I have been watching the speedrun ever since it started, the best part besides his teaching is seeing his community grow, like being gifted 100 subs in this video and seeing him surpass 200K on youtube. Im sure not even the prophet himself could have predicted this. Keep it up Danya.
Honestly, Danya said multiple times on stream that he did see it and actually expected the channel to grow faster.
@@SoundAndFuryy Did he?
By the way, do you know how much 100 subs is worth? I don't but I'm assuming it's a lot from Danya's reactions.
@@WhiskeredBope $500
@@jadenkerenyi5412 streamers make $2.50 per sub but depending on their partnership can get up to $3.50
Danya: "I'm not going to pretend that this was difficult, it's easy to visualize these endgames" (calculating 15 moves ahead, across multiple trees)
Me: *Tries to visualize 5 moves ahead in a won King-Pawn endgame. Gets a stalemate*
That's some Gotham content
I would lose that position lol
even at 1700

The Greatest Chess Series On UA-cam. Period.
Why Do You Type Like This
Your profile photo made me wipe my screen😆
@@AdeshBenipal my two bro 🤣🤣
I taught why is it not at all going.🤣
Every video he has made so far I’ve grabbed something substantial. Great teacher
This is one of my favorites. The pawn endgame stuff was beautiful. Thanks as always Daniel!
Hi Daniel, Ive recently got back into chess after not playing for a couple years and when i stopped my rating was about 1400.
Now I started going to my chess club again and playing the occasional sunday tournament and in my 2 classical games so far Ive drawn against a 1900 and won against an 1800.
This improvement definitely comes from having watched a TON of your videos recently and your way of explainings complex things in a simple and understandable way is truly amazing.
So thank you for the outstanding content!
Winning one game dosent mean its your rating
@@natasdabsi1138 i didnt claim that, but suddenly being able to hold my ground vs much higher rated players definitely means I improved
@@haugi357 i agree, congrats
Holy shit that pawn endgame. Unbelievable
right ,i neeed more of these endgame wisdom from danya to reach 2300..that was really something else..daaaaaaaaamn girrrl
Daniel is always so respectful of is opponent even if he's a strong GM barely phased by what they play.
yeah .. unlike hikaru
@@ayushkumar7448 why comparing him to hikaru lol
Keep in mind this is a carefully designed and controlled personna for the public...
@@ChessJourneyman What evidence do you have to prove any ingenuity?
@@ChessJourneymanWhats more likely: Daniel is a horrible or disrespectful person on the inside or off camera, or hes just a chill guy who loves chess? Dude gives us lessons for free and you think its all a front.
sometime in the first speedrun the prophet said, "there will be only one speedrun." Now he is close to finishing his third and I'm really hoping for a fourth.
100%
Glad I'm not the only one who remembers that!
i hope he does speedrun of e4 only or d4 only etc
they get tons of views and make money, no reason to ever stop
We need another speed-run series after this one. Learning so much from this!!
Thank you Danya!! This video immensely helped me to get through a tough night. The end game techniques are very instructive. I hope this series continue beyond 2200….
I remember watching this video as it came out years ago. Now im a much stronger player. Initially i hadnt realized how much stuff about the endgame you had taught me. But now as I watch this video again I casually come up with a very similar technique you showed with the bishop and rook endgame. Rd7 was very intuitive for me in seeing that we had to defend the rook and the bishop with the critical follow up of Rc7. Years ago I never wouldve seen that. Now its intuitive. Thank you again danya for all your wisdom.
I wish you would make a speedrun of just going up a pawn, trade everything and show how to convert the pawn up end game, just for instructional purposes. One of my favorite episodes in the last few ones, thank you for uploading.
I love that Danya gifts the viewers subs for good suggestions
amazing stuff, thanks Daniel
i saw the winning g3 move when he got into the position, but foreseeing a zugzwang, the winning pawn sac, and also calculating if the king can get to the corner fast enough with only a minute on the clock is absurd
And then he called it easy 🥲🥲🥲
This is my first time watching a Danya video(apart from his commentary) and honestly, I am very impressed by how instructive and amazing this is. Count me as a regular viewer from now on!
Best chess content in the internet hands down.
It's amazing how complicated a simple pawns and king endgame can be
Even though its not technically a speedrun this is the best chess "speedrun" series on youtube
Great opening, great endgame. One of best and most instructive videos in the series.
18:51 bravo! Always amazing to see you playing "ceiling chess".
Level of composure when you have 20 sec on the clock is amazing
He is a master at bullet
Danya has outdone himself again. These videos are absolute gold
I wanna see more King\Pawn endgames. I feel like not a lot of instructors really go over it much.
Yeah those can be extremely hard.. I would have drawn this endgame easily.
@@tomask8304 Same, maybe if I had unlimited time and didn't get impatient, I might have figured it out when Daniel thought for that while there, but there's no way I would have figured it out in 30 seconds. I would really like to find something that teaches those endgames and how to figure them out fast enough to use in such short time.
