18:09 same mate, like Mike is my favourite in ST and I hate what they did with his character development. Like, he's not here only as a support tool for El when she feels weak. He's got so much potential and I really REALLY hope they're gonna explore it more in the final season.
Also, I really love Mileven, but totally in a friendship way. For me, they are so much better as just friends, and the whole relationship in 3 and 4 seasons seems forced and uncomfortable. At first, it was cute, but they are just too unfitted for each other. Plus, I don't think that El (or Mike for that matter) is ready to be in a healthy relationship. I wish they fix it, too, in the next season
Agreed. Mike needs a serious arc that doesn't revolve around El and El needs an arc that isn't 'fixed' by Mike. They're friends and they were each other's first loves but that doesn't mean that they're each other's last or only loves, and that's okay. In fairness I also ship them both with other people but honestly it's more important to me that they realize that they aren't healthy together than anything else.

I had no idea that some people disliked El and Mike together until I started watching compilations like these. I literally never saw an episode until a week ago and after binge watching all 4 seasons, I was actually happy about Mike's speech. I guess I'm in the minority camp but I would be extremely sad to see them split up in the final season, considering all they went through to be together.

I honestly feel like Mike’s character has been whittled down to “the love interest” and nothing more. I just got done watching all of Stranger Things for the first time the other night (so basically watched all the seasons back-to-back) and Mike had such a significant role in season 1 and now it feels like they took away a lot of his character. He and his friends were seen as incredibly smart in season 1, if not clueless sometimes, but still smart, and Mike was kind of put into the leader role of the group. Now it doesn’t feel like he has much of a character, at least that of his original character, and he also feels out of character all at once. Idk if my comment makes sense but that’s just how I feel about Mike. I don’t think he deserves death or anything like some other have said, but I do think he deserves some character development. And idk maybe I might not be remembering season 1 Mike correctly either, but it does feel like Mike and even Lucas sometimes, have been dumbed down. They were both very clever in season one, and Lucas’ character thankfully has bounced back but Mike really has not.

Ngl, vol 4 felt like an ad for vol 5 and was deeply unsatisfactory to me. We got Eddie, lost him. Didn't defeat vecna, didn't resolve any love triangles, other than bringing everyone together back in Hawkins it doesn't feel like the story moved forward so much as shuffled itself and made me really sad.

The one thing I will say about Mike because he's my favorite type of hero character, is that he is a similar hero to Captain America or a Paddington. I say that because he is a inherently good character that does the right thing and his arc should be more how does him being a good and caring person change the people or world around him for the better. I say it because he is inherently a loving caring and good character who has no real gift or thing to set him apart like Els powers or Dustin's brains or Wills connection to the upside down/vecna but still when shit his the fan he always jumps in to help knowing he can't win or do it all but will try to do it or lead the way to do it.
