Hello just wanted to say thank you so much for making this video, I feel like majority of videos don't really focus on the first steps of schooling and Social Working in general. I've been sober a good while now, and have turned my life completely around and think it will help a lot in the path that I'm on. Really need to help people off the path that I was on, and has a chance to get the services I was able to. Thanks again.
hi there! i'm an msw student & have been watching your videos about your social work journey for a while now. i really appreciate the in-depth and thoughtful videos you make, and you inspired me to start documenting my own journey! so i just started my own channel about all things social work, and i wanted to thank you for your inspiration & motivation. thank you :)
What jobs do you recommend for someone who will be getting their BSW degree in May? Aka me. I am an anxious person so I am worried I won’t be able to handle a high stress and high caseload job. I would appreciate any advice!
There are many jobs out there! I would recommend checking out job search websites as I mentioned - they could be helpful in seeing what is available in your area for job inspiration. Type in BSW jobs, bachelors in Social Work, those things. Many BSW level jobs include case management so I can understand how the potential for high caseloads can be stressful. Every organization and agency will be different but I do suggest if that happens, talking to your supervisor / boss / team leader about these things. Burnout is real so I would hope they can help you stay at a reasonable caseload for quality work. Mention that you may not be able to give the clients your best if you don’t have enough time to meet with them and do notes, etc. things like that! I hope this helps and good luck with everything 😊
Hi Jaclyn, can some body start a career in social work without any degree in social work? I am from IT background and was researching in this area from sometime now but not sure from where to start.
I am not 100% sure about other states in America or other countries but I know around me, a degree is required for social work! Whether it be a bachelors or masters there are many different paths for a social worker for sure.
Hi! while you are in school, it could help working with the population you want to work with even if it is not exactly Social Work (such as if you want to be a school Social Worker, working in childcare/after school programs can help build your skills.)

Is there any entry level jobs that can help build experience? So I can be in a similar field while in school

what pre requisitions did you have to take before the program? Im currently taking US HIS 1870; i wonder if most programs require this in general?
Yes I had to take general education courses as well. I believe I talk a bit more about it in my videos where I go over how my semesters were
Do you enjoy your job?
yes I do!
