this may be a really stupid question and im pretty sure i already know the answer, im just checking to make sure lol...the yz450s don't have separate reservoirs for engine oil and trans/gear oil do they? I've been told they dont but I have a leak from my countershaft seal that I will be replacing soon and the oil was really thick kinda looked like gear oil
The YZ uses a shared sump, meaning the engine oil and transmission are in fact one in the same. When you drain the engine oil you're also draining the transmission oil, they are not separate on this bike.
Hello I got a question please, my bike shows oil level only if the bike is warm, if the bike is cold the glass of oil level is empty, is that okay? Or does it mean I should add more oil ? Thank you
When your bike is level and at not running, you should be able to see your oil level. So yes, your oil could be low. I would suggest draining out your old oil and putting new oil in and the amount you service manual calls for.
Has anyone ever had a problem with having gas in the oil I’ve been looking but can’t find anyone with the problem on a Yamaha and I need to know what to do. Please respond if you have any advice.
I struggle to get my torque wrench in the area with the drain bolt underneath. What torque wrench set are you using? I’m stuck with just having to hand tighten it.
After changing the oil on my 2018 YZ450FX, the oil window looked good. I started the bike, and checked the pressure nut also. While it was running I looked at the oil window again, and noticed it there was almost nothing showing in the window. Is that normal since it showed full of oil while the bike is off? Thanks for your help.
Yes the oil is supposed to be sucked up by the oil system and that should indicate that your oil pressure is operating. Concerns would be if the oil didn't disappear when the bike started!
My bike is a 19. And it says the same thing as in this video in the manual. Why is the ml so low? And not 1L. That part worries me alot cause this thing is brand new and i dont want to mess it up.
Actually the stock cover has a oil check bolt on the side cover and you level the bike and fill till the oil begins to drip out the oil check bolt. About 800ml is what’s needed to fill it to the needed level. At least that’s how it is on a ‘17 YZ450FH model.
this is overkill on changing oil just torque it to the point u think its thigt enough and you dont need to change the o ring cus its meant to be reuseble
How much oil do you put in your bike??? My manual says .68 L I just find that very odd. 1L came out and out of all the yamaha's we have had i have never put less than 1L

They actually share the same oil!
Great information. Thanks
Do you have to do gearbox fluid as well or is does it all share the same oil sorry in new to motocross
They actually share the same oil!
Hello Folks! What is the interval of gearbox oil change in YZ 450? (please in liters of burned fuel or mth)

How about a video on how to change the battery on a 2019 yz450f.
Two bolts on the rear number plates remove the seat and bam! There is is.

I believe this is a craftsman torque wrench he is using.
So it should be at the low line? As shown on this video?
Oil level should be in the upper part of the sight glass, above the low oil line when the bike is level.
@@rmatvmc I appreciate you guys so much i was filling the sight glass completely thanks

@@rmatvmc what oil is used for 2017 yz450f or is it the same?
Hi, can I use Motul 10w60 for yz450f 2017?
10W-40 oil is recommended for your 2017 YZ450F.
@@rmatvmc ok, thanks
great video
That's a pretty cool bolt set. Who makes that?
That is our Tusk Titanium bolt kit. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-6mm-titanium-flange-bolt-38-piece-kit-p
Not sure about those tho.. as the stalk bolts will break before the strip thread where as the titanium ones will not I would think

FireFleX91 18 YZ450F has a different engine from the 17 YZ450F
Really!! That is good to know
I just find it odd that it is such little oil
My dad has a yzf 450 and I wanted to change the oil and i did it so poorly 😂
this is overkill on changing oil just torque it to the point u think its thigt enough and you dont need to change the o ring cus its meant to be reuseble
You should read the owners manual before making how to videos.
Torqued the oil filter cover to 7.4 pounds,,,,,,,,, and sheered the bolt clean off! F___________________ck! Next time, purely by “feel”!
anyone watching this im telling you dont buy the magnetic drain bolt mine came out while riding and damn there blew up my bike
Damn forreal! I was thinking about getting it but did you torque it down to specs?
Of Wolf and Webster yeah its because its aluminum doesn’t torque down correctly and strips so that caused it to backout
@@BLand143 damn! Thanks for the heads up!

Of Wolf and Webster my 2016 takes 690cc’s with a filter change aka .69L bike has 100 hours on it and ive done that every oil change
Lol it takes just under a quart in the 2008 and 1.06 litre if changing filter with the oil and if flushing the cases it take 1.26 litres .
