I have also noticed that I get recommended more and more videos that have just a handful of views. Your video addressed this so it made me curious enough to give it a shot
@NourArt02 flattering and kind of embarrassing too. People that know me irl will probably come across this video too at some point. Guess I'll just have to accept that 🤷
Hey ! As a small creator who is extremely interested in the statistics side of content creation I can quite confidently explain why this happens. UA-cam has moved over to a watch time & CTR (click through rate) system with a sprinkle of how long your CHANNEL as a whole keeps a person on average, meaning that the longer people on average people watch your video , how often they watch multiple of your videos and how often people click on your video when recommended to them. UA-cam treats EVERY video equally, meaning smaller creators have "roughly" the same chance if posting an equally good video for it to get successful , as people should be theoretically watch it as long and click on it as often. UA-cam however knows that a person with a ton more videos out there will most likely have an audience already in the loop of that creator, meaning that if you're posting one of your first videos on the website, they actually give you MULTIPLE extra chances in the algorithm to find an audience for your early videos. All of this to say that if a video is REALLY damn good but you have no viewerbase, it will most likely still over time get recommended to the right people and when they gather enough information from small sample sizes, it will suddenly give it a massive push to the audience they KNOW will soak it in and love it. If you're a massive creator and you post something that is utterly terrible, it will initially get some views from the hardcore fans that always instantly click anything you post, but it will die off EXTREMELY fast (after like 1-2 days it won't get any more views at all) regardless of the size of the creator, as the algorithm realized it is not a good idea to promote the video further. There is more to it than that and even if it was a long post, that is pretty much a TL;DR. But the ultimate TL;DR is: The algorithm is changed to prioritize how long your video keeps people on the website, if you make great content , that fills that purpose. Meanwhile bad content makes people not click or stop watching. So big or small, make good content and you will do well, best time to make content atm.
@Thesportsgamer wow I really appreciate that. I know my content is low quality now but I do mean it when I say I am doing my best. Thanks again reading this at work just made my night
I was thinking maybe they want to make it easier to find original content from a wide variety of people so that Google can train their AI, i doubt they can just 'find' any video they want without any difficulty, so why not change the algorithm so that it recommends videos from small channels so that its easy to find them, train the AI from them, make it learn from a variety of context, scenarios, and video quality/content to make it better overall. Idk
I apologize for the chk sound at the begining definitely a nervous tick I will do better Over 1k views 😅 wow thanks for watching everyone really means alot
camera loses focus cuz you need a light besides your screen. Besides that, your video popped up on my homepage as well and I agree, recently lots of more "budget" channels, let's call them. I feel like even some of my older videos that i started making recently since changing formats. Keep it up dude. IDK what to expect from you in the future but i hope you come up more.
get better lighting, also the algorithm gives me small channels a lot because I tend to click on interesting videos from smaller channels. I'm pretty sure if you only watch big channels youtube will give you those, but if you watch smaller channels it'll start recommending more to you. It has factors on both ends for the uploaders and for the viewers because ultimately giving the customer (the viewer) what they want will keep them on the site more.
Algorithm literally gave me this. Keep it up bro
lmao ayy I appreciate it 🙏
Exactly my thought. I was just recommended this video like a self fulfilling prophecy.
