I think the majority are doing (planning) it for advancing the career and/or get a new job. Only a few would do it for the challenge or as a hobby. I think you guys are losing the true vision behind CCIE.
I personally don't think worth the cost/time/money to invest in this certification, UNLESS if this is going to help your job or position and be paid by your employer. Technology is moving so fast that's getting harder to keep up, I myself hold a few IT certifications and done some IT Contract work, but nothing permanently or full time. The keyword in the description "relevancy" not only with the new technology but also AI and Generative AI, which could affect your job in the long run.
