- One of the most requested project ideas this holiday season has been Jingle Bells or Sleigh bells. I have some bell blanks cut by Stoney Point Forge; This is part one on the subject, I am sure I will be making a second video on these bells, they seem to be addicting to make.

On the fifteenth day of Christmas the black bear made for me, jingle bels, a candy dish, a paper towel holder, a menorah, BBQ tongs, a stocking hanger, a Christmas tree ornament, a cabinet pull, a dinner bell, a steak flipper, a hose hanger, a bottle opener, a candle snuffer, a nice wreath hook and a beaitifull coat hook. Love these bells!
You are a ARTIST
I really wished I had one very nice 👍 thank you very much I really enjoy your Videos merry Christmas from Germany
That little bell brought back so many memories 😁 It, and the medium brass brushed one, look awesome 👍
Great process…. I work with silver…..this is a great project, and much easier in silver, as you can work it cold.
Good choice Ting Ting. Never thought to make a bell. Very cool. The leather strap idea is gold. Thank you John
Great timing. I just bought a set of those Stoney Point blanks and the little swage he sells. Like you, I've never made a sleigh bell before, so it was fun to watch you work through the process.
That small one with leaf pattern came out nice
I am a bell maker for 35 plus years making only falconry bells but lately Ive been interested in larger bells, however I do not have a forge, nonetheless I'll make something. Thanks so much for sharing this sir.
Cool project.
I am a professional santa and I'm always looking for ways to upgrade my suit or my Santa props thank you for leading me to somebody who can send me some materials to make these thing I appreciate it
I'd get the kit and then be setup for seasonal production for your etsy shop. Makes me wish I had my hobby forge setup, the donkeys would sound neat with sleigh bells on as they roam the pasture.
I liked when you rang them all together. Good job. Take care and Merry Christmas to you.
Great to hear you took some time with family. Sounds like it was worth it for sure 👍🏼
Thanks for this great video. I always wondered how these were made. And I now I know about the yule log.
Some interesting techniques used in this project, great to see them made and hear the finished bell.
They look great! Thanks for sharing John!
Sounds like you had a great time. I will never forget the bells song on grandpa's horse rigging. Thanks again my friend.
Thanks for the pipe idea. I tried rolling one over and yet to get it right. Like the ring idea.
Great video, thank you for showing different options for attachment. I sent you a picture of my first one I made last year as a hanging Christmas tree ornament.
Thank you.
They look beautiful John!
Another nice project John! 🐾🔥⚒🎅🔔🎶
lol they look like throwing stars.
Takes a brave man do some thing on video he has not done before.
You kinda look like a kid at Christmas making those) Great project. Looking forward to part two
Not bad at all. Thanks for showing.
I just realized I have the exact dual-sized caliper you have hanging on the wall behind you.
Excellent again! Thanks!
That’s a fiddle little project. I enjoyed that. I was hoping you would do a video on them I bought a few blanks and was waiting to see how you plan on doing them. Thx again for the different techniques .....Paul
The first go round I did mine entirely on a wood block and a ball peen hammer. As it burned in, it increased the cup depth. It can be done without a swage block or tools.
Thanks bro
Please post pics of the cat harnessed up haha
I'm quick this week!
I think you done a nice job sir
Love this! I am wondering about post production engraving for the decoration on the bell as well. And if, since these are more delicate, if the plenishing hammer would work better. And thinking these would sound awesome on a gate... because I love gates.
Sounds great, just on ebay last nite looking at those blanks. Wonder if its the same guy. Show me hows its done.
This reminded me of a technique i came across when i was looking for bronze domes some time ago: dapping
That made me wonder if doming the whole blank in the biggest depression before moving to the smaller depressions to dome the center/bottom would make a neater bell. :)
It would be worth exploring
The blanks look almost exactly ninja throwing stars. I don't imagine you'ld want to do a series like that in the new year? I would love to see your approach to making caltrops. Just sayin'. Cheers!
¶¶ when I was a little bitty boy, my grandmother bought me a cute little toy, silver bells on a string, she said it was my ........¶¶ sorry had to ;)
Thank you so much for your videos! These look like they'd make great gift ornaments for family and friends. I'm working on making more tools and planning on making a variety of punches/chisels/slitters/drifts/etc and a touchmark. I know that you've said before that you use S7 for punches. What would you suggest for a touchmark? Also, what can I expect as far as durability if I use 4140 for punches instead of S7? It is about half the price from my supplier.
John Bennett does a nice Demo
No forging in the jingle bell rhythm i was hoping so hard 😅
“On Lumpy, on Bumpy! On Kinky and Crooked!”
I swear I've watched another jingle bell video where they has to heat treat in order to get a good ring. Different type of metal I suppose.
Hardening the steel would make a better ring, but it doesn't matter that much
A different kind of bell: ua-cam.com/video/8tuYsqVYC38/v-deo.html
And this is part 2 of another, but the swiveling swage block setup is what is cool: ua-cam.com/video/tgRZ-_Aix9I/v-deo.html 🐾🔥⚒🎅
One more: ua-cam.com/video/75eyHUGPl4A/v-deo.html
11:57 was so close to being 🎶jingle bells, jingle bells 🎶
Thats what I was aiming for
I love it ♥️♥️
This is harder than it looks without a cup swage :(
