People interested in every day carry for protection can ABSOLUTELY get excellent advice and tips from competitive shooters. Especially how to think and solve problems while shooting. I never really wanted to get into competition, but am considering trying to participate in a competition now. Not to compete against others because they train to do this almost daily. But to challenge myself. Get a baseline on where I’m at now, then put all this advice into my training and practice when I can and see where I’ve progressed and where I need to improve, then try again. Good stuff!
