It's people very upset in the comments. For African Americans to come to Africa, understand we are very straight forward and direct people. We do NOT sweep things under the rug. We are NOT going to be silent and just smile when there are issues. If you want us here, then we are going to bring that energy with us. We cannot come to Africa and have love for this great continent and stay silent with things we feel are not condusive to the development of Africa. We have AS MUCH RIGHT as any other person of African descent to be here in our mother continent.

Since offended Africans make a lot of noise, I feel it’s incumbent upon me as one of the few Africans who appreciate this criticism to make some noise as well and say I appreciate what y’all are doing

  • @Ragnarokstorymaker

Big shout out on the full African American cast this pod. Much love!

  • @dzimujikambarage9784

Aww, the bearded guy had his feelings hurt because random strangers were mean to him on UA-cam? Your hurt feelings don't make you an expert in African geopolitics and culture.

Black Americans need to go to Africa with skills to build infrastructure like building roads, buildings, helping to make the electricity better etc. Instead of just complaining about how you want things to be done. Lead by example. Also, y’all need to tell the truth a lot of black towns in America are run down believe me I know. Please tell the truth. Important note: At least the brother told the truth about the lack of unity of black Americans.

    The entitlement ...

Wow!! Look at the pot calling the kettle black.

I'm Nigerian. The thing with our cousins is y'all talk too much with NO ACTION. Africans have been talking for decades and are well passed that stage, so we don't see the need for constant rehashing as that's just toxic. For each of these issues raised, there are local actors on the ground looking to change/turn things around. Rather than more talk, you can engage these local actors and join the effort to change things. You all have really wide platforms, imagine the good you could do with featuring locals who are involved in transformational change. People have been around for a few months, and want to announce bad roads or gutters, as if they're not experiencing it lol.

Please entitlement, ignorance and arrogance is not the same as "keeping it real!"

  • @sindiswamsubo9519

I think another point you guys forgot to mention is that Language is another divider on the continent, that’s why no matter how different black Americans are you’re a lot more united. Loved this!!!R! I’ve beeeeeeen waiting for this conversation❤

I’m just astounded by Mark’s wisdom. When he speaks I don’t want him to stop. He’s managed to pick up on certain problems in our society that I think should’ve taken him longer. It’s almost like he’s CIA

  • @divaprettyakakapequeen9438

Constructive criticism! Everything discussed here is very true.

  • @tula_tracey

Mark is mature beyond his years, he is self aware its refreshing to see, some people normally dont discover self awareness until we reach our mid 40s or in some cases older 😂 word up,!

The trouble with African Americans is don't take the time to understand issues. I saw Freedom Chasers in this panel say Europeans, Indians, and Chinese have more privileges than African Americans coming to Africa. That point was ignorant, you cannot get privilege by coming to Kenya Youtubing for three months and start comparing yourself with Idinas who came to EA before independence when constructing the Railway line. You cannot compare yourself with Whites who invest and create opportunities through manufacturing, and you cannot compete with the Chinese who are helping Africa achieve infrastructural milestones. Kenya has given citizenship to many groups e.g the Shona from South Africa, Bora Community from Asia, and others. However, the key to getting these privileges is in persevering, investing, and creating opportunities not skipping one nation to the next Youtubing for instance, Nairobi Java was a creation of a white guy when I was still in elementary school. Osahy JAckson's approach to coming to Africa is helping create opportunities for Africans but the other majorities are just critiquing for the sake of it.

I still think most of these AA moving, or attempting to move to the "mother land" need a deep re-education, or possible re-orientation of their thinking towards the environment you are coming. - You need to learn their culture, and the way their society operates before arriving. Come in, observe, then proceed to work, and show examples, instill the standards within the environment you control, these eventually become infectious.

African Culture being hash hash - From my understanding of being raised in a african household, issues are resolved in the home, in the presence of elders not on the market streets where everyone is watching. If someone offends me and I still maintain my smile, it does not mean am okay with what that person did. I will have to find time to talk to that person in and let them know about my grievences. It's complicated for people from the west to understand because being confrontaional is seen as being strong but how many relationships and friendships are broken because of those confrontational approaches?

I asked this question before and I am going to ask it again, are black Americans the only people traveling to Africa?
