Blue Dragon, Infinite undiscovery, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, and Lost Odyssey are all backwards compatible on the X Box One with a downloaded patch. Just in case anyone wanted to know which games from this video were available to play on the Xbox one.
Blue Dragon was the first RPG I played for Xbox 360. I honestly really loved the story of "Infinite Undescovery" it totally is underrated and it had so much lore that left an opportunity for a prequel or sequel. Star Ocean last hope had a great story with plot twists etc but I HATED the voice acting. Tales of Vesperia is easily one of the best games in the entire series/franchise and Lost Odyssey is everything that Final Fantasy 13 SHOULD have been.
The 360 got so many JRPGs at the start of last gen and they're mostly forgotten. But back then the console was even more of a JRPG machine than the PS4. There are some games that to this day are Xbox 360 only and because they didn't do well, on account of being a JRPG on the 360, they haven't gotten a sequel or even a remaster.
@@nickwick35 Yeah that's the second boss. And that's the moment you'll learn that learning and taking advantage of weaknesses is going to be your friend.
I tried to grind and level my way out of difficulty and failed. Memorising those elements is definitely a must. Demonic Infringement is a great piece of music, especially with the visual novel playing over the top of it.
Infinite undiscovery is my shit, I love that game and the massive plot twist to it, in my personal opinion it should be #1 on this list truly a underrated game on the 360
Yeh I was blown away by Nier too. Can't believe they mixed my 2 fav genre's, bullet hell + RPG which is crazy. And done well too. I'll def check some of these out!

Personally blue dragon was my favourite game on the Xbox and after 15 years still stands as my favourite game of all time. The game is a masterpiece in every element and shines as a true jrpg. In my opinion no game comes close to ever topping it and will forever hold up as the best. I do respect your opinions and great video btw.

Ah shit Lost Odyssey. That first boss was a pain in the ass took me many times to finish. Star Ocean Last Hope. I wonder how many times I’ve played that game, also, Reimi OP. Phantasy star. Loved the 1 and 2, twin sword user here. Infinite Undiscovery. I kinda like the MC’s sudden change in attitude when that event happened especially when he’s giving orders after that instead of requests. Eternal Sonata. The game I was sad not to finish because my xbox broke. Tales of Vesperia. We already know how awesome this game is.

Lost odyssey has set my personal standard for what rpgs should achieve. Many have, but Lost odyssey is probably the rpg ive played the longest in trying to 100%. I have a personal soft spot for infinite undiscovery, where at first i despised it but as i got used to the controls it got much more enjoyable. Gustav the bear best companion, fight me.
Mine are no.1 Eternal sonata No. 2 lost odyssey 3. Star ocean 4. Tales of vesperia 5. Nier What’s interesting is that my top 5 are the same as yours just diff order. Tho you did say top four was hard to place an order! ThaNkyou for creating this video 🎉
The fact that Lost Odyssey hasn't been ported to modern systems is an absolute crime. It's not emulatable either so you're stuck playing it on 360 or XB1 in backwards compatible mode. Lost Odyssey has one of the best soundtracks ever in a JRPG. Maybe the best although Fire Emblem Three Houses might have it beat there. Also Star Ocean Last Hope has been remastered for PS4/PC and is the best way to play it now IMO.'
Lost Odyssey is emulatable. It runs good enough on my old Ryzen 5 2600 / RX 570 system. It has some audio glitches and flickering shadows here and there, but I'm 10 hours in and having a blast. The emulators name is Xenia and I use my old PS2 controller with the 360ce contoller emulator.
It pained me missing out on lost odyssey. I wanted to play it so badly and Xbox was the one system I didn't own. The 7th gen I mostly stuck with my handhelds and the Wii. I eventually got a PS3 ,but that was way late in it's life cycle, as they were so expensive early on.
I liked the beginning of Lost Odyssey, but started not liking it near the end of the game. Blue Dragon is a really solid RPG and well worth 1 play through inmo.
Those damn singing brats should have been left at home. I love high fantasy jrpg's and I'm perfectly capable of suspending my disbelief, but I draw the line at 8/9yo kids being able to easily defeat trained soldiers in battles. The game turned out great but it really should have done without them.
my top 10 would be 1) Tales Of Vesperia ...2) Eternal Sonata...3) Blue Dragon...4) Final Fantasy 13...5) Magna Carta 2...6) Lost Odyssey...7) Star Ocean TLH...8) Infinite Undiscovery...9) Final Fantasy 13-2...10) Record Of Agarest War

Glad I found your video. Knew little about many of the games you put on your list, having only heard of some by reputation. I'm pretty sold on Xbox360 console, and its video games, but fell in love with JRPG's after playing Final Fantasy decades ago. My interest was reawakened after finding Infinte Undiscovery & just had to try it. I've just recently found Star Ocean's - Last Hope, and bought on speculation after seeing it had similar mechanics to other JRPG. Its to arrive in a few days, and hope that it is as well done as many say it is? Thanks for your recommendations. I will be on the lookout for other's that you might have suggested.
If you wanted an entire game of Ys VIII's raid battles. The characters looked good with a good story, but the whole gritty RPG on bland backgrounds thing has been better done.
i have 7 outta the 10 games you mentioned. I love your lists, im going to put up a Top 5 RPG Xbox 360 video soon.unfortunately i wont have gameplay yet. im still new to the video and content creation. i ordered my elgato card for my Saturn
It's actually my favorite console of the generation in terms of JRPGs. Lost Odyssey is easily the best in the generation, Vesperia was exclusive for years (though I played it in Japanese for the PS3) Blue Dragon is cool, and I also like Infinite Undiscovery. I also like a lot of Xbox360 exclusives from other genres, like Fable 2, Kameo: Elements of Power, Alan Wake and even the Dead Rising franchise.

I thought Lost Odyssey had wasted potential. With a main character who could live forever you could have had an epic plot spanning generations, but instead it just stayed in a snippet of time.

Out of this entire list. The only game I played was eternal sonata. And I never got to finish it. Funny thing is I just collected every game on this list except nier a few months back. Time to get back into it. Cool vid dude.
I think Nier has a great story and characters but the actual gameplay is somewhat mediocre. I miss in this list The Last Remnant, I really like that game, even if is not for everyone
JRPGs like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey and the last of the great RARE games before Microsoft and Kinect ruined the once great Developer. I liked Infinite Undiscovery when I was playing it. Lucky the story was what got me into the game and that is what an JRPG needs. Star Ocean Last Hope was really fun and enjoyable with character interactions. Overall, I brought the XBox 360 and PS3 on the same day so I could get the games that skipped the Nintendo systems and I was thankful I did that because before that I only ever had the money for just Nintendo consoles. JRPGs were the main reason why I went multi platform and the XBox 360 was the best XBox system I was lucky enough to own that did get some Japanese love.
Star Ocean: the Last Hope is one of my absolute favourite games, largely for the humourous (and largely missable) interaction between the characters, but also because for an action jrpg, the battles are generally quite fun; the 360 version also seems technically superior to the PS3 version. Vesperia was once my favourite jrpg but feels clunky on replaying (brilliant story, boring combat that I suck at), but Blue Dragon is my least favourite jrpg (the only one I only played through once), although I love the fact that they got Ian Gillan to sing on one of the battle background songs. Lost Odyssey is my 2nd least favourite- I just hate the characters. I do need to revisit Nier- I hated the gameplay and main character, but (as with Star Ocean 4) loved Laura Bailey's voice acting, but I may have a different perspective having played Nier Automata and Drakengard 3.
