If the opponent did not give up, to do your best until the end is the greatest respect and sportsmanship for the opponent. The Korean player expressed concern for the opponent during Gashim's injury scene and after the game. Gashim also acknowledged Park after the game. I hope Gashim's injury is not serious.

For those whiners in the comments who are like the korean player should have gone gentle and not kicked his back when injured... would you say the same thing to other sports? Should a skier go gentle and slow because the other skier is injured, refuses to give up, and going really slow? If the korean dude did cheat or broke the rule, then he would have gotten a red card. He didn't. It's about defeating the competitor in shortest amount of time within the rules.

And if you get kicked out, you get a yellow. That's why the korean player kicked him out. The referee did not pause the game, so the korean player did what he had to do to win the game. This is a professional level Olympics game, not a baby sitting. If the azer player felt so painful, he should've given up. Don't mind them. They are bitter that they lost. If he was injured and couldn't properly fight, he should've give up. Not play the victim who's getting beaten because this isn't a street corner fight but an Olympic sport event! If he chose to stay and fight, then he should fight and not whine! Just abandon if you can't anymore. But he wanted to play the victim so he could have everyone's pity... That was an unsportsmanlike behavior. The people angry in the comments are from Azerbaijan, not others. Park Tae Joon was amazing! His skill is insane! Well, you koreans invented Taekwondo and it's not surprising to see such an impresive level but still, wow! Congratulations and greetings from Romania 🇹🇩! 👏💪✊️😊❤️

@@Kat-uy2ri I know the feeling. Ignore them, don't read them. Romania was wronged in the women's gymnastics, artistic gymnastics and we also got rude comments. I've learned that the best way to deal with something like this is to ignore them, the negative comments. Tae Joon earned his medal and deserves it. I didn't see anything wrong. I can understand their frustration but they look at this subjectively and I, as an outsider, I can see that he didn't mean to hurt the AZ guy, he didn't know he wanted to leave the ring. As soon as he saw that, he stopped. Once you're in a fight, especially in a Taekwondo fight, the kicks are quick, it doesn't give the athletes very much time to think in between them. As can one see in the video, it was a matter of a second... that kick. There were two kicks, one before the AZ guy started retiring and after a second came the second kick while the AZ tried to leave the ring... How can TJ anticipate that his opponent will try to leave the mat? It's also not his fault that his opponent chose to fight with an injury. TJ continued the fight as he was supposed to. Nothing cruel here. The AZ people need some time to cool off and see things in a different perspective. At the end, they hugged each other. This is how sport is... There wasn't a rule broken and they need to accept it and get over it. From my point of view, TJ would have won even if the AZ guy wouldn't have been injured. AZ athlete was good but TJ was on another level, AZ had no chance to win...
