I’m in the middle of making the what I call the “Travis Out feed table” so what your saying is to make sure the frame that attaches to the stand is wide enough for the dust port ?
Ya. Set the saw to a max degree bevel cut and build around where the dust port sticks out. I missed this the first time. I made a quick fix for now but I plan to rebuild the frame and make some plans for my website.
You probably could. Would have to take the router out before folding up. Yes, it's stable. If I stood on it the entire table saw would probably flip over before the outfeed table breaks. Haha.
I've just been stacking Amazon boxes and crates with a small piece of plywood on top as my makeshift outfeed table like some kind of lazy peasant. This is nice!
I made this today from your idea. Happily, I noticed the bevel issue before mounting the frame, so that sort of took care of itself. One thought for you... you might want to route out grooves in the outfeed to accommodate runoff by a miter gage or large sled. Let's start looking at an infeed for this table now!! Ha! Great vids. Thanks very much!
Awesome! I commented and also made plans on my website of the 3rd iteration of this table to fix the bevel issue. Im still trying to decide if I want to cut in grooves. I find every time I use something that uses the miter slots, I don't need the outfeed table so I just told it down.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY my folded down outfeed surface ended up a bit too high. Anything in the miter slot still hits the outfeed, whether it's folded, or not. My bad on that one. Still... your design makes great sense. Thanks VERY much!

Excellent solution to an annoying and common problem. Sadly, I just recently sold my DW7491 and replaced it with a full-sized cabinet saw. The manufacturer of the new saw offers an optional all-metal folding outfeed table, but it's fairly expensive, and I think, over-engineered. What about putting finger holes through the table right at the end of the hinge? That way you could activate the hinge release levers from above without reaching around under the table.
I haven't had that issue. It's pretty stable. But physics is physics. If you cut a super heavy, long piece, you could probably make it tip. But I don't think that would happen.

I would use plywood. MDF chips in the corners and doesn't have the same support strength. You can cut miter slots if you want. I just fold my table down when I use my sled. I was concerned miter slots would weaken the table. However, I've seen others add that to my design. Thanks!

