- Do you prune your zucchini and other squash plants? If not, you should be. Let's talk about why.
Welcome to our Plan Bee! After 20 years of successful careers in the Los Angeles area we moved to rural Missouri and are taking steps to become more self-sustaining on our homestead. I break down all the farmy things into small manageable steps so you can start homesteading wherever you are.
We homestead on 2.5 acres in the Missouri Ozarks, and our garden hardiness zone is 6B.
Our weekly videos break down farming and gardening into small manageable steps so you can make the transition towards self sufficiency and food sustainability without being overwhelmed!
I garden in the Missouri Ozarks and am in hardiness zone 6B.

I never even thought about pruning squash but it sure makes sense to hear you explain it. Thanks 😊
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. It does help with finding those sneaky zucchini tho!
I saw a cucumber beetle. They have wreaked havoc on my squash and cucumbers and my gourds
Ugh. We have all the beetles. I’m so sorry to hear you’re dealing with them too.
Plants look great !
Thank you!!
I've had so much trouble with my zucchini getting pollinated this year. I finally have 1 that I picked and one that will be ready soon. I really think that will be the only ones this year so this will be great info for next year. My green beans have been decimated with Japanese beatles for the first year ever. I am sacrificing my beans for the rest of the garden I guess. They don't seem to be bothering anything else.
Oh no! Japanese beetles hot my sweet potato leaves and comfrey. I put out the traps and that helped a bunch. Both are coming back now! Yay!!
The bright yellow bird is a male goldfinch. The females are a greenish with black markings.
Thank you!! I’ll have to eye out for the female.
Wonderful information!! Next year will be great to apply these things!
So much to do next year. Every “next year” LOL
Great advice. Thanks!
You’re welcome.
