Last month I made my first jam at 62, it was peach. I was so proud of myself. Can’t wait to make more with different fruits.
Brings back memories of my Dad and me putting up apple sauce, Cucumber pickles, Peaches and Grape Juice and making Bread He did it all and I helped 😊
So happy to see Maysie! And, yes, a lot of work for a small yield, but nothing like homemade. 💜 🍇 🫙
This is the first time that I have seen these wild grapes in 67 or so years. Love your videos.
That grape jelly on the sourdough toast looks delicious! Moose & Maysie obviously wanted some😂. Thanks for sharing this with us Brooke!!❤️❤️

Don't give it to them! It's not good for dogs!
Did my next challenge yesterday...got up and took a very cold shower...gets the blood moving...had plans to hike another waterfall...this one was where the movie Deliverance was filmed....has to be done if the most beautiful gorges I have ever seen...after walking for about 1/2 mile we went to the trail...you either walked a mile in and turned around to go back to the car...once I got to the mile marker I made the decision to keep going and completed the entire trail which was 1.6 miles long...once I made that decision there was turning back.....my wife and her brother did the mile and turned around to go back to the truck...I finished the trail and had to wait for the other two to drive to pick me up...beautiful walk....just do it....have a blessed day Brooke....
looks really tasty and it’s also nice to see daisey at the end of the film.bless her
Anything one makes from what you find in the fields or your own garden is so much worth it. You know whats exactly in your food. Thanks for this video. Be Blessed!
The foam was always my favorite part when my mom was making jelly. We got to put it and a little hot jelly over vanilla ice cream. Yummy!
I am a type 1 diabetic now so I can't eat jelly anymore. I still make some every year or so.
Can't jelly be made with sugar substitutes or will it not gel?
@@ArtsyLadyCrafter I really don't know. I will look into this. Maybe there could be wild plum jelly in my future!
We don’t have Concord grapes in Colorado. At least I’ve never seen them here. My grandmother used to make concord jelly from scratch- the smell and the taste make me go back in time! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
yes the whole house fills with the smell!
There is nothing like it!
Gave me sweet memories of my mom making jelly. Thanks so much Brooke 🍇
The jelly looks amazing BUT not gonna lie I LOVED seeing masie and moosie at the end ❤️
I enjoy watching you in the woods and all canoeing you do while camping and building of camps digging Wells hiking and most of all when you just sit and chill at a fire I too have a fire pit in my backyard my wife and I go camping have a Big t e n t had a small rustic cabin for 10 years in the town of Florence with five anchors of woods loved it I also love the Adirondacks and the changing seasons thank you for all you do
I remember my mom making jelly and jams when we were kids. It always smelled so good and tasted wonderful. There is nothing like homemade. Thank you for sharing.

I remember my grandmother making Concord Grape jelly in the 70's. It was so good on her homemade biscuits.......yummy 🤗
Here 'she' is in her sparrrre time {haha} just whippin' up some
homemade goodness!! Our favvv gal donning her signature
braids. Tx for sharing Brooke.
Yeahhh there is our Da Woof and Moo too . . . Maisey
looks sooo healthy.
This is my family (Amish & Mennonites) recipe. Do NOT toss out the pulp after juicing. Take pulp and run thru Victoria Strainer using grape screen. The sauce that comes out, treat as apple sauce but it's suppose to be a bit sweet tart. Freezing is great but can water-bath can for 10 min. Run the pulp thru twice. The remains are great for chickens and/or compost. This is so wonderful! And there is no waste on the grapes🤩🍇.
Happy eating😋
Brook🙋🍏🍎
I remember my grandmother making Concord Grape jelly in the 70's. She would seal hers with a layer of that canning wax.
NOTHING like...enjoying the 'bounty' of your land when the time of harvest comes = BEST EVER! Thanks B 2 'Him'! Thanks Brooke, 4 the well-explained procedure for this treat. Nicely done! HEALTH AND god Bless! :)
Growing up we had grapes rhubarb pears and apple trees. I miss that time. Today making apple pecan cake and more sweet banana peppers.
It was so wonderful to see Maisie again! Thank you, Brooke!
Hey Brooke! I've never seen grape jelly or grape juice actually made before. Pretty cool!
I absolutely love your channel you Inspire me with all you do. You're truly an inspiration and a wonderful human being. Thank you for all that you do and sharing your beautiful life with us and the things you love doing . You truly are an amazing person and a gift from God . You enjoy the simple things in life and enjoy the great outdoors of nature that God beautifully created as well. :))
Looks delicious Brooke! Thanks for the reminder to go out and battle the yellow jackets for my grapes. For my grape jelly I leave a few of the larger good looking green ones, as well. They add some more pectin, which helps it jell, and a bit of tartness. Last year I harvested a few pounds of crab apples and canned up my own liquid pectin. I'm going to use that for my jelly this year. It will be my first time. Wish me luck!
To avoid the wasps, my parents go out in the evenings to harvest grapes.
@@mikewoodward8532 thank you for the tip!
@ Mike
Our friends in CA grape country do the same, even wear their headlamps so they can stay out later.
It's been almost a year. I wonder how your homemade pectin worked?
