Regardless they are better than a bare head... no they shouldn't give you a false sense of security or anything but they'll prevent blunt trauma to your skull. Children should be wearing them because their sutures aren't fully fused making their skulls less strong.
@andrewm153351 At 45 yrs of age,I'm hardly Delusional.James Naismith was the Canadian physical education instructor who invented basketball in 1891,born in Almonte, Ontario Canada.A Canadian no matter how you wish to sugar coat it.One of the teachers of a school called "King's View Academy" in Nova Scotia Canada asked his students to make up a winter sport as the part of their project work. It is also believed the games the students made up and played on the frozen pond was ice hockey.
@andrewm153351 for the record. Rodeo is a sport rooted in Spanish and Mexican tradition. Rodeo comes from the Spanish word rodear which means to surround. In the 1700s Spanish noblemen and their descendants taught their Mexican workers (vaqueros) the horseback skills needed to herd and drive cattle to market. The necessity of the cattle drive evolved into the modern sport of rodeo.Watch the Rick Mercer report on Talking with Americans You're obviously showing the same characteristics.
I started with barrels, I know how it goes. But a little girl like that? I mean, c'mon; she's five years old riding trick horses! If she was a lot older, I could understand. But she's five. At that age, the bones in your skull still aren't fused. One bad fall could seriously injure - or kill - her. I don't wanna rain on anyones parade, because RMR is great and rodeo is incredibly fun, but I believe that it should be the law to wear a helmet if under 18 - regardless of discipline!
Not to sound like a jerk but I don't care how bombproof Tess' pony is, she should be wearing a helmet. End story. Horses aren't infallible and can spook no matter how well trained they are.
they shouldn't make you take more chances but the evidence proves they do. so despite any protection they may offer they actually increase the amount of injuries. saying they should wear a helmet without full face protection makes a person a hypocrite, they are saying in effect just wear half the protection available. I assume when you ride you wear a helmet? is it a full face helmet? if you choose not to use a full face do you at least make sure your children do?
you don't sound like a jerk you sound like an uninformed person who believes something because of what they have been told by others. not uncommon. time magazine did an article on weather or not helmets prevent concussions and no they don't.. if you want to use the argument that it could save her from a sharp object then she would need a full face helmet since the most vulnerable part of your face is your eyes. your riding helmet offers no protection for that. not my opinion but the facts.
@andrewm153351 Not a big deal here, either way.Now go make some more childish remarks on other you tube vid's.Hopefully you'll grow up to be a positive productive member of society at some point, good luck on your quest. Cheers.
I'd just like to point out that the prairies don't stop at the border on either side. Rodeo is a part of the lifestyle, it's not stealing from anyone.
Lmaoo "its like flying on Air Canada" i luv rick

This is pretty good. With the exception that that little girl should be wearing a helmet....I can't believe they let her trick ride without one!

What I don't understand is why he went to the rodeo in Edmonton, when Calgary Cowboy Culture is only a couple hours away...

Rodeo's are cool looking but so bad for the animals. Should quit them.
