I love your channel. I have learned so much. Now I put my backing on and don’t center it! It’s su much faster. You can easily eyeball the top pretty accurately.
I find using a side light & turning off the machine lights , is so much easier on my eyes for this kind of work. It gives the right kind of shadows to show the texture of the quilting. I just move the light along slightly as I travel.

I do...although that is a recent skill for me. My favorite quilting is freehand, and edge-to-edge - the same design quilted over the entire quilt top. I love that there are multiple ways to quilt, and a quilter can choose the way they love best to do it.
I have a HQ Infinity. Haven’t used the longarm in a while but I recall being told that longarms aren’t meant to be stitching going from right to left, in other words they are supposed to go from left to right. Of course for small distances it doesn’t matter but for the entire width of the quilt, it is best to go from left to right. Anyone else ever hear that?
It’s certainly true that a fair number of longarm quilters say they have trouble going right to left, but it’s not “normal”. I’ve had several machines which handle every direction just fine, so I’ll continue troubleshooting until I can achieve that👍🏻

“Waves” might be a good design. Suits a masculine quilt and plays on the name. I’ve done them in a couple of UA-cam episodes, and you can play around with spacing and depth to change up the look.

I completely agree with the side light. It's my go-to also, for the most difficult to see quilts. It just doesn't work at all on camera 😄
I managed to brake my wrist so all my quilting is vicariously for a while! Love your channel!

I did, and it was a super easy fix - just needed a little lube on the needle bar and a tech walked me through it. Success!

Do you use different places to have even wear on your leaders ?
I don’t, and I’ve never yet worn out a leader. I do use the Red Snappers to load, and binding use a lot of tension, so maybe that’s the key.
QQ is there such a thing as over oiling it
I think yes. Only so much is useful, the rest will drip off and make a mess. In my BERNINA's case, one drop frequently is perfect.