Greetings from lower michigan... thank you for sharing this experience with us. I love that I found something my daughters can watch with me... thankyou for providing content appropriate for my young daughters!
Thanks for sharing the grape jelly recipe. I love grape ANYTHING! Note, liquid pectin and dry pectin are NOT interchangeable when making jams and jellies. Be sure to follow fully tested and accurate canning recipes that will yield healthy and safe processed foods.
Wow! I think I could do that. I'm 62 and I canned veggies for the first time since about 1972, this year. I could only do a few jars per time because of my spine problems but I enjoyed it so much. Next may be jelly😁🤗🤗
I'd love to build a little workshop for my crafting and hobbies too. Maybe next year. Lol
Loved the videoBree, takes me back to watching my mom and grandma making jelly when I was a little boy 60 some odd years ago. Seem to remember that they sealed the jars with paraffin and when the wax hardened, they would cover the jars with a little square of cloth. We would make jelly from all the local berrys that we picked including elderberrys and wild cherrys. So good.
Awesome video! Not enough people do stuff like this anymore! Everyone should know how to can🙂 Nice Job Brooke!
Oh my goodness I LOVE grape jelly/jam, than you for this video girl!! Ontario, Windsor Canada
Great video!🤔Think I might want some jam,and the juice would be nice too!.You are definitely a motivational speaker for sure!I have had 2 fires since the awakening and have started a big shelter(wintercamp) out in my forest!😊Thank you for reminding me that after tragic loss, there is still hope, and joy💕💕💕💕You are truly wonderful..🤗 from Hammy💕🎵
So happy to see Maysie with Moose it's been awhile. That toast and grape jelly looked so good, nice video thanks.
Thanks Brooke! I had forgotten why I might add a tad of butter to the fruit juice....... I'm boiling crab apples right now.
This reminds me of when I was a teenager and Mom made the grape jelly from Grandpa's Concord grapevines. And also the homemade sourdough bread . ( made from the sourdough starter that she had for years. It got better with age) That all stopped as the 7 of us kids left home. We had a freestone pear tree that was so loaded we were always afraid it would break under the weight of so many pears. Mom made pear honey. Delicious !!! I used to do some canning and jelly making. Maybe I will again. Still reeling from the loss of my soulmate. 😭
I love grapes. That's so cool you had fresh grapes to make juice and jelly. I really enjoyed the video.👍😀
That foam was the goal for us kids to spread on some soft white bread!
That reminded me of my Nana. She would have it hanging over the kitchen sink . Loved those homemade Jan's n jellies!😍
That was cool, I have never made jelly before. Not sure if I ever will but you made it look pretty easy thank you.
Hey Brooke you need to get a fruit steamer!! It takes away all that straining.. I love mine it's my most favorite canning gadget! You can use it for grapes, and all other fruits.. I've used it for crabapples, elderberries and sometimes I clean the older fruit out of my freezer and I put it all through the steamer and make a mixed fruit jelly with the juice! I can send you photos of it in action if you like.. Let me know..
100% agree. I bought one earlier this garden season and absolutely love it. I've made peach, apple, pear, strawberry, grape juices then turn them into syrups.
Right on.
As a kid we had two huge concord grape trellises that had to be at least 20 feet long. I remember as a kid sitting in the shade and eating the grapes right off the vine and then picking washing mashing to prepaire for jelly and jam. Thanks for the memories!
I remember those days. Happy ones. Thanks for sharing. Good day. Good week. Stay well. See ya next time.
Great vlog; thanks for sharing. I think the measured cups before straining may have given you a little less grape juice (some was in the cloth with the seeds, etc.). Looks yummy! Many blessings to your family 🤗❤️🇨🇦
That was a pretty picture with the toast and grapes
Yummy. My Grandma many moons ago made grape jelly from her vines. She would let me me have some after she mad her batches. Was easy to make. We used Peritan.
Oh yum, thank you for showing us how to make grape jelly. Im going to give it a go. I moved to Germany and discovered an Elderberry tree/bush across the road from where we live in the countryside. I Googled how to make Elderberry Syrup, and made it myself. It was so easy. I was so thrilled. I made my 1st 3 bottles last year, and my second 3 bottles in around June this year. Then I discovered our piece of wild, overgrown plot had wild blackberries growing on it. Yay. I picked those. I used 1:1 jam sugar. I weighed the berries, then measured the same weight in sugar. And in a 10 mins, I made my first little batch of blackberry jam. It was so wonderful and rewarding.. I felt all proud of myself in a good way. Sometimes we doubt ourselves. Oh, and I just found a second hand food dehyrator. 👌That was on my bucket list for years. They are very hard to find where I live. My next first, is to dehydrate some fruit, etc. So, thank you Brooke for inspiring us with everything you do, and making it fun. 💖 You have to get outside, go exploring, or go thrifting to find those treasures. Finding food is also treasure. Hugs to the fur babies. Love to everyone, all the way from Germany.
Just went through a week of Hurricane Ian storm and aftermath. Still a bit shaky from the experience. What a delight to finally get electricity back and your "new" episode popped up to watch. Thanks for your wonderful work.
hey, Lady! glad to see ya still at it..Cheers, and be safe this winter..God bless
Wow, that looks so delicious. I love your cooking and videos!
