 20 laps. Meanwhile Oscar after being told “Bring the tyres in. Bring the tyres in. Don’t worry about Lando.” Followed instructions and didn’t push. So in the one stint when Lando was faster, he had unearned clean air and he was pushing when Oscar wasn’t. Besides, Baku shows you whether Lando could have ever got the lead on his own merit against Oscar - No chance.
@@andrewhazlewood4569 I'm not sure how Baku showed you anything other than a great recovery drive on a track that is hard to pass on. Lando was out of position due to a flag error which knocked himi out in Q1 and he recovered to 4th but that has nothing to do with Oscar. Oscar had a good quali, made a great move on Charles and won. Again though, that has nothing to do with Lando. Look at all the races this season, Lando has an average finishing position of 4.29 and Oscar is 4.64 hence why he has a points lead. Oscar is also helped a lot in those numbers since if you remove the Austrian GP when Lando was taken out by Max causing him to finish 20th, that gap would widened to 3.31 vs. 4.81. Even if you throw out Oscars worst finish on the year, its still 3.46 vs. 4.26. There is no case you can make that Oscar has been better than Lando on balance this year given Lando is ahead on points, ahead in quali and ahead on average finishing position. End of the day, both are young, both have driven well over all, but Lando holds a slight advantage on the season. You can't look at 7 of 17 rounds during the same season, exclude the rest and declare Oscar the winner, it's just silly.
Obviously you've read my posts elsewhere. I've had a racing license for 30+ years. Oscar has made his point and a massive point it is- he is a talent to be reckoned with. But the rest of 2024 is McLando until the points say Lando can't. However 2025 is fair game. And EVERY team is preparing an offer for him for 2026- and don't give me any crap about contracts as Checo knows The calmness levels of Oscar and Norris, well, there's no comparison. Oscar makes Lauda look like a hothead
A license doesn't mean anything... especially one like that, that you don't really have to do much to get there are even many intellectuals out there that studied and got phd's and what not, but are doing and/or saying some absolutely wild stuff, like believing in conspiracy theories and stuff like that
Does it really matter, now that McLaren had to remove the "cheat wing"? 🤣 As for their drivers' statements... F1 teams employ an "army of communication officers", for good good reason. Whatever they say has to be approved by their Chief Communication Officer . Heck, they're not even allowed into the media pen without a "PR nanny" by their side, holding a smartphone with "cheat sheets" in their face.
Nice analysis there Law, but remember when kimi was 17 points behind in 2007 with only two races left (and only a maximum of 20 points available in those 2 races), I’m just saying, don’t be ruling out Pastry just yet ;-)
@@LawVS I know it will sound stupid now, but I made the comment out of saltiness mostly, without watching the video, which is stupid by itself, so I will judge the video again, sorry
Imo Lando wouldn't have beaten Charles if he qualified on the front row in Baku. I don't expect Oscar to change anything and think he will go out to win. One dnf for lando and a race win to oscar and they are almost on identical points. Norris helping oscar last week is overblown, he got in checo's way for a couple of turns. If mclaren had pitted oscar a lap earlier as they should have there was no need for lando helping out. In time oscar will pitt himself instead of relying on mclaren who clearly are poor at pitt strategy. Listen to Zak Browns interview today on sky f1, he basically said to let them race as long as they are respectful. He said that there won't be races where oscar gives up the win if he's earned it.
I think your underestimating Lando. He's gone toe to toe with Verstappen, something Oscar has not yet done. Moreover, Lando's strength is that he doesn't go all out, and instead makes smarter decisions. I don't think Lando would've divebombed Charles like Oscar did, but there's a good chance he would've keep his mediums better than Oscar did. He would most likely have waited for Charles's tyres to wear off and overtaken before the first round of pits.
My thoughts on Lando helping out Oscar is... obviously? He went out in Q1, he's not winning the race. The best thing he can do for the team is help Oscar, and he didn't even sacrifice much to do that. McLaren obviously wouldn't have had Lando do that if he didn't bottle it and was actually in Q3.
and piastri should have been there to pick up the pieces when verstappen did crash or norris was having a mare of a weekend. remember austria? when lando and verstappen were so far ahead and at the end, piastri couldn't even close the gap to a much slower mercedes? or when he overblew his pit marks at spa which cost him another victory if you look at how close the finish was? these pair of drivers at mclaren have been underperforming to an incredible extent. lewis hamilton contended for the championship in his debut season yet you have piastri who already had a full season under his belt, still leaving points on the table, same for norris. it's unacceptable quite frankly and if it were verstappen in that mclaren or alonso, or hamilton, it would have been a repeat of 2023 except with mclaren on top.
To be fair about the Baku pass, Oscar did give himself 50/50 odds on it working, so it wasn’t exactly a foregone conclusion that the pass would have worked every time
Oscar underplays everything like a typical Aussie. it was a 100% chance that it was going to stick. One of the best overtakers on the grid is the driver for #81.
2 wins and Max 11th or DNF's twice, is 50 points Norris and Max 0. 6 races and sprints left, and fastest lap all bonuses. Not that hard, to catch up if McLaren can pull their heads outta of their asses.
@@agraiell5048 so true, what place of employment can't you even question a decision by management. Bosses at McLaren are drunk on po, they don't want to hear anything but them selfs. Sad
I stopped listening after the hypothetical scenario of Norris winning seven races in a row was shared with zero sarcasm. Norris has won two races in his entire career... He has never won back-to-back races. Even worse, Lewis Hamilton has never won seven in a row, Schumacher only achieved it once, and every one who has achieved more than seven was driving a Red Bull with a big red "1" on it.
Tbh that's what he should have been doing in the 1st place. Barrichello used to back off for Schumacher at Ferrari because he was the new boy there. It's all about respect and sportsmanship which Oscar needs to work on. Time and time again Lando has supported Oscar this season. Oscar will get his chance, just let Lando have his day - he has earned this.

