So many of these video's showing sponsored anglers fishing over-stocked puddles. Love to see organisers put you blokes on rivers and see how good you really are.
Despite the bitterness of the comment I partly agree with you. Commercials and carp have made many 'instant' anglers. For the record I started match fishing with a local club and with leeds juniors and have won matches on the swale, wharfe, nidd, ouse , derwent, Calder, trent etc. But if I'd carried on with rivers I doubt I'd be sponsored today. Commercial puddles are where the biggest events, the tv coverage and the biggest prizes are. I get more pleasure out of fishing rivers, which I do occasionally (not in matches) but from a competition view I cannot do both at the same time
