Neat trick with the heat on the screwdriver and great work around for filter replacement. Yet another example of form over function on the part of vehicle manufacturers, a kick up the arse is in order.
Great tip Dave, certainly given me cause for thought about some other cars that might be possible this way. One of the worst I’ve come accross is the Ford Focus and Volvo V40 .Thanks .
my dad had a focus. I remember him going in for the free oil change and he wanted the cabin filter changed. The counter guy was like, uh... computer says its a 6hr job, let me check on that. Later the service manager comes out and says, they have literally never changed one. They asked to keep the car over the weekend to teach the crew how to change one out because its such a crazy procedure.
Whatever happened to open the glovebox, slide in the new filter? Doesn’t matter…Punters need to deal with it. Good demo David. I like the wee hot screwdriver tip on the buggerized plastic fasteners 👍
Excellent shortcut Dave & a fantastic tip with those stupid plastic screws to heat the screw driver. I definitely got something from this one 🙂 Cheers Dave 👍
Brilliant Dave - Great fasttrack way of doing it - How mental is it that a serviceable item like that is made so difficult to replace - I bet thats a £200 job alone at Jaguar
Another great video Dave , super tip , obviously was designed by a button presser as most crap jobs are these days , jaguar may look at this and say why don't we do this 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍cheers Dave
Yeah, it’s poor on the engineering part, to make it so difficult to take in and out, I’m personally still following the original instructions, as in taking the glove box out… I do spend 90 minutes on it easily, and do it like once a year, or every 5~10k, we live in a desert and it’s very dusty here. I don’t use the original air filter, I like the Purolator Boss that filters outs mold and bacteria etc… for all the rest, I use religiously original Jaguar parts. Wish the diesel filter was cheaper though… Also, I’m changing my oil and filter very often…I’m panicking about the stretching timing chain issue, so I drive like a baby and LOF at least every 5k. I hope to have this car for a long time!
Probably part of the reason pollen filters are original when you buy a car second hand. Removing the centre console trim is a nonsense Dave - what we’re Jaguar Land Rover thinking? Incidentally the sensor is probably air quality sensor.
Someone did it this way on my XE. Didn’t put the scuttle panel back on correctly and caused a massive leak in my passenger side that i never noticed cause it’s only me that drives the car. Floor rusted and the carpet was ruined. It’s a terrible design and this way absolutely will cause leaks.
This is the quick method compared to the alternative inside the car as shown. A piece of plastic lifted up is hardly disassembly of engine compartment. What are you thinking when you made this comment?

Thank you very much my friend. I change filter today on my S supercharged with your video. Perfect!
Does the windshield seal still works after this? Or does the water leak inside the motor, electronics...
Managed this yesterday. If you fully remove the foam padding the new filter simply slips in.
Great Hack. Thanks very much
This was very very helpful, it worked just like you said. Well explained, thank you for your help. No more piss smell in my cabin.
Just had one in my shop. Thanks for the video especially the cabin filter part. What a good cheat code 👌

Oh that was excellent shortcut! I am going to do the same thing soon! :) Thank you!

Cheers Ian, that's these modern cars for ye. Easy job made hard
@davesterl no that's the stupid British car for you, sir. All other cars this job is still 30 seconds.
Excellent shortcut Dave & a fantastic tip with those stupid plastic screws to heat the screw driver. I definitely got something from this one 🙂
Cheers Dave 👍
good to hear Peter
Very clearly explained. Thank you.
Well done Dave very good 👏👍

Hmmm might try this on my next one. The factory way is an absolute pain.
5 minute job Simon
Good tip. Cheers
No problem 👍
Will the seal on the windshield still work after this?
Thanks... for brasil 👍🤝

What a faff for a pollen filter - bet some main dealers skip it and you’d never know
You don't have to roll it up if you just bend the metal that's in the way and the whole piece will slide right in..easy
Wise up
Wow

easier to put in if you just pull the foam out above it just learnt it 😂
Whatever smarthole. As shown, no need to pull the foam out

Scuttle panels are not a seal
The accent!
Just done this method it's the bollox
Ps great video
Not so easy not so quicker. I think it approximately the same shit passing through glove box or the bay.
Nonsense
Lot of work just to change a filter!
It's stupid things like a filter change ruin cars l8ke this , as 90 % of owners won't bother
凸( •̀_•́ )凸 this is for the guy who built that car
All that for a cabin filter
Dave what a 💩💩 design for a service item ? Who ever designed that wants the sack !
Lol Peter
* quick method
* proceeds to disassemble engine compartment
What were the Jaguar designers thinking!?

@@davesterl It's weird. On the Internet, there is this thing known as "humour". This was a joke. I "memed" there. Ha ha. You can laugh.
@@elli0122 So funny i forgot to laugh. We, in the real world, call it talking shite.
