For a politician who made a controversial vote, it might be “I have served my constituents for x amount of time, and in that time I’ve met those who supported me, and those that did not. I find it equally as important that I make both of their voices heard, in as many matters as I can.” No matter what hard question is asked, the “preamble” technique will work for any of them. You may want to prepare multiple, or figure out how to rephrase the same one in many ways if you’re going into a tough interview. That was my takeaway, at least.