Yes, Baku was probably his best race since he join f1, i'm not saying that he is a bad driver, i'm just complaining about McLaren as a all, it's just like they never learn with his own mistakes, its not a good ideia having two number one drivers
Yeah he helped him by not coming in second like he should have.
Blame George and a mistake in Q3. Also the team told both drivers to bring it home.
Jack has shown he is ruthless as well. He defied team orders when he was in F3.
That allowed Piastri to pull away from Leclerc in the middle sector and hold him back at the end of the straight
and? if we ban anyone that innovates to make their car faster we'd never have F1
what the hell you're at 80k now

I'm always surprised it's not way more 😮 he provides measured analysis and has been the most accurate when other channels who shall not be named have a driver being fired every weekend and except for Sargent has not been right once 😂
I'm with you about.... Oscar Piastri
i love the part when oscar piastri said "its oscar time" and oscared all over the marina bay circuit
You do sounds like a huge Oscar homer tbh….the only reason he has scored more points than Lando is cause Max took Lando out that one race. There is no evidence that Oscar will be better than Lando in 2025
If we say that for Austria, can we apply the same logic to Miami and China?
China? Where Oscar was more than a second slower than Lando before the collision
Hello from Texas!
"Papaya rules" just seem to be:
1) Fight fair, not dirty
2) Help each other out when it doesn't negatively affect your own race
That's it.
17 is about the gap that I have between Max and landonat the end of the season.
I have Max at 389 and Lando at 376. Although that could change because the red bull looked shockingly slow in practise 2 today.
who knows how they can develop until qualifying... at least last year, everytime they werent exactly the fastest in practice, they still somehow got p1 by quite a bit
we didnt see that as much this year, but with red bull you never know until quali
I'm fully expecting Max to not be at the front again this weekend, his track record at Singapore is horrible. But would be surprising if he'd start in the top 5!
42 seconds since upload and no views, bro fell off😭🥲 hahaha keep it up Law!!!
Nah chief, look at Lando and Sainz. The McLaren was DEFINITELY the faster car in Baku.
Team Oscar here. It's a Great informative video. Congrats on the 80k subs
Maybe he was terrible today to help Norris? What a day for Oscar.
He is a good driver and he is smart, but I can totally see him throwing his grandmother under the bus if he can benefit from it.
with this many Australian drivers, we would need a race at the Bend
Bathurst mate
@@matiusclicarelli700came here to say the same thing, it would always be Bathurst 👍
I think that max will make the most of mexico, which will get him the title. If lando gains more than 8 points on max in mexico, lando will probably win it
assuming next year redbull arnt the dominate car again the championship will be very interesting
bc mclaren have 2 drivers somewhat close to each other every week
while when redbull had the best car they had 1 drive miles ahead of the other
I'm thinking/hoping that he has no intention of helping Lando... him winning the championship is literally the worst thing that can happen to Oscar.
Do u keep body’s in that attic
It is not necessarily good being 4th as a sophomore, if your teammate is 1st , ppl will not really rate you, age was not a excuse for alonso, ham and vers
Aheum
Vettel .. multi 21... of course if Lando did that Oscar's manager would have been livid and we'd be seeing something horrible now
I'm curious to see how Doohan does. He might not have the greatest CV, but Alpine have done lots of testing, and Colapinto doesn't have a great CV either. If genetics are anything to go by, lookout Gasly
His CV include a car having a cracked chassis. When discovered and repaired he went on to win three F2 races.
@mikespearwood3914 thanks for the info. Briatore obviously saw something & if anyone knows race drivers it's Flavio
“Will help “
Toto has it printed out
I bet one or both Mercedes will have significant plank wear with a DNQ potentially.
Oscar's fux.. hard. No quip about it
Oscar just win and the rest will sort it self out.
I’ll bet you a hundred bucks Max signs with Aston Martin or Mercedes next year.
i dont think concluding checo is ganne be faster then max based on one race is valid
Bro likes watching fixed races. How lame are you for that.
That was more a hissy fit from Buxton.....
His name is Oscar PASTRY get it right
Let’s go
Obviously you've read my posts elsewhere. I've had a racing license for 30+ years. Oscar has made his point and a massive point it is- he is a talent to be reckoned with. But the rest of 2024 is McLando until the points say Lando can't. However 2025 is fair game. And EVERY team is preparing an offer for him for 2026- and don't give me any crap about contracts as Checo knows
The calmness levels of Oscar and Norris, well, there's no comparison. Oscar makes Lauda look like a hothead

Does it really matter, now that McLaren had to remove the "cheat wing"? 🤣
As for their drivers' statements... F1 teams employ an "army of communication officers", for good good reason. Whatever they say has to be approved by their Chief Communication Officer . Heck, they're not even allowed into the media pen without a "PR nanny" by their side, holding a smartphone with "cheat sheets" in their face.

Oscar piastri is with the elite 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

To be fair about the Baku pass, Oscar did give himself 50/50 odds on it working, so it wasn’t exactly a foregone conclusion that the pass would have worked every time
Oscar is humble.
