This bought back a memory as a kid when we were bashing thru the snow in dads 76 Patrol and in the middle of nowhere in heavy snow were a bunch of hippies in a Kingswood wagon bogged to the chassis. They were trying to carry their car unsuccessfully so we towed them for miles. We they were all buggered and freezing and had no idea where they were. We used to stay in the bush huts and leave heaps of canned food wherever we stayed. Great fun! Great memories!

As Canadian from Alberta I can say you are wheeling like we do 7 months of the year lol. Well done gents. But V bar chains are our goto for traction in the crap
@Canuck Fobroader yeah a decent set of tires would make all the difference here , its wild that theyre on what id consider all terrains wheeling in snow and mud, never mind the rigs themselves being relatively stock compared to what we build here in the states. Ive even seen overlanders more capable than hlaf the rigs
I always love Aussie snow ride. the excitement you guys give away is too much. as a canadian I'm used to it so wheeling in snow isn't special for me. but you guys really makes my day! the fun you have makes me wanna go wheel with you like I never wheeled in snow! awesome video
A nice addition to these videos would be, that if any vehicle has an issue that stops them completing the trip, let us all know what that problem was found to be, and the end of the video. I'm sure many people would be interested, for future reference.
Common problem for the zd30CRD is the fuel pressure releif valve, they get tired over the years and dont let the common rail pressurise up. easy fix, ill bet its that.
That, or a injector leak. Mine had the same issue. Would not start, and died when pushing hard. Turned out to be a leaky injector, so the ZD30CRD could not get enough rail pressure to start. Needs 5000 psi to start. Would run an injector leakback test.
It's crazy to me to think that Australia gets more snow than we do in Southern Louisiana! When I think of Aus its usually hot weather, amazing beaches and crocs lurking that I think of and completely forget about mountains and high country! Spectacular

@@markrovers9360 it depends. Chains dig. If it's super deep and soft you don't want chains or narrow tires. If it's not super deep and there's a solid base to grip to, then ya narrow tires or chains. Again a very good video, I'm always happy about offroad action in the snow. On our tours through the snow we usually mount chains on the first vehicle to prepare the way for the smaller vehicles. And with snow chains its also fun. Greetings from Austria
Great video boys! I live deep In the high country and urge you to look into some eildon 4wding tracks, can’t go wrong camping next to the lake, I do it all the time and it never gets old
Tip on chains when/if you get some Let air out of your tires, put the chains on tight, then pump them back up. Chains won't budge and the tires change shape super good for snow traction. Used to get a few feet a year where I lived, our stock jeep Cherokee was unstoppable in it. Extra bonus is doing chains with studded tires.
When running in really deep snow you let off the throttle and hit the brake when you’re slowed to like 2 or 3 miles per hour , If you keep spinning when your stopped you will feel the vehicle settle and now you cannot back up. I’ve driven in very deep fluffy powder so deep it fills the engine compartment right full and you have to clean it out so cooling air can flow through. You try to open your door you have to push the snow with the door. Snow traction can even change in a few hours. I snow wheeled and snowmobiled for over 40 years and there is nothing quite like it! Have fun boys!
Hey fellas great video! Just a heads up. Here in the states where we wheel a lot in the snow. You need to air down more. 18 psi is actually a little high. If you are running beadlocks go down to single digits. 10-12 for non beadlock.

Yeah we get to experience it 6 months of the year...and in Alberta, it could happen in any month