They probably will work but they may hang over the frame of the saw a bit when folded down. FYI, I did find an issue with my original design when making 45 degree bevel cuts. I had to adjust the frame so the dust port will clear. I addressed that in my plans if your interest. If not, just make sure you take that into consideration. Thanks for the comment! @@HowIDoThingsDIY Will do. I have watched several other… lets just say” less than optimal”… ways of creating an outfeed table for this saw. This is hands down the best. Truth be told I don’t buy plans, ever. But you figured out everything I want to know so well worth the download. Why don’t you have a patreon?
@@lincolndickerson1293 Thanks so much. I have a patreon but it's not fully developed. I decided to use the UA-cam version which just says, "Join" below the video or on my channel. Here's a link if you want to check it out. ua-cam.com/channels/boCCtnsCslt0ZT9W47thcA.htmljoin
No. I just fold it down when I use a sled but you could also cut dado slots for clearance. I didn't like the idea of cutting 1/2" deep slots in my 3/4" thick outfeed table. Thanks for the question!
This is nice, but if you find yourself in a pinch needing a table extension you can use an ironing board. They are very and easily adjustable in height.
I like the idea of using those hinges. I want to do the same because I know how helpful this would be BUT my saw isn't the greatest. It has bigger issues.... like a wonky fence.
Been using a cordless dewalt table saw last couple of years for job site stuff (have a 60 year old powermatic cabinet maker table saw with a Biesmeyer fence at home) . Wasn't happy with the fence on the cordless dewalt ether, so made my own T square type of fence. I'm considering getting the saw he has in the video to add to my job site trailer, so will see how the fence works out.
I planned to add them but it's so easy to just fold it down when I need to use a sled that I never got around to it. On my plans I offer it as optional.
Just about to make this, but two quick questions: 1) did you square off the rounded edges of the 2x4s? and 2) for the pieces that make up the small frame attached to the saw, do they end up all being 1.5" x 1.5" or so?
You don't have to square off the 2x4s, but you can if you like. I ripped 2x4' in half and the flipped 90 degrees to make sure they were square. By the time I cleaned the "2x2" in half, they were 1 3/8"
Ya... they don't make one. I found one for a different Makita model and then made modifications to the saw to make it work. It actually worked surprisingly well and looks like it was meant to be there. I'll see if I can find what I ordered.
Congrats on 1k subs, I’m along with you in the journey for many more! I was waiting for the video as I have the same saw sitting new in a box for several months now. I was surprised you didn’t use your taper jig for the bracket angles. Lol right when I was thinking you should use paste wax to finish it off to help material slide you did. Nice work! 👍🏼
Thanks! I actually cut the angles with my jigsaw but that footage got lost somehow... Hahah. I was trying to figure out the best way to cut that angle... It never even dawned on my to use the taper jig, which is the obvious choice. Oops.
Thanks for the sub!!I love those hinges. I also used them for my fold down work bench! They can even take the weight of my planer! Here's a link showing my work shop setup with fold down work bench. ua-cam.com/video/kXzVISeXGpQ/v-deo.html
Hmmm... I haven't. I have to put this thing away after each use, so I don't want to overcomplicate it. It seems like that would also get in the way of the controls.
Jeff, thanks so much for supporting the channel right from the start. That's awesome! I think this is the adapter I use on the saw. Double check before ordering. I bought it on Amazon but you could also order throu DeWalt. It tapers, not straight like it shows in the photo. www.dewalt.com/products/accessories/tool-accessories/dust-management-accessories/tapered-large-diameter-adapter-for-dewalt-dust-extractors/dwv9140
Awesome approach! I’m thinking about getting this table saw and doing the same thing, but I’ve got some space restrictions. What’s the total width of your saw with this outfeed support when everything is folded up?
Very nicely made outfeed table, what was the maximum weight allowed for those brackets? I'm kind of shocked with the price you paid for that Plywood as well. New Subscriber. Stay Safe, Barry (ENG)
Thanks! There's a link in the description to the brackets. Amazon states the max weight of the brackets is 440lbs. My portable table saw would flip far before that!! I also use a larger version of these for my folding work bench top. The work bench top weights like 75lbs and the planer I put on it is another 92lbs. Ive never had an issue!
Your handle on the stand is installed backwards. The handle should point up and the two pipe ends should curve up not down. The little rubber pad should be on the other side of the pipe where they can sit in contact with the ground. This all effects the length of the outfeed table unfortunately for those of us who have this installed correctly.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Great outfeed table! Did you have to add mitre slots later or when folded down is the outfeed table out of the way when using a sled?
I was going to add miter slots but I didn't want to weaken the 3/4" plywood and it it's totally out of the way when folded down so I didn't see the need. Thanks for the comment!
@@HowIDoThingsDIY Excellent! I have the same saw and will be downloading the plans right after I get my miter and dado miter sleds built. Some many fun things to build!
@@lincolndickerson1293 Sounds great! Let me know if you have any questions.
Congrats on the 1k! Awesome outfeed table build
Thanks! Ya. I'm excited to start my next project so I can test it out!
Will the runners on your table sled clear the outfeed table?
No. I just fold it down when I use a sled but you could also cut dado slots for clearance. I didn't like the idea of cutting 1/2" deep slots in my 3/4" thick outfeed table. Thanks for the question!
Good content as always!
Thanks! I try to improve a little with every one.
@@HowIDoThingsDIY I'm falling behind
@@FowlersFarmhouseMore Everyone goes at their own pace!
This is nice, but if you find yourself in a pinch needing a table extension you can use an ironing board. They are very and easily adjustable in height.
That could work! Thanks for the comment.
2:29 - someone tell me what is the purpose of those handle tubes bent down?
I've been told I need to flip it so I can work with the saw on the floor. However, I would never do that, so I never flipped it.
I like the idea of using those hinges. I want to do the same because I know how helpful this would be BUT my saw isn't the greatest. It has bigger issues.... like a wonky fence.
Those hinges are awesome. Thanks for watching!
No miter slots?
I planned to add them but it's so easy to just fold it down when I need to use a sled that I never got around to it. On my plans I offer it as optional.
Just about to make this, but two quick questions: 1) did you square off the rounded edges of the 2x4s? and 2) for the pieces that make up the small frame attached to the saw, do they end up all being 1.5" x 1.5" or so?
You don't have to square off the 2x4s, but you can if you like. I ripped 2x4' in half and the flipped 90 degrees to make sure they were square. By the time I cleaned the "2x2" in half, they were 1 3/8"
Wowwww...awesome! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Need a support on the outside
I appreciate the suggestion.
I clicked on your link for the hinges. What is correct size. Btw, great videography
Thanks! I'll go measure real quick for you.
I used the 14" for this outfeed table.
I have the same circular saw and CANNOT find a dust-collection attachment... can you pls tell me what you're using on yours??
Ya... they don't make one. I found one for a different Makita model and then made modifications to the saw to make it work. It actually worked surprisingly well and looks like it was meant to be there. I'll see if I can find what I ordered.
Found it! This is the one I used. amzn.to/3krNLvO. Hit me up at howidothingsdiy@gmail.com and I can try to explain what I did to make it fit.
I have the same saw, what are the measurements
26.5" long x 24" wide and around 4" gap to the saw. Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out my next video next week when I use it!
Thanks
Congrats on 1k subs, I’m along with you in the journey for many more! I was waiting for the video as I have the same saw sitting new in a box for several months now. I was surprised you didn’t use your taper jig for the bracket angles. Lol right when I was thinking you should use paste wax to finish it off to help material slide you did. Nice work! 👍🏼
Thanks! I actually cut the angles with my jigsaw but that footage got lost somehow... Hahah. I was trying to figure out the best way to cut that angle... It never even dawned on my to use the taper jig, which is the obvious choice. Oops.
Thank You for this. The hinges are great, I’ve copied your idea for my dewalt. Love it thank you 🙏
Ps subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub!!I love those hinges. I also used them for my fold down work bench! They can even take the weight of my planer! Here's a link showing my work shop setup with fold down work bench. ua-cam.com/video/kXzVISeXGpQ/v-deo.html
Have you ever thought about making a small infeed table/support to extend the capacity?
Hmmm... I haven't. I have to put this thing away after each use, so I don't want to overcomplicate it. It seems like that would also get in the way of the controls.
Do you know if this outfeed table will work on a Dewalt DW745 saw. Thanks!
I don't know for sure. But I would think my instructions could be easily adapted to other saws. Sorry I'm not more helpful.
Where did you get the dust port adapter for your saw ? Huge fan of your channel Travis, I think I was like the first 10 of your subs. Thanks jeff
Jeff, thanks so much for supporting the channel right from the start. That's awesome! I think this is the adapter I use on the saw. Double check before ordering. I bought it on Amazon but you could also order throu DeWalt. It tapers, not straight like it shows in the photo. www.dewalt.com/products/accessories/tool-accessories/dust-management-accessories/tapered-large-diameter-adapter-for-dewalt-dust-extractors/dwv9140
@@HowIDoThingsDIY Thanks Travis,
No problem! Thank you!
The wax can cause fisheye problems with some finishes.
I suppose it could. I haven't had that happen yet. What do you use?
Awesome approach! I’m thinking about getting this table saw and doing the same thing, but I’ve got some space restrictions. What’s the total width of your saw with this outfeed support when everything is folded up?
Thanks for watching! 31" wide when folded.
Can't help but notice your handle for pulling the saw on wheels is upside down, the pads where it bolts to the frame are designed to be the low point.
You are correct. Thanks for the comment!
Very nicely made outfeed table, what was the maximum weight allowed for those brackets?
I'm kind of shocked with the price you paid for that Plywood as well.