Absolutely agreed, I need more resources for learning these endgames and this was a really instructive game
5:53 damn, savage Danya 😂😂
Sadly it took me until your comment to realise it was sarcasm on his part. Just sitting there wondering how to exploit it without a queen or dark sq bishop.
I think it's worth mentioning that at 29:05, ... h6 is the third legal move. While the resultant position looks similar to ... g4 (after say 1. ... h6 2. Kf3 g4+ 3. Kf4 g3 4. Kxg3 Kg5) , the key difference is that now the pawn is on h6 instead of h7, which means white king is able to spend one less move capturing the pawn, and is now in time to hurry back and stop the a pawn from promoting.
Crazy how a seemingly indifferent pawn move can completely change the course of the game.
That calculation down to 20 seconds then basically premoving the rest of the game was unbelievable
Daniel is a beast. Definitely my favorite GM!!!!
Thanks Daniel! best teacher on UA-cam in these games. I love your speedruns, best ever :)
That a6 move did indeed make the difference ! Thanks for the tips :)
Thanks for the nice endgame explanations!!
Can't wait until you publish the next video of the newly started endgame/strategy series!!
Thank you for making these videos Danya, I enjoy watching them sooo much! You are such a great teacher, a joy to watch 😌
Fantastic breakdown of these positions, as expected from the prophet
12:59 Oh my guide.
yahweh would be very displeased if he said it with correct pronunciation
congrats on your win against fabi ! thanks for all the videos and lessons :)
If there are some takeaways from what I learned so far from danya its: know opening theory (good openings) inclding the concepts. Try to induce weaknesses, restrict openent peices from getting to good squares. Look at how you can exploit weak squares to your advantage use puzzels to improve tactical/stretegic awareness. In endgames look at weak pawns and work out how to place king & pieices to exploit that. Exchange when you have material adantage usually.
Hey I love the Rapid videos. I feel like I'm way less involved in the Blitz and Bullet games that most chess streamers play. This gives me enough time for me to comprehend and actually learn something.
Very instructive thank you for this amazing endgame an overall game
He deserves a ton of subs...very helpful content 👌🏻💥
I subbed from this video, I never understood rook and pawn endgame until now
These speed runs are so educational and entertaining. Maybe a twist next would be to incorporate opening theory as you go. For example - maybe a 1000 level would only work though a few mains lines for 4 or 5 moves but as you move up you dig in deeper. Just a thought. Great stuff. Thx.
He pretty much plays whatever theory he knows. Most of the time his opponent deviates. After however many moves, if he were to choose to deviate, he would be playing suboptimally.
He does a lot more opening theory at the lower levels. Here in the 2000s he skips it
Omg the timing. Literally 10 minutes ago, I was thinking of when you would make a video of the Sicilian dragon and there it is!!
that endgame was very instructive
Never clicked a UA-cam video SO fast lol. Once I see that ELO thumbnail sheeesh game over
I feel 2200 is pretty arbitrary because online, master level is at least 2300-2400, it’s not FIDE
I somehow really enjoy the dragondorf structures in the dragon move order against the yugoslav. So, e4-c5-Nf3-d6-d4-cxd4-Nxd4-Nf6-Nc3-g6-Be3-Bg7-f3-a6-Qd2-h5-0-0-0-b5....following up with Bb7-Nbd7-Rc8 and usually Ne5 and Nc4. Would be cool, if you could try this in speedrun or video. Would really like to see how a GM would play these positions
Thanks for sharing your great videos which has helped my game immensely!
How does he not have more views and likes? Thanks Daniel you're awesome
Excellent explanation.
This was a super instructive game. It wasn't the most exciting, but it was very similar to many games I get.
Great video Danya! Very interesting seeing you go through the pawn endgame. I like to think that I've learned a great deal watching this video, even though I definitely have to revisit it a couple of times :)
never thought 1 pawn could create such a complex situation... i would probably just go marching forward.
thanks danya
Hell yeah, I saw the need to block the A pawn early, and saw the usefulness of h6 so that you kept an extra pawn during the game immediately. I was wondering if you’d go over the A5 line and h6 line and you did to my pleasant surprise
crazy endgame! very fun to watch
That was the highest pitched "dayam girl" I've heard from Danya
i love how even 2200 players dont resign a king queen v king endgame lmao
Am 1700, and some players will waste their leftover time and get timed out when there is like a mate in 1
I reckon this was only because of time left on the clock to be fair. Danya had less than 10 seconds with no increment to mate. A 2100 shouldn't ever really fail this, but under pressure, a stalemate isn't impossible. Only cost him a few seconds just to try.
Great video! Very instructive!
I feel like I should be paying you for these…….you definitely have a gift for teaching.
Beautiful class man.
watching GMs check mate with 2 pieces is so satisfying, like OCD ecstacy
Eagerly awaited video!
