When I first saw this on PBS in the early 1990s, I was blown away. This trilogy, along with books by Starhawk, Kisma Stepanich (Sister Moon Lodge) and others opened doors, doors that in many ways, I am still stepping through.
This video was made in the late 80s. How sad that we can listen to these discussions and they haven't changed or made any progress, but if anything are now worse. 😢
@Blissed Out I draw my spiritual strength from the turning of the Wheel of the Yearand the Goddess. I no longer bleed so I am devoted to the Crone goddesses. Only Christianity has this need to control women, as did their forbears in the past, such as Rome and other patriarchal cultures. I believe that if a particular soul is to incarnate, if not in one body, then another. And where did I say anything about frogs.
Marianne Williamson mentioned this documentary on a recent podcast, if we can possibly elect her as president or if she creates a large enough movement in the process, the divine feminine ideals and the necessary change in collective thought (true reverence and oneness with the nature) could finally come into fruition. I agree the world does seem to keep getting worse, she gives me a little hope.
@@harrietharlow9929I am ok w being done w the cycle. I gain less and less joy from all this. Tragic. It is the word that best describes the world I see today. Of course, I feel there is intent behind warming the earth. Melting Antarctica.
That was the first chant I learned, almost 30 years ago. I remember taking a bath and singing along to a chant tape. And you are right, it is magickal!
I remember seeing this series many years ago. It was shown on PBS when that was still an important educational platform....it is not so much anymore. I wonder how long ago this was first broadcast. If my memory serves, it was in the 90s.

Actually Beltane is NOT Celtic/Keltic. It is one of various names used by the cultures that were Keltic. Depending where one lived in the Keltic world (which stretched from Ireland to the way to Switzerland, Scotland to Spain) the celebration of Springtime had different names.
Thank you so much for this. Going on 30 years later, and this is still super relevant.
I remember renting this from the local library as a 8th grader over and over and reading The Spiral Dance at the same time. I was in awe.

@FruitOfLIfe Just look at the misogyny and the striking down of Roe v. Wade.
