Just sharing some gameplay (the good and bad) as I was pushing for mythic yesterday. Included the wins and losses to have a proper showcase of the deck. Oh course as soon as I stopped recording the finished the run on my ipad the deck started performing again and I got mythic. I was also testing barbed spike over tamiyo as another way to make 2 artifacts. Been doing reasonable vs meta decks but fringe off meta stuff and fast turn 2/3 combos can be problematic, especially if they don't use the graveyard. Demo'd a couple dimir games as well in the video
With 18 lands you should play 4 Candy Trail or Witching. Can't overstate how invaluable that Scry is at any point in the game, especially on 1 land hands. The card draw is icing on the cake.
My concern with it is it is a 2/1 body where a variety of meta decks are on bombardment or it would trade down in combat. The payoff is reasonable once you get going but think Tamiyo fits the curve better
You’d have to shift to the bigger affinity list for it to work. Could be reasonable in Bo3 but in best of 1 the format is too fast. You can turn 2-3 combo in Bo1
I tried it a bit when Kappa Cannoneer got added. Besides getting absolutely dumpstered by Boros Energy which was like 90% of decks at that time, it was very often just one turn too slow. Frogmite and Seat of the Synod being added might have changed things a bit though.
@ yea i built the legacy stompy version with vault and synod last night with no kappas, 4 Chalice, Ugins labyrinth. Energy came down to if i had chalice on turn 1 or 2.

Affinity is one of my favourite Mtg abilities. I'm glad at least it's still playable in timeless and historic
I opted for the full playset of tamiyo and emry. With consistent turn 1 and 2 legends, mox opal has therefore become my new tech in this deck

Something to try out for sure
I wonder when they are going to release the red artifact land version
Surprised they didn’t just slip in all 5. Weird to have 40% of the set
Have you tried Landlore Navigator at all?

Simulacrum synthesizer was good in modern for a little i dont see why it shouldn’t be good in historic, a nerfed version