My mouth is watering right now. My grand mom used to make apple jelly, and it is really great seeing someone making things from scratch. Love your video's, and be blessed
Oh geez, your sourdough bread....toasted....with homemade jelly. I love you!
That looks good. I think Da moose and Da wolf wanted some too!
That looks delicious! Thanks for sharing 😋
Thank you 😋
Thanks Brooke 🤗 looks delish as juice or jelly on sourdough bread 😋 take care🙏🇺🇲
Thanks for sharing! Agreed, nothing beats homemade. 🙂
I remember mom making grape freezer jelly I think he used parafene wax to seal on top for freezer burn
Your grape jelly and sour dough bread look beautiful and delicious! 😋
GREAT VID, YOU FORGOT TO GIVE US THE FIRST BITE!! LOL,LOL, KEEP SAFE AND WELL, FROM UK.
After I have cooked the grapes, I put them through a metal cone shaped strainer and with a pestle press the grapes in the strainer with juice falling into a pan underneath the strainer. The strainer is held in a stand over tge pan. You get really rich juice to make your jelly. I then proceed using the directions in the sure-jell pectin box. I made 11 jars, today!
I love when you cook and share your recipes with us. Thanks Brookie!
As soon as you set the grapes on to boil, my mouth started watering, lol! Our family had concord grapes and we made jelly every year. My mom would freeze the juice in empty ice cream buckets and add to it as more grapes ripened and were processed. My favorite part was getting into the frozen juice when no one was looking and scraping a bunch out with a spoon to eat as a treat. (Then my mom would gripe at me for getting into it). :)
Nice to see you doing some canning from food grown locally in the wild.
Girl Im glad you do this to help out the good people in hard times a coming, may God really bless you.
did you do a video on the sour dough bread?
i have a few sourdough vids but haven't done my bread yet- that's coming
Thanx Brooke. Good demonstrational video, Concord and Muscadine are my 2 favorite grapes. God bless.😃
Wish we had concords in Florida, but there is so many things to make jam or jelly here!!! Love homemade jam!!! Tried growing grapes...they're growing still 5 yrs later but no grapes ..not alot of sun where they are now. Trees got bigger back there. Are they to be in direct sun? Gonna try 6 hrs of sun....fla is hot!!!
Love seeing you in a different (domestic role?) light. Thanks for being you, love your content.
I rarely see anyone make grape jelly, not a difficult process, extremely purple though lol. I think this must've been the grapes my mom used to use making grape pie. Looks really good!
That’s pretty cool, Brook. Your the best.😍
Thank you! 😁
Love that you use a pastry cutter for crushing the grapes, I will give it a try . I have a bunch to sort tomorrow and make Jelly. ❤
My mom always made different jellies and canned fruits and vegetables that were grown on her land.
I would steal a jar of plums and head to the hills behind our home before she caught me. I would sit up there enjoying the views and the wildlife just me and my beagle Blue. Those were the days for sure.
Thanks Brooke for taking me back to the good days of my childhood. 💜
That’s pretty cool, Brook. Your the best. 😋
Thanks! 😄
I remember as a kid, mom would make both grape and BlackBerry Jelly. My dad and I would pick the grapes or blackberries. and mom would let me help make the Jelly.
Glad to know. I have a reddish purple grape vine (planted by some former owner or another) but it is being eaten by Western Grape Skeletonizer Caterpillars and we have had hundreds of Grasshoppers (all over the community too). I garden organically and no NOLO Bait to be found in any online shop. I may do the biological BT caterpillar control but we also have many caterpillars of good butterflies here. What to do? I think the damage is already so great that I will till the soil next Spring and call it good. Thank you for the wonderful canning of jelly lesson! I appreciate all you do and your teaching.
Omg, you are amazing and inspiring. I have always wanted to can stuff. Jelly or jam might be the first thing I try since you made it look so easy. ❤️
As usual you broke it down beautifully. I'm definitely getting into making my own jelly now.
Your video's are always, informative, fresh, fun..... Blessings to you and yours:)
Looks delicious..Made some a couple years ago.. My dad always waited until after a frost to pick the grapes. Said it made them sweeter.
🍇🍇
Thanks Brooke for sharing and showing on how to make grape jelly I love watching your videos your the best 🙂
That jelly looked so yummy, Brooke, and it was so good to see Maysie. Thanks for sharing.
I love grape juice, thanks for this video.
It always feels good after canning & to hear them pop!!! Miss it yet a lot of work!!
We used to do that. We started using grape and then found out Welch's grape juice worked better.
My uncle grew grapes for Welch's on his farm in southwest Michigan & made wine with some of them.
Hi again BROOKE
...and you have spare time to whip up some homemade jelly lol! What a great recipe but the step by step is soo helpful. Thinking a need to know where you got your sourdough starter or is this your own? Couldn't have a more delicious combo! Not sure but have you ever done a cookbook? Thinking you have some other yummy recipes to share!
Good to see Maisy sp? again as it's been a while. Thx as always for sharing. See you again soon.
