I poked my head out,"Whats going on, bro?" Looked out the window, and saw nothing but sky... Before he could answer, I said,"Lemme try." Bridge was out on a small 2 lane road we were routed down, and there was a little gravel road, going up a steep hill right before the bridge, with a sign on each side at the bottom. The road wasnt perfectly square to the 2 lane road; we could swing the trailer out the way we came in, but not the other way so we could drive out nose first. So my buddy was trying to pull up it, so he could swing the trailer around to get it behind us. I figured if we just got a little closer to the edge, we'd have enough room to swing it around, through the signs, and head back the way we came. So I backed up, repositioned, and started going back up the hill. I felt the tires slip, sideways, and felt the whole rig lean, and panicked. I popped the trailer and parking brake, and then called the fleet manager, while hanging off the driver door (idk what I thought my 200 lbs was gonna do to offset the 75k lbs of leaning machinery). Ended up having to get 2 semi wreckers. One through a cable around a tree and attached to the tractor, one hooked up to the tandems, and the slid the whole rig sideways a few feet. And then we had to drive backwards back down the hills, back onto the 2 lane road, and then keep driving backwards for 3 miles to get back to the Interstate. 😅 Was a huge pain in the azz. For reference, I was about 3 ft closer to the edge than he was, on an equally steep slope, in a tractor trailer loaded down with 2 layers of golf carts (so my trailer had more top weight than usual). First thing fleet asked when I told them what was going on was,"Is the load okay?" "Yeah, dude. Your load is fine for now. But we're about to fkn DIE!" 😅
