    Pokimane is a quick study. She thinks before she moves---the best way to improve. Impressive for a beginner.

    I kept hearing people say that Poke was naturally talented at chess. After watching this, I have to say that it feels like she is just starting so far ahead of the average person. She talks as if the concepts are simple, which just shows the insanity of how naturally talented she is. Its crazy to watch and hear that this is only after 2 weeks of playing.

    • @michaelh878
      @michaelh878 3 роки тому

      Yeah she's definitely talented. Just will depend on how much effort she puts in compared to Ludwig and co. who are so far ahead. She could be close to their level by the end of the tournament but the first games may come too soon.

      @@NavyNukerz1337 I said by the end of the tournament she could be at a similar level but obviously she will be in the losers bracket and him the winners bracket. Hafu had no experience and got to around 1200 in a month so it's not impossible.

    • @NavyNukerz1337
      @NavyNukerz1337 3 роки тому +1

      @@michaelh878 "It's not impossible" Yeah it's extremely unlikely. Pokemaine is a casual gamer, no offense or any disrespect but in this conversation it's important. Hafu? She went to World Championship for WoW Arena (Blizzcon), then a year later she was in the world first kill for Yogg Saron (One of the hardest bosses of all time). Hafu a couple years later became professional Hearthstone player who went to tournaments. Hafu is 1200 because she puts incredible dedication into shit. Pokemaine is 500 because she sees it as a playful hobby. Not judging either one of them, but if we are to ask ourselves, How likely is it for the casual gamer to out match the dedicated gamer, it's going to very low. I hate how girls like Hafu put in thousands of hours in something (not specifically chess) and they constantly have the outside audience shitting on them for potentially being carried. Then girls like Pokemaine touch a virgin game like chess and they instantly get showered with praise, without any achievement. This is not a battle of Queens, this is recognizing talent and determination. I love the quote "it's not impossible" I'm sure it's not impossible Ludwig to have a brain tumor grow before the next PogChamps and he loses half of his brain function or Ludwig gains brain function. I'm sure either of those are equal as likely to Pokemaine without any change of determination climbing 700+ rating.

    Great job, Pokimane! I'll be honest I wouldn't have expected such good chess ability after so little time. I'm maybe (maybe) a bit ahead of you, but I've been playing on an off for decades! :D
    If you want to get the most out of those puzzles, you have to trudge through the painful analysis until you TOTALLY see the answer. If you kinda sorta see a few steps and make the first move to confirm, you're not working your brain muscles. Like "leg day" at the gym, it's gotta hurt!

    Alex shouldn't have moved the knight to attack the bishop. No one is going to play that aggressively and precisely in POG champs. I get that she was showing Imane the merits of h3, but given the limited time, she should have focused on piece development, controlling the center, and attacking. I think Pokimane's defense is OK, but if she doesn't develop her pieces correctly, defense can briefly be addressed while simultaneously covering piece development. Even controlling the center can enhance defense, making it superfluous to explicitly address defense. Moreover, it's a joy to watch Pokimane learning and improving her chess skills. Just wish it was me teaching her.

      @InfiniteUniverse88 3 роки тому

      @@leurts Better at teaching Imane to win POG champs. I'm basically saying I could teach Imane to be a mediocre player faster than her current tutors. If I were to tutor Pokimane, and she wins POG champs that would be proof. I've left detailed criticisms of Imane's chess tutors. Many of my criticisms were implemented into later videos. One of my main points was that what Imane's tutors were teaching her, was too advanced for her level and for the POG-champ level. I would teach things more relevant to POG champs. A suggestion I made today was that sparring partners 100-200 rating points higher than her should be her opponents. When she makes ~3 losses in tempo or loss of material, the game should end and the tutor should tell her "attack" or "develop." The less that's said, the better. When Imane can defeat the opponent rated 100-200 points higher than her, then she should play a rated game. It would be better if there were multiple sparring partners. They would need to have the time and patience to play several half games with Imane. Alternatively, a U2000 player can try to emulate a U1300 player. There can be a second tutor IM tier or higher to quickly see good positional moves, which oversees my tutoring. I wouldn't hesitate to tell him his advice is too advanced midstream. From comments I made in Pokimane chess videos, my knowledge of chess is self-evident. More than enough knowledge to prepare someone for POG champs. Those players are very low rated. Tutoring in person would be 20x better than tutoring online, but online tutoring is better than nothing. I taught a six year old chess at my local chess club once. It only took about 30mins. The very first thing I showed him was "you can move a knight" and "you can move a pawn." Very little needs to be said. The moral of the story the best way to learn is by doing, with only an occasional sentence and demonstration to nudge the student in the right direction. I don't believe there's anyone else on this planet who could have done a better job teaching that kid chess. In 30min, I changed his life forever.

      Chess dot com. Ratings aside, what I meant is that she is nearly as good as someone whose been playing for months, when she’s only been playing chess for a week. Also, she can solve tactics by mere intuition that would normally give most beginners a hard time to solve.
