I was up there a few weeks ago and there is definitely a lot of activity in the lower quarry with keep out signs in what were probably the cutting sheds. Workmen were dressed in white overalls and the whole area active with vans and temporary huts.
Yes Peter, it looks like they are dismantling & trying to make safe what’s left in there perhaps to in some way make it less appealing to people and discourage visitors…..who knows.👍
Fantastic Vlog Mark great to see our comparison of a clear and foggy day. Excellent drone footage as well. It was great getting to the winch house seeing the remains of what once was an unusual winch very narrow and a breaking system using a hand wheel. Here’s to the next explore 😉👌
Hi Mark, lovely views this week, and some beautifully atmospheric photos, Watching the drone footage, you can almost imagine what it would look like back in its prime. The problem with social media is there is no emotion behind the words, when I type something I reword it several times sometimes because of how it can read in a negative way and not as I intended. People take everything the wrong way nowadays lol
Another good video Mark. Rumour has it that the two buildings in Maenofferen (pronounced “Maen - o - ffer en” btw) are going to be rebuild as part of the heritage slate trail and be a sort of museum. Not 100% sure on that rumour though but it would be good to think that they’re going to do that.
Hey Mark, not sure why this didn’t pop out on my feed so apologies for watching late 😁 you were in a grand location. Awesome drone footage as usual. Thanks for sharing these beautiful views, you had nice weather over there. On social media, some posts really just attract some different opinions. Mostly positive, but sometimes some bring people down for no apparent reason or just blows things up. It happens.
Hi Mark, if you & Rich had not shown the opening to Maenofferen to Steve & I earlier in the year, we'd have gone up here. Then again, as we went underground that day, we're looking at going back here early in 2025. I hope you're well?
@@gphotographyWALES it was good to meet you both that day & glad you enjoyed your day. Yes, all good thanks & hope both of you are still exploring the mines in safety. Look forward to seeing more 👌👍
Another good day out for the pair of you, some lovely shots and thanks for putting the drone up.
Thanks Iain, much appreciated 🙏👍

Many thanks John. That’s very interesting. Let’s hope they do preserve it with that or something similar 🙏👍
