- The Atari Jaguar is a home video game console developed by Atari Corporation and released in North America in November 1993. Part of the fifth generation of video game consoles, it competed with the 16-bit Sega Genesis and Super NES and the 32-bit 3DO Interactive Multiplayer that launched the same year. Despite its two custom 32-bit processors - Tom and Jerry - in addition to a Motorola 68000, Atari marketed it as the world's first 64-bit game system, emphasizing its 64-bit bus. The Jaguar launched with Cybermorph as the pack-in game.

Excellent console,excellent games 💎
I used to want a jaguar just so I could play doom. The commercial blew me away. Lol
Atari Jaguar was a hugely under appreciated and under supported machine, at the time the tech was clearly a gaming powerhouse and would have been easily capable of running many of the more technically demanding games created during that era.
If only major developers had realised the huge potential for developing new high level titles on this platform or even for crafting arcade perfect or even improved home ports of classic retro coin ops etc.
It's a great shame that this brilliant console represents a missed opportunity and that it never recieved the level of third party support and commitment that it clearly deserved but this really tells us a lot about how the World won't easily embrace change, major software houses of the time preferred to continue pumping out titles for the more established home consoles with which they were already far more familiar through extensive repeated cycles of devolpment and experience.
If ever there was an undersupported home console which deserved the chance to succeed though it was definitely the Atari Jaguar. 🎯👊💯
It's funny how so many people hate on the jaguar saying the graphics weren't impressive. But this thing came out in 1993. Even 3d pc games looked like this.
in fact the late Jaguar CD games rival the PlayStation to some degree. Atari dropped the ball with the support, they had a winner on their hand.
If atari still had all their divisions and didnt get broken up they would have had so many franchises to choose from. The Jaguar would have definitely benifited from this. Pitfall, Mortal Kombat, Nba Jam, Gauntlet, Marble Madness and Rampage would have been all exclusives. Think about it.
*Checkered flag look cool*
Wait it only had 55 games?
Is this an emulator. A bunch of these seem wrong...
Gotta be. Checkered flag was way too smooth
Did you already know that the atari token is available on ftm?
Why is doom running so slow.
Because it had a bad port
@@SkitBitProduction Bad port ? the Jaguar port of doom is the best of his era made by ID Software itself. Is really close to PC version.. here problem is just the emulator and bad capturing.
Yeah, none of it.
