Hi Jani, I replaced my timing chain at about 170k KMs, thanks a lot to your videos. Old one was however hardly elongated. Also noticed quite surprisingly it was possible to install the fly wheel pin at a different position which is quite alarming as i initially thought my chain had skipped teeth. But finally managed to install with all pistons lined up.
I am sincerely thankful for this wonderful video. I am so great. I am so thankful. I have a 2015 bmw 116i sport line. And I would like to take on this task on my own. I would be even more grateful for a detailed reassemble video. And again many rhanks.
Hi I am going to attempt this job how ever I have one issue, I have been told that I need to have piston 1 in tdc position but from what I can see you have not done that is there a reason for this
hi bro thanks for your viddeo it does help me a lot appreciate much. anyway when u going to plan to do the rear main seal / gearbox flywheel seal? would happy got more confirmation how to take off the gb ...
Hi! Check my video of removing gearbox from N43 motor. Process is about same: ua-cam.com/video/-H9U3tZGwYA/v-deo.html Also crankshaft seals: ua-cam.com/video/L0ivwXzVKXw/v-deo.html
Thanks! 👍 It would seem that the turbo does not need to be removed. It is enough to remove the intake silencer housing and clean air pipe from the front.
As always just top notch the filming and descriptions! Would yo say the N13 is easier than the N43 to change the chain ? Is the counter hold tool you use here to release the crankbolt also for the N43 usable ? Thanks and keep that stuff coming!
Thanks! 👍 The N13 engine’s flywheel locking tool gets more easily in place than the N43 engine. In the N43 engine, the intake manifold must be removed from the front before the PIN locking tool can be inserted. In addition, there are no fuel lines on top of the valve cover. I'm not sure about that holder tool 119280 that it works on the N43 engine. The BMW manual recommends using tool 118180 (the same one I also use in this video)
How do I get to tdc and make sure all the camshafts are in the correct position when my exhaust camshaft is slightly in the wrong angle due to my timing chain skipping a tooth ? And how do I fix the timing ? Thank you.
I recommend! If you want to take good care of your engine. You may want to watch a video on measuring the chain: ua-cam.com/video/_dZ6cuqy69A/v-deo.html
Personally, I decided to just change the timing chain. I would argue that less often the oil pump chain is a problem. I will then change it separately if I ever need to remove the oil sump ...

You are very handy man. Great work !

THANKS,,, YOUR VIDS R BRILLLL ,STRAIT TO TO THE POINT ETC
very nice video!! i think the vanos unit had some amount of oil inside ,that's why the camshaft rotate slightly when you turned him.
hey good work
how to adjust the Crank position with the camshaft ,
About to try this myself! Can you add the used special tool numbers for video?
Great vid, how long did the job take? Also how reliable has the n13 and F20 been otherwise?
Please help, i did my timing replacement for the same engine but then i get rattling sound while accelerating at 1000 - 3000 RPM
Moro, onko järkeä tehdä vaihtoa vielä jos ääntä ei tosiaan vielä kuulu?
How many hours have you been in the work? thanks

Excellent video! Can you advise if it is necessary to remove the turbo when replacing the exhaust vanos solenoid? Thanks!

@@JaniVoutilainen Thanks. Much appreciated. Best!.
@@JaniVoutilainen Btw .. what kind of bolt is used to fasten the solenoid? Normal bolt or Torx bolt? Happened to remember the size? Tnx
Esse cara é foda !!!

New friend HelloTravel 😃👍🌷
Super!

Bonjour, pourquoi tu as changé la chaîne ?
Because the chain was stretched. 👍
I measured the chain elongation in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/_dZ6cuqy69A/v-deo.html
Hi , so I should change the chain at 160.000 km , is this recomand by producers ? I have 116i, 2011 f20 model , thank you

Why not change the oilpump chaine

I will then change it separately if I ever need to remove the oil sump ...
