My 99.9% finished Ilford Jacket and a couple of sewing fails

Hello everyone!
I’m back once again with another #fridaysews catchup on all things sewing from the past week.
Today I am wearing the Gable top and the Pippi Pinafore, both excellent patterns by Jennifer Lauren Handmade. I love layering my T-shirts under pinafore dresses so I’m happy we’re now into Autumn so I can wear them.

Following on form last week, I’ve almost finished my Ilford Jacket, but I just need to pick up some bigger snap fastenings in order to make sure it looks its best. I’m really happy with the finished garment, even if the thick fabric made it a tricky sew.

I’ve also finished my sweater knit Tabor v neck top this week, but unfortunately the finished garment isn’t quite what I envisioned - a combo of maybe the wrong fabric for the pattern and choosing the wrong size to so for the look I wanted to achieve. What do you think?

A second sewing fail that’s definitely my fault was managing to cut out a directional print upside down whilst trying to squeeze something out of a scrap fabric piece. We’ve all done it, right? But this Visby top will still make a perfectly wearable PJ top, so all is not lost.

In non-sewing news, it was my birthday (with a big 0) so I headed off to spend the day with my family having a lovely meal out and then we headed off to the F1 exhibition at the ExCel centre. Hopefully I should have plenty of sewing time this weekend and still have time for heading back to Brisbane Road on Sunday for the next Spurs Women WSL game.

It's a great pattern and a really straightforward sew (especially if you've got a less thick/fluffy fabric than I picked!). I hope you can get your kit sewn up soon 😊
