Wow the old lady asks very serious questions those questions are very in particular don't compare always that with other states of india but also compare with other countries states are really important to generalize this particular model
Prof. Bhaskar, do you really think that the Dravidian parties will ‘check’ the growth of private hospitals with the party leaders vying with each other to enter this lucrative field besides colleges and schools.
Wish the book has dealt at a greater length with the declining quality in public education and public health care. Once the standard of life improves, be it Dalits or BCs they choose only the private sector at the cost of breaking the bank.
Is the word Dravidian not a misnomer to describe the political economy of TN as the word is originally meant to encompass all the four Southern States.
The word Dravidian has different connotations. In linguistics, it is used in contra-distinction to Sanskrit, geographically, the southern States of India , politically to Tamilnadu and that too a brand of politics in opposition to the National parties. If I am not wrong, in the first election post independence Congress fared badly in the erstwhile Madras State .
@@arulsammymankondar30 - can we then call the politics of NTR who fought against the Congress as Dravidian. So also the left in Kerala and in W Bengal. The word Dravidian is loosely used without any special commotion and uniqueness. I am glad that someone, though very late, is responding to my posts. Our people priding themselves as Dravidian stock should have noticed this review much more widely. This is unfortunately the plight of the Dravidian stock.
@@pichumanisankar2617 I have my own opinion on the Dravidian issue but this is not the forum to discuss . Like any other identity term, it cannot be reduced to a single component.
@@pichumanisankar2617 If it has lost its meaning and identity, why should people who believe so react to the other party which believes that it is alive and kicking. You're in an unenviable position like that of an atheist: trying to prove to a theist that something that doesn't exist is harmful . This violates a basic principle- how can a non- existent entity be harmful?
It is not Dravidian. It is AntiBrahmin, Anti NonTamil languages anti homegrown culture and heritage. Dravidian name is utterly misused and deliberately disrespected with misleading.
The book talks about the dignity of lower castes which is far from reality. You see day to day humiliation and ill treatment of Dalits by upper castes.
Very poor viewership? An important book but not noticed by the likes of Suba Vee, Dr. Ezhilan and all other Dravidian thinkers. Perhaps serious stuff is beyond them?
Don’t understand the uniqueness of so called Dravidian model. Kerala, Maharashtra, AP and Gujarat can also said to have progressed on the same lines without any Dravidian philosophy. I am inclined to agree with the Lady Professor who said that the TN case of development, equity and dignity is over stated.

Bhaskaran mentioned only DMK forgetting that AIADMK ruled more number of years than DMK.

I agree with the lady professor that TN should now set the bar higher by comparing with the South Asian States rather than with other Indian States.

What is the explanation for the large number of migrant labourers working inTN?

No discussion on the freebies, unique to TN.

See 7:20-25 which gives answer. Of course, you may or may not agree.
Economic growth with a massive social enable . This is unique to TN.
