Which end you attaching strap ?
i have attached strap at 2nd single crochet ....we have made 3 single crochet stitches in round 2 after 1 half double crochet so we will attach strap at the 2nd single crochet

What size hook and thread did you use?
I have use 3 ply crochet yarn and 3 mm crochet hook

Can't see anything when you use red yarn.
I think its your resolution problem ......i have not use red yarn i have used pink yarn