Also, I'm sure the plywood would be cheaper now... I bought during the peak but I needed it
@@HowIDoThingsDIY Nice to know i have been thinking of something like your fold down workbench before due to lack of space in my shed.
Stay Safe.
Obviously I would prefer a massive woodworking bench in the middle of the room, but this is 1000x better than a folding table or working on the floor.
Your handle on the stand is installed backwards. The handle should point up and the two pipe ends should curve up not down. The little rubber pad should be on the other side of the pipe where they can sit in contact with the ground. This all effects the length of the outfeed table unfortunately for those of us who have this installed correctly.
Thanks for the tip. I'll flip it.
I wanted to order your plans but I only use PayPal online. Nice video, though.
I think my website takes PayPal. Otherwise, you can PayPal me directly at howidothingsdiy@gmail.com and I'll email you the PDF.

The Buckley's of outfeed tables. Looks awful, works great!
Function over form. I still love this thing!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Its cool. Not you got me thinking how I can do this with 8020
Perfect. I'm glad I gave you some ideas.
That's the one drawback to this saw. No out feed support.
For sure, but I think this solution fixes it!
$70 plywood sheet + 2 shelf brackets $26 each, seems too much for tiny foldable table
I didn't use the entire sheet of plywood. You're welcome to do whatever you feel is right. I love it and it was totally worth it to me.

Gawd damn…. $77 for that potato-chip looking piece of crap? That’s Baltic Birch money lol 😮
Tell me about it... This was at the peak of plywood prices. It would be less now.
