You are so welcome! I'm thrilled to know I covered things you haven't heard before. Sometimes I worry that it's "just another marker video". I really appreciate hearing otherwise. Thanks!
I have watched a lot of art video's. I have to say you have one of the best organized, well thought out, and entertaining art video I have watched. I do not know if you are a one woman team or you have other people helping out, but WAY TO Go! I hope that I can get as good as you at creating content. All of that and your information so incredibly informative!
Thank you so very much! I have a video editor but otherwise, it's just me. Your message here comes at a time when I'm stretched thin and struggling with the channel direction. Thank you for the encouragement, it helps more than you know.
Great to hear! Glad you're benefitting from the list and the explanations. When a marker is difficult to blend, you could be dealing with a staining marker but also consider your paper. For most people, improving your paper will immediately improve the quality of your blending.
Have no idea why I found your statement on no new markers coming disappointing. This information is very good and I appreciate you doing these. I want to scream and scream about telling people don’t waste money on “cheap” markers and I’m not an artist. Can’t imagine how frustrating this issue must be for you
You're correct, the cheap marker thing is frustrating. I think the watercolor instructors have it worse though. Once upon a time, they only had to warn people not to buy the little box of 8 watercolors from the Walmart back-to-school section. Now they've got a list a mile long of all the crafty watercolor markers, pencils, and travel boxes of terrible paint. I don't know how they get out of bed in the morning, hahahha.
It seems that everyone in the comments is thinking the same thing! Why did we not find you before we brought the 300+ markers! This is very helpful, thank you
This is exactly the kind of detail I want when learning about alcohol markers.. In fact I would take even more haha. Id pay for an hour long lecture about every individual marker, I wanna know EVERYTHINGGGGG Thank you&greetings from 🇨🇭 (which I see was mentioned in the newest Vanilla Beans at the end..?)
Hahaha, yes-- Switzerland was a teaser. We're talking about neutrality tomorrow... or maybe raclette... Now that I think about it, I'd much rather talk cheese.
@@AmyShulke oh haha! I’ll talk about Gruyère any time. And on that same note, the name Vanilla Arts makes me hungry every time I see it. But I’m not mad at it!
Thank you soo very much for this video.. I do not own any copic markers “yet” and am soo happy to have found your channel.. A lot of great information, Thank you again 😊
Just wanted to jump in cause your videos have a lot of great information! There is nothing cultural in Japan that would stop them from making purple. It's probably just that it's difficult to make.
Excellent. Thanks for the info! Japan is on the bucket list but even an extended visit wouldn't be enough to learn which colors they favor and why. I appreciate the insight.
I do need all the blue Copics 😂. I used to work dangerously close to a Blick store once a month or so 🙄I’d drop in and buy 5-10 Copics, unfortunately I’ve moved to another state with no Blicks 😢. And yes what’s with the purple markers?
I'm Blickless. At this point, if I was able to wander into one, I think I'd be like the Tasmanian Devil, buying 14 of everything. Yellows and purples. I love ya, Copic but grrrrrrr. I've been waiting for decades for an expanded Y and V palette.
I wish I'd found you much earlier, could have saved a lot of money. I bought a lot of blending groups from watching a lady who is a wonderful colorist. But yeah I needed the "Blending in Baby Steps" manual lol.
Baby steps is a good way of phrasing it. It's very common for people to get excited and they want all the stuff right and all the info right away. And we tell ourselves, we've used Crayola before, so we certainly won't be a complete beginner. But there really is a learning curve and buying all the bells and whistles doesn't change the curve. I totally get ya. Thanks for sharing!
I couldn't agree more on the purple markers, ugh! I started out with the ceres, but honestly they don't blend properly. V09 is beautiful, and I can do with V06, but V04 is practically neon 😵💫 I did wait with the BVs but honestly I use those a whole lot more than my Vs. I not sure what was wrong with the B20ies, I love those. I chose them over 30ies (back in the day), although I do have B39+37. But the truest thing in here is that it ends with B21 - or B32. And everyone is using the BOO 🤣🤣 but I don't like it 😩 I will have to get the 41. Do you know if that lightens B21?
Totally agree on V04. I cringe at the color whenever I use it. The B20s are more staining which is why sit third place behind the B30s and B90s, at least for beginners. I also underpaint with Bs a lot and I think the B30s sit underneath browns, reds, and violets better than the 20s. And yes, you can use B41 as the next step lighter than B21.
Or you can try the ohuhu markers they ate wonderful I love them greatly, and much cheaper, they are also available in open stock and some Refillable ink, although they don’t have all the colours yet .
I think we must agree to disagree on Ohuhu. I feel strongly that they're a major rip-off and my list in this video would be radically different if I had to pick through my Ohuhu 320 set to find the few blues that do not stain and actually blend easily. ua-cam.com/video/GlyTz6hQVgg/v-deo.html
I will say quite honestly that if I had found you before I brought all 358 markers, I’d have been less poor…lol. Since I’m a whole set kinda person, maybe how I purchased them would have made more sense.
@@zaeerinko1787I didn’t even know copic was refillable until I say Amy’s videos. It’s a good thing I didn’t use them right away. I had waited because I wanted to find out how to use them for more than cards. I had seen someone do a picture once that looked like you could pick it up, it looked that real. Then I found out she had studied under Amy. Now I’m hooked 😊.

Thanks Alex! Let me know when I get too deep in the weeds, LOL.

The B 91, 93, 95, 99 make great blue 👖
Absolutely! The B90s should be named Wrangler, Levi, Boyfriend, Skinny, and Acid Washed.

They give you just enough to needing more to get the variety.
True. Which is why I keep hitting this point. So many people buy a set and assume they're good for a while.

Yes I am…and that is one of the reasons I like to garden.
Yeah me too, I mean I am a whole set person but now i dont have enough money to but refills before any of my colors die completely 🙂
