Jayson your father not only liked you ..he loved you. As adults we have to remember that we do not know our parents 'back story '. Parents never really tell their children every thing about their upbringing. Somethings are better left unsaid. Sometimes parents mimick what was shown to them maybe your father only knew though love as a way of saying 'I love you'. That doesn't mean it was right it just means that's what he was taught. I am sure you father showed love towards you as best as he could. Never forget that. Always strive to be the change you want to see in the world. Keep this in mind..no matter how much of your upbringing you share with your children you will never tell them everything because some memories people mentally block out for one reason or another. I will tell you something that a wise person told me. 'Hold on to the good memories, and let the bad ones go". In time you will see that having inner peace is worth more than you could have ever imagined. While you will never be perfect you will always be a work in progress as a child of God.
