The Monstercat Best of 2016 compilation is a special time for us. It provides a snapshot of all of our accomplishments in the past year, both our successes and our struggles. Most importantly, it is a representation of who we are, the community, artists, and staff that make up this great family that we call Monstercat.
This year has seen a departure from our focus on genre classification. Often times these titles become the focus of discussion surrounding a release, and can sometimes overshadow the inspiration behind the song. We believe that in order for the entire community to continue to grow, we must set aside labels, and focus on the individuality of each artist. With that being said, in addition to our Best of 2016 album, we are also launching the final Best of Genre compilations to mark the end of a much loved Monstercat tradition.

Dubstone Records "Queen of Your Heart" was one of the best 2016 releases.
LazarJ Totally agree. Plus, i'm so fuckin' frustrated to see both Emptiness AND Panic on the Best of Dubstep but NOT masterpieces like Hummingbird, Drop That Child, Moonlight or anything from Varien's EP or TTC's LP.

His best track honestly, it combines darker basses with lighter synths to bring you what is known as the best synthwave track of this damn channel.
This is definitely the best mix since the beginning of the compilations. I wasn't ready to see Tristam, Topi, Loosid, Grabbitz, Draper, Fijiwiji, Anevo, Haywyre and some other here. So much gods are in this mix

TCMine Some of the tracks were way older. Some were from 2014. There were some on here too
This Playlist is just perfect. The only thing missing here is Karma Fields.
If you look in the Best Of House Mix, it has a Karma Fields track in there.

That's a pretty solid tracklist. Far better than the best of Trap tracklist, but it's on par with the best of FB and House tracklists.
I like the House mix tbh and the FB could be worse.