It's a pity Danya didn't include the game Cohn-Rubinstein in this video, to illustrate the king attacking the isolated h-pawn in the endgame. Twice as much Rubinstein is twice as much quality!
28:25 I was like: "woooooow, that's awesome, simple and beautiful"
At 6:40, I would have played f5 in this position. The f pawn prevents bishop e4 for white and the e pawn can’t be taken because black can play bishop e4, which blocks the white rook from going back, attacks white’s bishop, and allows for the rooks on the c file to see each other. White cannot sacrifice a rook to escape the mate threats, rook to e8 can be taken, or even better, have the king moved near the rook, and the black rooks are on open files and still threaten mate, with the bishop and other rook still being attacked, rook takes e4 by white allows for mate in 2 by taking the rook on c1, which means that white is forced to at least lose a bishop if they take the e pawn. If white does not take the e pawn, they are still in a bad position, rook takes c2, sacking the exchange, is possible, but doesn’t help white’s position in any way, since the other white rook is stuck to the back rank to prevent mate, and the white bishop has very limited movement. This means that the only decent options white will really have after f5 is playing a waiting move with a rook, bishop, or a pawn (the rook and bishop moves don’t really help white’s position), moving a pawn near the white king is what I think is best, to avoid potential back rank mate threats, the rooks also cannot leave the back rank, since that would worsen the position for white. I would play g3 as white(after black’s f5) since that allows the white bishop to be able to retreat near the king, while also preventing mate. This is just how I would play since it feels more powerful, but that’s just me, the move Daniel played is probably just as good or better.
Danya, ples don't stop the speedrun. 🥺
I learnt so much my brain is imploding. Thx daniel !
hi Danya, is there a book you recommend with all the advanced concepts you usually comment in these speedrun videos? For example when to blockade the pawn, when to exchange vs close the position, etc.
Typically guess the move when Danya asks us too, but missed the bishop move. Felt good for Danya to have the lecture not to feel bad lol
What was wrong with h6 at 18:27?
The point about freezing the pawns in their end is good if it's an even pawn battle on the other end but here your pawns will win the battle if h6 is played (I checked the engine after the video).
So great!
Hey Daniel could you make a video where you recommend chess books?
100 Subs!! ;D That's awesome! 13:00
Sick last 15 seconds
Keep the speedrun going until you lose!
The best content ever.
Beautiful game
Day 55 of saying you're the best danya. Love your content. You're an absolute legend and unbelievably principled. It was sad to hear we're so close to the end, but I hope to see more speedrunning videos of all sorts in the future.
that g4 variation was nice
Around 3:30, why not E5? Wouldn’t blocking the bishop and developing the pawn to the center be the natural move? You didn’t even discuss it, is there an obvious issue with it that I missed?
Thanks.
after f5, Re2 Rd1+ Rxd1 Bxd1 Rb2 and White feels more alive then they would be otherwise, no? After Rc1, h3 and Bf3+ can be met with Kh3 and White's bishop on b7 is defended by their rook on b2
I don't understand why I can only clearly calculate like once a month and all other days I lose my ability to think and can't visualize anything
how can you tell if someone is playing for a draw
Trading into an endgame with a semi symmetrical position. Usually
Some openings lead to dead draw positions like Berlin defence, and they don't have much attacking chances also with quite symmetrical pawn structures
haha momoneygringo whoever did that is a genius!
Big fight he was playing really good.
Please give some insight about visualisation of board
Daniel: OMG
Me *think that he blundered*
Daniel: 100 subs, DAMN GIRL!!
25:28 here I thought Rb1 has drawing chances for white. for instance, after Bxa2 Ra1 Ra6 Be2 Ra4 Bb5 Rb4 Rxa2 Rxb5 Rxa7 - 4 on 3 is considered a draw
Actually a super interesting line. I might look at it tomorrow on a real board if I remember
So engine says RB1 BC4 RC1 BD3 here white can defend his pawn with RA1 but the position is too passive for white especially since black is already up a pawn. White can indirectly defend his pawn with RD1 which hits the bishop. In both lines black just goes KG7 and it’s -3
Danya why didn’t you sacrifice your white bishop on b3 and mate with rooks?
Still plenty of practical insight even for me as a beginner here 🙏
how bout be4 ? wouldn't that be force checkmate ?
U r amazing Daniel love u
I learned more about pawn endgame and rook on 2 or 7 in endgame.
Just one word: wow!
Restart the speedrun from 1500
It’s more of a walkthrough than a speed run.
Congratulations!! How about a modern defence of pirc defence Chess Speedrun, dear mister Naroditsky ! :)
100 subs gifted ? DAMN GURL!
Something I notice a lot while Danya climbs the ratings is the opponents' clocks. Lower rated players always had a lot more time on their clocks, but now the games are a lot more even. That goes for me too, need to stop playing blitz and think a bit more every move.
I feel like being able to effectively pin and skewer a pawn from multiple angles is like 1000 points of GM elo.
